  • Say what you will about Dragonforce, but This video will make you choke up.
  • Broken Saints has a number of these, chiefly:
  • Several in Survival of the Fittest, although given the premise of the roleplay, that isn't really surprising. One example is the death of Andrew Lipson. He is hit by lightning, and survives, however, the electronics on his wheelchair are shorted out. This leaves him attempting to arrest his descent down a slope, an endeavour in which he fails, causing him to fall from a cliff. He doesn't die, and is left, immobile, on the beach below as the tide comes in, causing him to slowly drown. The fact that he was talking to his best friend on the phone when the lightning struck makes it even more saddening.
    • Also, Hawley Faust's death - giving in to his injuries after days of struggling to overcome his wounds. The emotional reactions of the other characters around him are what makes this especially upsetting.
      • The ending of v2 counts, too. At least what parts of it have come out so far.
    • V3. Three people needlessly die in under a minute, and the rest realize just how empty the game has really made them. Words cannot do it justice.
      • The one where the members of SADD came in before that chain of events was Tear Jerker]] as well. Corbin's death from poison after committing an Heroic Sacrifice to give the rest of the members time to recover before slowly dying and requesting the song American Pie by Don Mc Lean and rain falling down and Dominica crying.
    • As long as we're on the subject of v3 deaths, the death of Jake Henkie counts. All the guy does is yell his best friend's name upon seeing her - unfortunately, a student hiding in the bushes nearby is startled, and shoots him in the head, blowing off half of his jaw. He dies in the arms of Trish Mc Carroll, unable to even speak to her, and Trish is completely devastated. Read it here for the depressing details.
    • The Answer.
    • A White and Soundless Place. The death of "Dutchy" Ayers.
  • Bree's death (and posthumous phone message) in the Lonelygirl15 "Season Finale".
    • Gina's Heroic Sacrifice in "Prom: It's To Die For".
      • If the episode itself didn't get you, "No More Fear" will.
  • Charlie's tearful goodbye in the Kate Modern episode "I Miss You...": "You couldn't sleep. And now you can sleep. You can sleep, Kate. Goodnight, Kate; I miss you so much."
  • Oddly enough, Zero Punctuation had one at the end of his review for Sim City Societies. Poor Medic...
  • This animation
  • At the end of the 6th arc of the otherwise very carefree and funny Nameless series, we discover a new supporting character's mother had sex with him. Right after we discover this, he stabs both of the other new, likable supporting characters, straddles one, and talks to her while mutilating her body. The fact that it's played for laughs doesn't detract from it's impact.
  • The last few seconds Weebl and Bob's 100th episode packed quite a punch.

Weebl: But... but I love donkey! DONKEY, DON'T DIE!

  • The final two parts of Meet me in the graveyard, especially with the distressingly ambiguous ending.
  • Considering the whole series started as a spoof of the "I'm A Mac / I'm A PC" ads featuring superhero action figures snarking about each other's movies, the final part of Its Just Some Random Guy's first YouTube Marvel / DC series "After Hours" has far more Tear Jerker moments than it by rights should have. Superman's crisis of confidence? Captain America's words of inspiration from beyond the grave? Superman's moment of self-sacrifice? ("But no one will ever know!" "I'll know.") The Marvel heroes denying Luthor's Hannibal Lecture by acknowledging that they believe in Superman? Stan Lee's tribute to Superman?
  • If Only To Fly. A little bit like Kiwi: The Musical.
  • The toon The Secrets That I Keep on Homestar Runner. It's really depressing how much Strong Bad and Strong Sad's relationship got derailed.
    • The Decemberween Email page to be bizarrely sad.
      • The Paper seen dying after so long shocked and startled fans, going into a deep, probing (made-up) montage. Many fans saw this coming due to a spoiler in Strong Bad Email "montage", and still others thought this was a fitting/hilarious end to The Paper. His counterpart, New Paper, became The Scrappy and the Replacement Scrappy at the same time, and its death in "email thunder" may be considered fanservice.
