Main Group

As a whole

• Bad Liar: Tori isn't convinced for even a nanosecond that there isn't something up with the ping pong team.
• The Beautiful Elite: They're more or less the only seven people at the school who are good looking and they've got all the talent. Lampshaded by Sinjin.
• Five-Token Band: Tori and Trina are half-Latina, André is African American, Beck is Indian, Cat and Robbie (going by their last names) are Italian and Jewish, respectively, and Jade is... something (the fandom seems to think she's of Irish descent).
• Four-Girl Ensemble: Tori, Jade, Cat, and Trina contrasting André, Beck and Robbie.
• The Friends Who Never Hang: Tori and Robbie are the only ones who have stories with every other member.
  • Cat always has an intermediary (usually Tori or Jade) when talking to Beck or André.
  • André and Beck, who are supposed to be Heterosexual Life Partners, rarely hang out alone.
  • Jade, as The Friend Nobody Likes, is only there because she tags along with Cat and/or Beck and Beck himself is a Satellite Character to Tori and Jade. Likewise, Cat and Jade are supposed to be best friends yet in every instance where they're hanging out without someone else, Jade seems to be barely holding herself back from murdering Cat.
  • Even Tori and Jade, whose relationship forms the arguable crux of the whole show, rarely interact alone. Justified since Jade is a Green-Eyed Monster towards Tori and doesn't care to be reminded that she's Always Second Best. Jade might also be The Artifact given that, following Season 1, the show stopped focusing on her bullying Tori and her relationship with Beck.
• Gender Equal Ensemble: If Trina is absent.
• Hypocrite:
  • They follow the rules of the Bird Scene by not helping Tori but freely commit fraud with their ping pong team.
  • They all think Tori needs to take more risks and branch out more in The Gorilla Club. She takes more risks than all of them combined.
• Karma Houdini: As per The Great Ping Pong Scam, they've gotten away with fraud at least three times.
• Not So Above It All: Though Jade and Trina will do any selfish act at the drop of a hat, the rest of them all have their own Jerkass moments.
• True Companions: Well André, Beck, and Tori at any rate, being the only tri-grouping who always looks out for one another and wouldn't qualify as The Friend Nobody Likes. Though the whole group sticks by each other in the end, they're still prone to some pretty petty and vicious arguments. They're arguably a Deconstruction of this.

