Main Cast
Kagami Kouhei
"I live the same day every day. I go to school. I go back home." |
The protagonist of the story, just an ordinary student. He works hard to get good grades and not stand out, but this plan doesn't work too well once he meets the three heroines. Kouhei's parents died when he was young because of some unspecified incident, and he was adopted as a Kagami since the Kagami family were friends of his parents. However, he still feels like he doesn't belong very well.
He hallucinates that he hears the sound of a train, as well as a woman who demands that he fight her, whenever he's not doing anything, which he analyzes as having to do with his boredom and static lifestyle.
- Awesomeness By Analysis: Aeka's route only.
- Cute and Psycho: Aeka's route only.
- First-Person Smartass
- Gratuitous English: GENOCIDE!!!
- Happily Adopted: Played with. Kouhei's adoptive family stopped thinking of him as not being blood-related a long time ago, but Kouhei still distances himself somewhat from them. Things come to a head in Mizuki's route, where an enraged Kouhei accuses his dad of not being his real father. Thankfully, Kouhei then realises how much his family care for him.
- H-Game POV Character: Type II A. Kouhei is generally well-liked by the people who know him, but it's a façade to cover up his shallow, transparent nature. He graduates to a Type I in each heroine's good end.
- Only Sane Man: Especially in Mizuki and Nekoko's routes.
- Ordinary High School Student
- Tranquil Fury: Aeka's route only.
- You're Not My Father: Kouhei's response when his dad forbids him from seeing Mizuki any further. Earns him a smack to the face.
Shiraki Aeka
"Please take the loneliness away for just a little while..." |
A girl in Kouhei's class. She was socially ostracized shortly after she transferred in because of an unknowing offense to Kyoka, and is now viciously bullied every single day; the roof of the school building is her only real refuge. Her way of thinking is a little strange, but she and Kouhei have a number of pleasant conversations and she seems to be a very kind girl. If the player chooses her route, she is revealed to be intensely depressed and considering suicide; Kouhei is her only reason for not going through with it yet. As her route progresses, she's also revealed to have a deeply hidden dark side, along with troubles at home.
In her bad ending (and if the player doesn't choose her route), she actually attempts suicide, but survives... and is hospitalized in critical condition. In her good ending, she confronts Kyoka and Gaito with Kouhei after her Attempted Rape, and moves in with Kouhei's family.
- An Offer You Can't Refuse: She initially attempts to tie Kouhei to her by having sex with him, and threatening to kill herself if he refuses to go out with her.
Aeka: Go out with me. Or else. |
- Beautiful Dreamer: Kouhei notes how peaceful and kind Aeka looks when she sleeps. But he also notes that underneath that kind exterior, she keeps some seriously strong emotions.
- Beware the Nice Ones: A lesson Kyoka won't soon forget.
- Cloudcuckoolander
- Cute and Psycho: She also has Yandere tendencies, but she resists them.
- Dissonant Serenity
- Driven to Suicide
- Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: It's subtle, but she gets these when she tries to smile during the bullying.
- First Girl Wins: If the player chooses her route.
- Get It Over With: She tells this to Kyoka after her Traumatic Haircut, which really freaks Kouhei out. Turns out that it was a thinly veiled warning that she would kill Kyoka if Kyoka didn't kill her.
- I Just Want to Have Friends: Type B. She believes it's a simple wish, and is incredibly happy when she and Kouhei start going out. She makes sure to point out this wish to Kyoka whilst she strangles her.
Aeka: Feeling good...or feeling relieved...Kouhei-kun gave that all back to me. I always thought having one person like that would be enough. |
- Leitmotif: "On The Moonlit Rooftop".
- Loners Are Freaks
- Not So Weak: As shown in the climax of her route.
- Sitting on the Roof: Aeka's personal sanctuary is the school rooftop. She even has her own key to the rooftop doors. She reveals that the reason she has the key is so she can go up there and jump off the roof if the bullying ever got too bad.
- Shout-Out: Her blanket is probably one to Peanuts.
- Stepford Smiler
- White-Haired Pretty Girl
- Violently Protective Girlfriend: She can endure being tormented, but when Kyoka starts targeting Kouhei as well, she doesn't take it sitting down.