    • This is actually parodied with Li'l Brudder. You might start crying... until the end, when you can't stop grinning.
  • Watch this Filpnote and cry.
  • Tir Nan Og
  • There is a new fad of "and [Engrish name of a character]" videos on YouTube, which shows a still picture with Tear Jerker stories in the comments. There is one for everybody. And SehntreeAnd Snipa ... try not to get too touched.
  • The SCP Foundation. Specifically, the fate of SCP-231-7. That poor girl defines woobie. Extreme combination of Nightmare Fuel and Tear Jerker.
    • Not just 231-7. SCP-132 feels all of the pain and sorrow in the world. SCP-202 lives his life backwards. SCP-590 is an abused victim of a cruel organization that uses him as a dumping ground for disease. SCP-116, the Brittle Boy, has no joints: every time he moves, he breaks his bones and heals them up again, causing extreme pain. The Foundation's humanoid SCPs are generally either this or Nightmare Fuel.
    • "black white black white black white black white gray", just in case you needed another reminder that the Foundation is in a Crapsack World.
  • Beyond The Window, a small animation about a disabled boy who wishes upon a star. If you take a look at the lyrics set to it partway down this page, it makes it even more sad.
  • Draw With Me. The person who animated it has made several illustrations with these characters. And then he drew this. Spoilers for the video. But my goodness...
  • Episodes two and five of Tree From My Youth. Episode two for, well, Hinawa's death and Flint's reaction, and episode five for Claus finally giving his last breath, narrowly missed being heard by his father and grandfather. Buzzards are barely audible as they begin to tear him apart. The latter moment is quite possibly worse, as Claus's actor had his tonsils removed a few days before recording and had trouble speaking.
  • You wouldn't think a Youtube Poop would be tear jerker material, but you're sadly mistaken.
  • Dorf Quest - If you manage to NOT cry when Garrelf died, or when Driblis made his last stand... well, you sir are a robot.
  • Anyone who thinks Neopets is an innocent, happy online game for kids has never watched Happy Endings. If this doesn't seem to be Tear Jerker material at first, just wait for the last three episodes.
  • Alice and Kev is a blog following the adventures of a homeless family in The Sims. What they go through has encouraged the creator to reevaluate his life. That's right, the writer tearjerked HIMSELF.
  • This I'm a Marvel And I'm a DC video. This one, too.
  • Days with my father is a heartwarming story, and deserves to be shown to the world.
  • This animation. Everything about it.... just look at Linus's expression when Fantine tells him "They divorced... the week after". The picture that it is based on is even worse.
  • Laugh if you will, but the final episode of Saladfingers. After having a hallucination about his radio (who demands that he give back some hairs he found on the floor), he refuses and hides in his "protection cupboard". The last scene shows him eating the hairs while crying, and the camera zooms back to show his house, as you hear him crying.
  • Part Two of the finale for Arby 'n' the Chief, when Chief and the Arbiter realize that they're beginning to fall apart.
  • "I'm sorry... you never knew the real Rudi... I have doomed us all...."
  • There She Is doesn't seem like one at first. But with five animated shorts, you start getting into the Unstoppable Rage and Tear Jerker territories at the fourth episode--maybe the third if you understand the implications at the very ending.
  • I'm... not really sure if this belongs here, but first, an explaination: You know the upcoming Epic Mickey game? You know, the one that portrays Walt Disney's first creation Oswald the Lucky Rabbit as a vengeful villain? Well, many Deviantart artists (including myself) have done creepy art of him as a bad guy, but a bit of fanart shook up this perception. If you can look at these images (in order) without even tearing up, then you have no soul.
  • this Left 4 Dead fan comic about the five boss characters before the infection.
  • Cracked, of all places, manages one with this article about Kristen Bell. The description of a hypothetical marriage with her is unexpectedly touching.
  • This Team Fortress 2 video could probably get a few people to tear up.
    • And...
    • TF2 Troubles starts out funny, but nosedives into tragedy near the end. Especially after the Fridge Horror that the Engineer has to relive this cycle over and over again.