Victoria "Tori" Vega

Portrayed by: Victoria Justice

• Accidental Hero: Getting Melinda Murray impaled with an arrow.
• The Ace: Downplayed compared to Zoey, but like Carly before her, Tori only seems to lose once in a blue moon and can master just about any skill given time.
  • She's frequently implied to be the intellectually smartest member of the gang, quickly thinking ways out of problems (see The Diddly Bops and Locked Up!) and being the only one to get through Brain Squeezers (a sadistic trivia game show) unharmed, suggesting she answered all her questions about obscure trivia correctly.
• Actor Shared Background: Inverted. She's Puerto Rican on her father's side and Irish on her mother's, the opposite of Victoria Justice's parentage.
• Alliterative Name: One of her posts on TheSlap.com states that if she had been a boy her parents would have named her Victor, so her nickname would have been Tor. This implies that her full name is Victoria Vega, and therefore fits this trope.
• Almost Kiss:
  • A one-sided one with André in Jade Gets Crushed. She slaps him away with a pillow, throughly freaked out and disgusted.
  • Another one with Beck in Tori Goes Platinum, but she refuses out of respect for Jade's feelings.
• Always Someone Better: To Jade. Tori may be a relative newcomer in the performing arts but whenever she and Jade compete for a role, Tori comes out on top.
  • Just look at how much applause Jade and Cat's duet gets in Freak the Freak Out and compare that to Tori's solo later in the episode.
• Ambiguously Bi: Has drooled over a lot of guys but also makes a few comments here and there that suggest she finds Cat, Jade, Carly and many other females pretty in more than just a casual manner. It's noteworthy that whenever she's singing love songs, she never bothers to alter the gender pronoun suggesting she's fine with both.
• Awesomeness By Analysis: How she mastered dance routines in the Pilot and The Gorilla Club.
• Aw, Look -- They Really Do Love Each Other: With Trina, the most significant moment being the end of Helen Back Again.
• Bare Your Midriff: Occasionally.
• Beauty Equals Goodness: TheSlap considers her the prettiest girl in the school and she's clearly one of the nicest.
• Beauty Is Never Tarnished: In Brain Squeezers.
• Betty and Veronica: Her personality makes her Betty but her newcomer status makes her Veronica with regards to Beck and Jade's relationship. Not that she actually views herself as a love interest for Beck.
• Beware the Nice Ones: Go too far towards her or one of her friends and she will make you pay. A lot of one shot villains have found this out the hard way.
  • The fact that she was about to taze a cop in Stage Fighting who was prepared, yet reluctant, to pull a stun gun on her.
  • Just being called a grunch by one of the girls in Beck's car in Driving Tori Crazy, provoked her enough to attack her. And she won the following one on four fight.
  • It's noteworthy that she's the one to come up with the idea of publicly humiliating and exposing Steven as a cheater. Carly only suggested iCarly as the vehicle to do it.
  • Jade in particular never seems to learn that while it takes a lot to properly anger Tori, it's never pretty when she's successful in doing so. Those rare times Tori does fire back, it's not mocking Jade's talent and appearance, it's deconstructing how hollow and empty Jade is inside and how messed up her and Beck's relationship is, something Jade knows she can't argue against.
• Big Little Sister: She's just taller than Trina. It became more noticeable in the second half of the show.
• Bigger Is Better: Tori's fan in Survival Of The Hottest.
• Bilingual Bonus: Speaks Spanish, Guatemalan, and the fictional Yerbanian.
• Brainy Brunette: An implied genius level IQ and has brown hair.
• Butt Monkey: To a certain extent.
• Cassandra Truth: Crazy Ponnie.
• Catch Phrase: "I DON'T TALK LIKE THAT!" Said whenever someone (usually Jade) mocks something she said while affecting a Southern Belle accent. You know, to make Tori sound stupid.
• Cat Fight: With Jade twice in The Wood. Also with those four girls in Beck's car in Driving Tori Crazy.
• Covert Pervert: During Sleepover at Sikowitz's, she really doesn't mind Beck invading her personal space.
• The Danza: Though her full name is never said, it's pretty heavily implied (by ancillary media and simple common sense) to be "Victoria."
• Dance Battler: Defeats the Gorilla by doing the Hammer Dance before kicking it off the crate.
• Deadpan Snarker: While nowhere near the level of Jade, she can dip into this on occasion. Jade is generally the one to bring this side of her out.
• Dreadful Musician: In Season 1, Tori had to be kept away from any musical instrument (justified since she'd never played one). Come Season 3 however and she's mastered the piano.
• Even the Girls Want Her: Many a female guest star has commented on Tori's sexiness, her cheekbones in particular.
• Fascinating Eyebrow: Almost rivals Spock in its usage.