Kirimiya Mizuki
"Emotions are a physical thing. Shouting feels good. So does shedding tears." |
The Student Council President; a student in the year above Kouhei's. She and Kouhei first met when he had to get some papers from the student council room and found her trying out her dad's cigarettes, and during the game she decides to forcibly recruit him as a helper. If the player goes along with it, she eventually winds up having sex with Kouhei when her normal reward of choice, cake, isn't available. ("Well, don't they say that girls are made of sugar and spice?") From then on, her route is filled with forcing her duties onto Kouhei and sexually harassing him; it eventually becomes clear that Mizuki is hooked on pleasure-seeking behavior because she has no sense of her own future. During her route, she gets pregnant, which should not surprise anyone considering how much unprotected sex she and Kouhei have. Kouhei's family disapprove of her at first.
In her bad end, she dies from complications in childbirth, possibly a form of eclampsia. In her good end, she reunites with Kouhei just in time to have their baby on his bed, and the new family moves in with the Kagamis.
- All Women Are Lustful: Her route contains the most H-scenes in the game by far.
- Babies Ever After
- Babies Make Everything Better Justified; it's thanks to having a child that Mizuki finally stops worrying about her future, and gives both her and Kouhei a purpose whilst cementing the couple's relationship.
- Big Eater:
- Birth-Death Juxtaposition In her good ending, Kouhei notes that as their child is born, he sees the worry and fear finally die in Mizuki. He sums it up quite nicely:
Kouhei: They're both crying because they've both been born. |
- Blackmail Is Such an Ugly Word: She has a mind-boggling amount of...'compromising' information on nearly everyone she knows. Including Kouhei's internet browsing history, and his auditory hallucinations.
- Crazy Prepared: See the above entry on Blackmail. She has a lot of dirt on everyone, from Kouhei to the teachers. And it's a good thing that she has plenty of real estate in her name - given her disinheritance from the family in her good end.
- Desperately Looking for a Purpose In Life: And finds it by starting a family with Kouhei.
- Leitmotif: "Girls Are Made Of Frosting Cake", and "The Plot Suddenly Thickens". The latter of the two plays in a few of her H-scenes.
- Lonely Rich Kid: Mizuki's aloof attitude often pushes others away from her. Her crippling fear of her future (or lack thereof) makes her feel even more lonely.
- The Ojou: She's the beautiful, intelligent daughter of a very wealthy family. Kouhei wonders why she even came to his school in the first place.
- Revenge: When a former Student Council member steals her cake, she swears to get her revenge.
Mizuki: I'll make her wish she was never born, for this. |
- Student Council President: Though she isn't keen on her role. She prefers shirking her duties because she feels that the role has been forced on her, and that it doesn't help her forget her fear of the future.
Cat Sidhe Nekoko (Sakurai Hiroko)
"A thank-you blessing from the fairy!" |
A strange girl who Kouhei meets in the back alley behind the store he works at. She endears herself to him by begging for food, disrupting his life at every opportunity, and in her own route, dragging him along on her personal quest. She claims to be a fairy, and is searching for the "fairy world" armed with a cattle prod and a complete lack of common sense; Kouhei is annoyed and fascinated by her in turns. Eventually, though, it's revealed that Nekoko's weird manic energy comes from a Fantastic Drug she's addicted to, and Kouhei is left trying to find a way to make her stop taking it.
Nekoko is actually Hiroko, a cripplingly shy librarian at Kouhei's school, who turned to drugs out of desperation and loneliness. In her bad ending, she disappears and is never found; in her good ending, she becomes a theme park designer after accepting her identity as Hiroko, and reunites with Kouhei at the opening of her magnum opus, "Cat Sidhe Wonderland".
- Catgirl
- Genki Girl
- Gratuitous English
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall
- Leitmotif: The aptly named "The Catgirl Stomped".
- Manic Pixie Dream Girl: Both by the definition of the trope and... well, literally.
- Psycho Electro
- Shrinking Violet
- Zettai Ryouiki
Kagami Aya
"Underneath that front of yours, you're really complicated." |
Kouhei's adopted little sister, who he teases mercilessly (she teases him right back). She's the source of a few Author Filibuster rants, and tends to be very concerned for her brother's well-being. Out of the heroines, she only really approves of Aeka (at least at first).
After Kouhei plays an eroge featuring Brother-Sister Incest, he starts wondering if a Not Blood Siblings romance is possible between them. It isn't, but it REALLY confuses Aya when he brings it up!
- Annoying Younger Sibling
- Brother-Sister Incest: Wondered about by Kouhei. Can't forget the groping scene, either.
- Friend to All Children: Aya really takes to Kouhei and Mizuki's child. So much so that she takes steps to become a midwife.