  • Red's death in There Will Be Brawl. The funeral and accompanying song -- perfectly in sync with the rest of what's going on -- makes it even sadder.
    • "So, uh...was I any good?"
  • Not sure if it should be posted here, or under the Real Life section, but the "faceless" cat always makes me tear up.
  • More fan art: Anyone who loves Calvin and Hobbes will probably want me dead for posting this.
  • Kiwi. Just, just Kiwi.
  • The Madness Combat series, at the very end of number 6, with Hank, lower jaw completely gone, missing teeth in his upper, his skull smashed to the point that his brain is exposed, and just finding that his nemesis, Tricky, has not only survived being shot and dropped off the cliff, but come back as some horrific monster. When the Bad Ass that never shows unflinching hesitation at * anything* stops for a few seconds to stare in disbelief, but then kicks back into the "screw you" mode and starts firing..... it gets to me.
  • The endings of the Colour My Series flash games can really get to you. The music, too.
  • The British Railway Series, a Thomas the Tank Engine-inspired YouTube series showing the lives of real engines, has its share. The biggest is in The Legacy of Gadwall, when Gadwall, the first engine to have been renamed Sir Ralph Wedgewood, dies during the bombing of York station. Carly Simon's version of Danny Boy is used to great effect.
  • The end of Alfred's Playhouse (NSFW!) in which Alfred confronts his mind. In fact, the whole series. Something about the sexually abused dog who desperately retreats into a fantasy world in order to escape the trauma really gets to me.
  • One of the most tragic scenes in The Salvation War opens chapter 29, when the decimated survivors of Abigor's army return; there are only 3 to 4 hundred living daemons out of 400,000, and many of those survivors were left cripples maimed by human weaponry. More than any other this one scene, with female daemons desperately searching for their mates among the survivors on a parade ground, drives home the extent of the futility of the daemon incursion that never made it past the first, only, and decisive battle on Earth.
    • A subsequent scene also starring Abigor is when Satan punishes him for his failure by ordering him to make another attack using his entire clan (including mates and kidlings) and the army's survivors, which is so obviously a forced suicide that he ends up deliberately bunching up his rag-tag "force" in hopes that the inevitable artillery shelling will kill them instantly instead of leaving them horribly maimed. Fortunately, the artillery barrage is targeted around them, and he is allowed to surrender.
    • Perhaps even more tragic are the scenes in Chapters 70 and 71 of Pantheocide following Uxhalar, an angel who survived the nuclear strike on Elhmas' army, as he dies of radiation poisoning.
  • America's Saddest Home Videos. You'd expect a parody of America's Funniest Home Videos showcasing some of the most tragic incidents caught on tape to have at least a few laughs in it, but it plays the title straight.
    • Honest Graduation Song, also from Collegehumor counts, espically for actual grad students who go through the same thing.
  • This impression of Mark Hamill's Joker saying a speech from The Killing Joke is a surprising tearjerker. It actually makes you feel bad for the Joker, and that's no small feat.
  • Ahmad's death in The Leet World.

Ahmad:Guess I'm just a Noob to the end?

Cortez: No Ahmad, you are a noobito no longer. I know now you are the greatest badass the world has ever seen

Ahmad: Awe...Some...

My best friend died in a car accident on his way to deliver me soup for my cold. Found in the car was also a bouquet of flowers and a card that read: "We've been best friends for the last 5 years. Now, let's be lovers for the next 50." Unforgettable love Gives Me Hope.

  • Some chain letters. One in particular where a girl got into a car accident after drinking, and asked the doctors just before she died to tell her parents she was sorry...but they couldn't, because her parents had been in the other car.
  • Susan's death in Chewbot's Let's Play of Plague and Treachery On The Oregon Trail, or at least her least words - "I love you, yoo stupid american."
  • The Guild: There's a rather sad moment right near the end of series 3 ep 9 where Codex realises that the Knights Of Good have completely collapsed thanks to the rival guild
    • The end of season 2, when [[spoiler:she's casually discarded by the man she's been pining over with the words "She isn't worth fighting over." That bastard.