• For Want of a Nail: If Tori hadn't shown up at Hollywood Arts, Beck and Jade would have broken up forever, Robbie's blog would have been taken down, the gang would have gotten arrested at Maestro's, and André's musical career would have ended after the Diddly-Bops performance. And that's just in Season 1.
• Four-Temperament Ensemble: The Phlegmatic.
• Genki Girl: Not to the same extreme as Cat, but still qualifies.
• Half-Identifying Hybrid: Openly (and self) described as half-Latina/half-Irish but, as evidenced by André calling her "chica", everyone tends to treat her as just a Latina.
• Hundred-Percent Adoration Rating: In a sharp contrast to Jade and Trina.
• Hypocrite:
  • She has no problem kissing other girls' boyfriends (even those of her friends), yet wants revenge towards anyone who cheats on her or just uses her to fulfill their own goals. In her defence, she felt genuinely horrible when kissing Cat's boyfriend (though he was Tori's own ex-boyfriend and openly flaunting his new relationship right in her face) and Jade wholeheartedly had it coming.
  • In André's Horrible Girl, she tried to convince André not to date a girl just so he could sing for her dad, a famous music producer. At least, until he said she could sing with him.
• I Just Want to Be Normal: At first. Now she's more or less resigned to the weirdness of Hollywood Arts.
• Identical Stranger: Directly established to be one to Shelby Marx, and the larger Nick Verse indirectly makes her one to Lola Martinez.
  • YMMV on the "stranger" part to either of them.
• Idiot Ball: Tori thinking it was a good idea to trust Trina and Cat to get her solvent by the time the play started. This is hinted in one of her status updates on The Slap: "Never send Trina and Cat to do ANYTHING!!!"
• Informed Attractiveness: Oh she's very attractive, but in iParty with Victorious, we're given to believe she's way hotter than Shelby Marx (a character Victoria Justice portrayed before starring in Victorious). Though in fairness, Tori goes to a performing arts school while Shelby is an MMA fighter so it's very likely Tori puts more effort into dolling herself up.
• Informed Flaw: The Gorilla Club has everyone agree that she's a boring actress that needs to take more risks despite having had more varied roles than anyone else and undertaking more risks.
• Irony as She Is Cast: Though Tori is the Naive Newcomer at Hollywood Arts (at least at first), Victoria Justice was the most experienced actress in the cast when the show started.
• Jack of All Trades: Though singing is her main trade, she can act, dance, and even organize whole productions and events in days' time. And she's a top notch ping pong player and hamboner. If Tori can't do it, it's only because she's still mastering it.
• Karmic Jackpot: After Jade sees Tori refusing to kiss Beck out of her respect for her feelings, Jade finally says that they're friends (in her own way) before allowing Tori to sing in front of a national audience.
• Kick the Son of a Bitch: In Jade Dumps Beck, during Jade's breakdown, Tori outright tells Jade that they're not friends.
• Kirk Summation: Calls Jade "a mean, vicious person, with deep psychological problems" in Jade Gets Crushed. André is hard pressed to challenge that claim.
• Let Us Never Speak of This Again: Her armpit cream in Robarazzi.
• Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: The light to Trina and Jade's dark.
• Made of Iron: Very little leaves a mark on this girl and what does heals pretty quickly.
• Magnetic Hero: Tori's nice personality just attracts everyone to her and makes them want to befriend her. Deconstructed slightly as she's shown to attract quite a few douchebag boyfriends.
• Malaproper: In Survival of the Hottest, Tori berates Jade with a vicious "Thank you, Catherine Obvious." Cue confusion from the other characters. After they correct her, she weakly tries to defend herself by pointing out that Catherine could be a captain. In her defense...
• Meaningful Name/Punny Name: Victorious. In Japanese, her name means Bird, referring to songbirds. (Could also refer to The Bird Scene which Tori must successfully complete in order to be in Moonlight Magic.)
  • Stellar Name: Also her last name, Vega, is the brightest star in the constellation Lyra.
• Meganekko: Infrequently dons a set of reading glasses though it's unclear whether they're corrective or just a focusing tool.
• Moment of Weakness: Kissing Daniel in Cat's New Boyfriend (Daniel himself even confirms it was a hugely Out of Character for her) and it leads to a pretty large case of My God, What Have I Done?
• Morality Pet: Downplayed but she's the only one that Rex treats with consistent kindness.
• Ms. Fanservice: On occasion, look at Survival of the Hottest. Some Slap comments imply she's considered the prettiest girl in the school.
• The Muse: To André. If it wasn't for Tori, André wouldn't even have a music career following The Diddly Bops and she's often singing on stage with him so he can feel more comfortable.
• Mysterious Past: We know squat about what her life goals were before coming to Hollywood Arts and she's the only one to not get a flashback episode.
• New Transfer Student: When the series started anyway.