- Little Sister Heroine: The story really teases about the issue, but in the end she either never had a route or it was cut.
- Motor Mouth
- Naked People Are Funny
- Pettanko
- Urban Legend of Zelda: Rumor is that she was supposed to have her own route, but that it got cut. New players often wonder if she's a secret heroine.
Nanjou Kyoka (Antoinette)
"You look preoccupied. I'm really worried about you." |
A popular girl in Kouhei's class. She seems to have the hots for him and is constantly asking him out, but he dislikes her attitude and mentally calls her Antoinette (after... well, guess). She controls most of the girls in the class, and directs them (and many of the guys) to bully Aeka, who she hates because her boyfriend hit on her. Kyoka acts very cutesy around Kouhei, but as the story progresses, she starts showing a very ugly side. When she's angry, she talks in the extremely-manly pidgin Japanese that changes the ii sounds at the end of words to ee, unusual for a female character.
In every route but Aeka's, she exits the story when the police call her in for questioning about Aeka's attempted suicide. In Aeka's route, though, she's the main villain; eventually she attacks Kouhei and Aeka and tries to get her boyfriend to rape Aeka, which backfires spectacularly when Kouhei manages to hold her hostage. They nearly strangle her to death, and then blackmail her into leaving them alone.
- Alpha Bitch
- Girl Posse
- Hypocrite: She despises Aeka because Aeka accepts her boyfriend's advances, not knowing he was going out with Kyoka. So what does she do? She sanctions and helps out with his Attempted Rape of Aeka.
- The Kid With the Leash: She's more or less the only person with even a modicum of control over her incredibly violent, unstable Jerkass of a boyfriend.
- Minor Injury Overreaction: She screams pretty loud when Kouhei makes a small cut on her neck to make the rest of her gang back off during the climax of Aeka's route.
- No Campaign for the Wicked: You have a thing for Kouhei? Too bad, you're evil. No route for you.
- No Dead Body Poops: Ironically, it's actually what saves her from being strangled to death.
- Traumatic Haircut
Tsubaki Hirofumi
"Way to go! You definitely got her scenario!" |
Kouhei's sempai at work. Very, very, very gay and very VERY into Kouhei, although his flirting makes Kouhei nervous. Hirofumi also happens to be a devoted eroge (particularly Utsuge) otaku, which leads Kouhei to mentally nickname him "ero-gay". (This was changed to "gay puff" in Peach Princess' localization, since they translated "eroge" as "porn games", and the pun was lost.) He delivers a few Author Filibuster speeches, and advises Kouhei on his troubles in Aeka and Nekoko's routes.
He also manages to get Kouhei hooked on eroge himself.
- Gay Option: Played with, but unfortunately for players who are into that kind of thing, there's no route for him either.
- Genre Savvy: What do you expect?
- Magical Queer
- Otaku Surrogate
Others
Sayama Misaki and Iogi Takeshi
Kouhei's classmates and friends. Misaki acts as a voice of reason and likes to offer advice and help, while Takeshi bears with Kouhei's occasional eccentricities and warns him when he may be taking things too far... though he doesn't come along for the ride.
They mostly appear earlier on in the story, before the focus begins to shift onto Kouhei's relationship with one of the heroines. However, in Aeka's route, they both try to warn Kouhei to stop getting involved with her - and once their relationship is made known in class, they immediately distance themselves from him.
- A Friend in Need: Averted in Aeka's route. They distance themselves from her, and when the class knows Kouhei and Aeka are going out, they immediately cut all ties with him.
Kouhei: Sayama... and Iogi. Those may be called friends, but all I did was talk to them when I saw them. Nothing more. |
- The Ghost: Misaki's boyfriend, who is mentioned early on in the story but is never shown on screen.
- Those Two Guys
Mr. and Mrs. Kagami
Kouhei's adoptive parents. Close friends with Kouhei's biological parents, they took Kouhei into their home after his birth parents passed away. They're supportive and loving to both of their children, although they can't help but worry that Kouhei seems to be distancing himself from them.
- Happily Adopted: They took Kouhei into their home and loved him as they would their own blood. Kouhei, however, distances himself somewhat from them through most of the routes, before getting over his insecurities about them.
- Berserk Button: In Mizuki's route, Mr. Kagami angrily demands Kouhei stops seeing Mizuki after finding out she's behind his recent illnesses. When Kouhei rebuffs him, claiming he's not his real father, Mr. Kagami hits him and tearfully calls him his one and only son.