  • Say what you will about Gaia Online. One of their more recent Manga updates shows that anyone can indeed die and was downright depressing. Johnny K. Gambino fans in particular will find this one hard to read.
    • This isn't the first time Gambino has been shot fatally by an assassin. This time he wasn't even falling from a tower into the ocean.
      • True, and there's a few theories out there already that say he's either alive and ordering hits on clones, has come back as a grunny, or will come back in the future. Still, he wasn't exactly crazy enough to inject himself with his own experiments this time around as far as anyone knows, and Gino wasn't around this time so that even if Johnny was that crazy they couldn't meld together like last time. And assuming he didn't have any rings on him, he probably isn't Dazed and hiding out in the Null Chamber. And if he does turn out alive by the end, it's gonna be one of the cheapest cop-outs in storyline history; any attempts to justify it would be similarly cheap.
  • New York Magician: The death of Michel's grandmother.
  • Laugh all you want, but this LOLcats image...
  • The Game Overthinker episode 7 perfectly describes the feeling of a new Nintendo game.
  • Leave Me. The saddest film ever. Words do not do it justice.
  • Shii's Song. Just...Shii's Song. * sniff*
  • The Dragon In My Dreams. James Rolfe finally meets his inspiration as he first saw it as a child just before it was gone...
  • I see Mario, Luigi too, he's player one, he's player two. And I think to myself, Super Mario World...
  • One Rat Short is an amazingly made little video, but is also a Tear Jerker.
    • Well, it got me and my mom bawling.
  • Kiwi! Just... just watch it.
  • Today I Die
  • "I'm Not Going To Think About Her". The artist narrates in a perfect monotone with zero affect, and it still manages to be heartbreaking.
  • All About My Dog: Marimo, found here. The family's reaction to Marimo's death, which is a majority of the film.
  • This dark comic on "Little Red Riding Hood" tears me up, however since it's a "dark" comic, a small part of the comic is NSFW.
  • Rest in peace, Nibbles. This nuzlocke fan flash.
  • This Iron Giant Fan Vid.
  • In Chaos Fighters: Cyber Assault-The Secret Programs, Kalen's resurrected as a guardian son, Leon dreamed of her was getting attacked after hugging her legs. In return, he blocked her from an attack when she was trying to get him by force after he woke up from his nightmare. Cue he begging her to switch sides while losing his consciousness. He survived, though.
  • This Homestar Runner fan video.
  • The guy on Newgrounds who goes by the name Josh Kemp made this song called "Long Walk Home". It will bring you to tears.
  • The Perspectives series. Story one: part one, part two, part three. Story two: part one, part two, part three.
  • Oh, Cheezburger Network, you make a living out of trolling and then you hit me with this...
  • What could possibly be sad about a video review of Cosmic Encounter and Heroscape? If you haven't heard the news already, watch the whole thing to the end, and then think a for a minute. It's not mentioned in the video itself, but it's inclusion on this page is a major hint. his son passed away not long after that video was made.
  • Browsing Youtube, you may come across a vid called "Schindler's List: The Musical". At first, you may think it's a troll video designed to incite anger. Then you watch it. And you bawl.
  • Immor Tall. Just play the game.
  • There's one in Marble Hornets. Jay's Twitter post on December 25, 2010 reads: "Lonely holiday, but not as bad as last year. At least I didn't have to climb a rotting tower this time." More than anything else, more than the stalking, the attacks, the disappearances, the hotels, all that driving, even the apartment incident, this drives home the idea that this is his life now. He doesn't have anything else, and he's alone in the world; the rare few human beings he encounters, including old friends, have questionable intentions at best. All just because he wanted to find out what happened to Alex. Curiosity Ruined The Cast's Life, indeed.
    • Also, entry 35, in which Alex and Jay find out Masky is Tim, and Alex ends up smashing Tim's leg. Poor Tim. And it's entirely possible that he was trying to HELP Alex and Jay, but instead, Alex attacks him. In fact, if it weren't for Jay, Alex most likely would have killed Tim.