• Nice Girl: Notably, refuses to ever lash out at Jade despite the latter's horrible attitude towards her, even to the point where she won't kiss Beck out of respect for Jade's feelings, even though Jade and Beck are no longer together. However, she can have her Jerkass moments too though, to be fair, those moments are usually brought on by someone else being very obnoxious and fully deserving it.
• Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Mostly in the first season (such as in Beck's Big Break and Rex Dies) but she always fixes it.
  • Subverted in Tori Tortures Teacher where Sikowitz' depression is not because Tori took him to a play that made his life look worthless, but because he misses his girlfriend's pet cat.
• Nice, Mean and In-Between: The In-Between to Cat's Nice and Jade's Mean.
• Not So Above It All:
  • The episode heavily implies that she finds the secret of the ping pong team to be utterly ridiculous but that since she's forced the gang to tell her, she may as well get free food and piss Jade off.
  • In iParty with Victorious, she first agrees with Sam that they should physically hurt Steven.
• Offscreen Moment of Awesome:
  • Physically overpowering Trina in Freak the Freak Out. Doubly so when it's shown the guys can barely handle her.
  • Somehow getting the record label to give André a second shot in The Diddly-Bops. It's implied her actions bordered on You Do NOT Want to Know but it's never made clear.
  • Convincing the three thugs to help her out in Terror on Cupcake Street.
• Oh Crap: When Ms. Lee outright tells her she will get her revenge on Tori what she did to her daughter in Wok Star.
• Only Sane Woman: Shares this role with André and Beck in the group and is the sanest of the girls (not sane among the girls she's just the sanest one).
• Overdrawn At the Blood Bank: In Tori Gets Stuck.
• Platonic Life Partners: With André.
• The Rival: To Jade, though she makes it clear that she'd prefer to be Jade's friend.
• Running Gag: Ever since Rex Dies, people really can't stop mentioning Tori's cheekbones.
• The Scapegoat: Jade usually holds Tori responsible for anything that goes wrong (especially if it wasn't Tori's fault) and the other five's fear of Jade drives them to agree with her.
• Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After long hours of chopping squid, Ms. Lee lets Tori and Robbie leave seeing they paid off their bill. Robbie hops over the counter, only to break the plates, thus having Ms. Lee demand them to work some more. Tori says to hell with that and immediately ditches Robbie.
• She's Got Legs
• Sibling Yin-Yang: With Trina.
• Silent Snarker: Her signature reaction to Jade insulting her.
• Spicy Latina: You'll have to dig deep for it but she qualifies when she gets angry.
• Super Strength: Like her sister, she's a lot stronger than her appearance suggests.
• Sympathy for the Devil: Is always quick to forgive Jade. Although why, is unclear.
• The Tease: Downplayed compared to Cat, but it's suggested "flirty" is Tori's default conversation tone.
• Took a Level In Jerkass: Debatable in How Trina Got In. On the one hand, she was Robbie's guest and her frustration at the problem is completely understandable and Robbie is more to blame than her (especially given that he barely even tried to fix the problem) but then again, she did leave a friend alone in a restaurant with an irate staff whose boss had, not even half an hour ago, sworn Revenge on her.
• Took a Level In Kindness: Could have been Early Installment Weirdness or Characterization Marches On, but until Freak the Freak Out, Tori did have some more bitchy, jerkass, and snarky moments. Maybe it was the guilt of making Cat cry?
• Ungrateful Bitch:
  • Even after all of the nice things Robbie's done for her, she still ditches him at Nozu in How Trina Got In after he breaks the dishes. Then again, most would likely react the same way given the circumstances.
  • Trina's an on-and-off case. Tori actually does appreciate that she got into Hollywood Arts because of Trina but that doesn't grant Trina a free pass to walk all over her sister.
• Unresolved Sexual Tension: With Danny in Cat's New Boyfriend. And it's clearly mutual.
• Victoria's Secret Compartment: Literally given her name. In The Birthweek Song, she keeps a USB in her bra.
• Victorious Loser: In Stage Fighting. Which is interesting considering her name and the name of the show.
• Vitriolic Best Buds: With Jade.
• With Friends Like These...: With Jade.
• Woman Scorned: She's fine if you just breakup with her. Cheating on her or just using her will end with you getting a Humiliation Conga.
  • And if you breakup with her, just leave it at that. Do not try to win the breakup.
• The Watson: She's constantly asking what this, that, and the other thing mean. At one point, she asks what an understudy is. This infuriates Jade.
• Yank the Dog's Chain: She gets the lead in Tori Gets Stuck, but we all know why she never gets to star in her debut. The Gorilla Club has her defeating the gorilla, only to be tackled off of the crate. She also passes her movie audition, but because of her "gorilla injuries", she doesn't get the part.

André Harris

Portrayed by: Leon Thomas III

• Affectionate Nickname: Calls Tori "Chica" and Cat "Little Red."
• Almost Kiss: Almost kisses Tori due to her posing as Jade in Jade Gets Crushed.
• Black Best Friend: To the whole group, but most prominently to Tori, Beck, and Robbie.
• Big Eater: Eats a pie meant for Tori's whole family in The Bad Roommate.
• The Cast Showoff: Almost rivalling the main character herself.
• Cloudcuckoolander: Has his moments from time to time.
• Cowardly Lion: He'll usually stand up to anyone but should they challenge his confidence, he folds like a house of soufflé cards. Fittingly enough, he was cast as the Trope Namer in April Fools' Blank.
• Deadpan Snarker: Not to Jade's extent, but he's the snarkiest of the guys.
• Decoy Protagonist: More like Decoy Deuteragonist. While he does get a lot of screentime, the person who gets the most Character Development, after Tori herself, is Robbie.
• Four-Temperament Ensemble: The Phlegmatic.
• Genre Savvy: Comes from his Only Sane Man position.
• Grumpy Bear: Over a bad grade, he takes his anger out on Robbie in A Christmas Tori by shoving him out of his chair and knocking him to the ground.
• Heterosexual Life Partners: With Beck. Allegedly.
• Hypocrite: Always counts on Tori to help him through his issues but only returns the favour about 25% of the time. Tellingly, he's the first to abandon her in Tori Goes Platinum and later runs off to see Jade rehearse, after making a pathetically half-hearted attempt to apologize to Tori.
• Identical Stranger: To Harper, a guest character in iCarly Saves TV.
• Jack of All Trades: Can sing, act, and is gifted on multiple instruments.
• Large Ham/No Indoor Voice: Notably whenever he gets upset/stressed out.
• Laser-Guided Karma: Stands by and lets Jade steal Tori's spot on Brain Squeezers (even complementing Jade's fake ID despite Tori choosing him to be on her team) and gets all his clothes shredded via the Doinks.
• My Name Is Not Durwood: In the first few episodes, Trina couldn't get his name right.
• Nice Guy: Except in A Christmas Tori.
• The Not Love Interest: To Tori.
• Only Friend: Maybe to Jade. She never outright says she considers him a friend, she just doesn't list his name when saying why the people she spends all her time around aren't her friends. For what it's worth, he doesn't seem to consider her a very good friend.
• Only Sane Man: Trades off with Tori and Beck at times.
• The Perfectionist: When it comes to his music.
• Pinocchio Nose: He's a really bad liar to the point that even discussing the issue with Tori causes him to have a small meltdown.
• Platonic Life Partners: With Tori.
• Recycled Premise/Status Quo Is God: Most of his B-plots involve (a) performing to get the attention of a very famous record producer, which he actually does (b) with Tori's help. Episodes later, he performs for another producer to the point he could have signed for multiple producers while in Hollywood Arts. What happened to these producers and André's music are never brought up anyway.
• Shipper on Deck: Might ship Beck/Tori based off of some Slap posts of his.
• Stunned Silence: His reaction in Freak The Freak Out when he hears Tara and Hayley sing. In this case, he is actually shocked by how bad they are compared to Cat and Jade.
  • Happened again in Jade Gets Crushed, this time as stunned amazement when he heard Jade sing. Though he never reacted to hearing her sing even once after that nor did he react the times prior.