  • There are plenty in Everyman HYBRID, mostly due to every character becoming The Woobie at at least one point or another. Of special mention, Jessa's implied fate and Jeff's reactions, as well as Alex's refusal to accept his parents' deaths and how broken he seems to react to Sparky's death, and some of the Corenthal letters. All mixed with healthy doses of Nightmare Fuel. And Jeff's tweet after mother's day: (spoilers)
  • Mame Love, set to a song by Chinese singer Li Li Fen. Also from the site is Mame Forever, set to Alphaville's Forever Young. Try not to cry while watching these Flash animations...
  • And oh, if you think Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody is tearjerking as is, singing the song to the Engrish that is the Zero Wing European Mega Drive intro takes it up to a whole new level. It may seem Narm at first, but once you get to the ending... See it here.
  • Robochi Gets Flamed. A robot who has the misfortune of not having hands with fingers types up gibberish instead of her(?) true feelings on an episode of her favorite show for a fan-forum...ItGotWorse. Don't cry, little robot...you didn't mean any of it...
  • 3 words for you: It Gets Better.
  • Shane Dawson's pray for Japan video, it's just so sad to see how one of the funniest guys on the YouTube was affected by the Tsunami.
  • Normal, a short amateur film some high school kids did for a contest a few years ago. It's just...god, something about it is just so...profound, in a really sad way. "You have a choice to make. You can live a normal life...or you can be happy." And then the final scene with the guy hanging out and just enjoying life with all of his imaginary friends...*wibble*
  • This video. So simple, so beautiful. Beautiful song, beautiful animation, beautifully put-together, and utterly soul-crushing. "I thought of you, where you'd gone, and the world spins madly on."
  • Lenore the Cute Little Dead Girl. But given that the main character dies, it should be tragic. Also given the fact that Ragamuffin would now be alone. She returned in the continuation of the comic, though.
  • We all love our fandoms on Tumblr, but it's touching when fandoms stand up for one another.
  • One Chance: No matter what you do, you just can't win...
  • The death of Kitty Amazing will oddly make you choke up watching it.
  • One Chance is a game available for play on Kongregate. You play a scientist who must live through the last six days of humankind's existence on Earth. Why? You helped develop a cancer vaccine, but it proved deadly. So many people took it, that even those who didn't feel that there is no point in going on living. You can choose to divide your time at home or at work. But no matter how much you go to work, the situation will not get better. On the third day, your wife commits suicide. On another day, you can go to the roof and watch a coworker jump off. And then, on the sixth day, the scientist lies down on the cold floor of his lab, alone. The game does not end after this. There are no credits, no final scene. Despite the primitive graphics, One Chance is an absolutely effective tragedy.
  • In the web original story Paperwalls, the death and funeral of Sandy Shaw, Cameron's mother
  • This excellent Batman fanvid set to "Hurt" by Johnny Cash sums up Batman's character very well, while being quite sad, (though considering the subject matter...)
  • You'd think a funny internet show like Leo and Satan would usually have a funny ending every episode. The episode "Trash Hazard" subverts the usual happy ending by having Satan accidentally killing Leo and crying over his grave. This scene isn't even Played for Laughs. Talk about a Mood Whiplash...
  • You wouldn't expect to cry from something on a site called "Pokémemes", but...
  • On the subject of Pokémemes, Dragonite Dad.
  • Extinct Animals of the 20th Century
  • Red vs. Blue Season 9's ending: "No, I forget you." Tex disappears for good. That is probably what the quote was about, forgetting about Tex/Alison and moving on.
  • 80% of Die Anstalt is this. The remaining 20% is Nightmare Fuel.
  • The Sean Bean Death Reel. Most of his roles were villains and had it coming to them, but, especially because of the sad music that plays, watching such a likable actor die over and over again is really heartwrenching.
  • The Youtube Poop Dora's Miscalculation.