Caterina "Cat" Valentine

Portrayed by: Ariana Grande

• Ambiguous Disorder: In Rex Dies, Jade tells Cat to go talk to a hospital receptionist. The receptionist promptly has Cat shipped off to the mental ward which, combined with her other behaviour, raises questions on whether she's just stupid or it's something deeper. And it's known that mental diseases do run in families.
  • Tori openly refers to her as bipolar in the pilot but Cat displays lots of other unusual behaviour not directly linked to this.
• Ambiguously Bi: Well in her case, it seems to be more that she doesn't know what sexual orientation is. While she's had a lot of boyfriends (and has a crush on Robbie), she seems very flirty around Tori and Trina.
• Attention Deficit Ooh Shiny: Girl loves her candy.
• Badass Adorable: In The Gorilla Club, where she completes the balls of pain with ease.
• Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Never gets a scratch in The Gorilla Club.
• Beneath Suspicion: Kisses Beck in A Film by Dale Squires and Jade notably doesn't freak out. Could have been because it was scripted however.
• Beware the Nice Ones: More so than Tori and Beck; she broke Tori's nose in one punch, had Hayley and Tara babysit a drugged-up, crazy Trina, and coldly points their severe lack of talent when they cheer about their rigged karaoke victory, even outright stating Hayley's father doesn't love her.

Hayley: We won, because we rock. Cat: Yeah, don't believe everything your daddy says.

• Breathless Non-Sequitur: Occasionally.
• Bunny Ears Lawyer: In a way. She's a little odd and excitable but her musical talent is extremely noticeable.

  • "What's that supposed to mean?" in an anguished voice and usually to a completely innocent statement by the other person.
  • "Yay, I love X!" in an excited voice when action or object is suggested/discussed.
  • "One time, my brother...", followed by a story about something crazy her brother did.
• Cassandra Truth: Cat tells Robbie she can't go to Prom with him because she has a date, who happens to be from another school. Robbie doesn't believe her, but it turns out he does indeed exist.
• Chekhov's Skill: Cat's costume class helps save the day in Beck Falls For Tori.
• Clingy Jealous Girl: She doesn't want other girls dating Robbie. Though she herself isn't quite sure about whether she wants Robbie.
• Cloudcuckoolander: To the point that Sikowitz outright tells her in the finale "Nobody ever knows what you're talking about."
• Cute Bruiser: Cat is undeniably cute, yet she managed to almost break Tori's nose in one punch.
• Cuteness Proximity: From Season 3 onward, no one can say "no" to her.
• Dyeing for Your Art: Confirmed by Word of God.
• Entitled to Have You: As shown in One Thousand Berry Balls and later on in Sam & Cat. Despite rejecting Robbie's advances constantly, she completely freaks out when he dates someone else and goes out of her way to make him jealous. If Robbie is paying attention to her, then she won't bat an eye.

• Flanderization: The biggest victim of being turned into The Ditz most of the time. There's even a joke saying that as her hair got redder, she got dumber.

• The Tease: Completely good natured, but Cat is known to flirt quite a bit with boys.

• Abhorrent Admirer: Towards Trina and later Cat in Stage Fighting. Subverted in Cat's New Boyfriend, when Trina seems to be warming up greatly towards him, and how it hints he and Cat may like each other.
• Adorkable
• The Alleged Car: That car Robbie got from his uncle.
• Acquired Situational Narcissism: During Robarazzi, he embarrasses his friends to gain internet fame, and says they're overreacting when they're upset. Luckily, this is the only instance of this from him, and his friends helped him see the error of his ways.
• Ambiguously Bi: He has commented that Beck looked "really good" in a tight pair of jeans in A Film by Dale Squires. See Rex Powers (his alter-ego) below for more examples.
• Because You Were Nice to Me: In Season 1, take pity on any girl that does something nice to him.
• Bring Me My Brown Pants: Was once searching for adult diapers, and considering he recently peed himself when Jade simply glared at him, one can assume he gets scared easily enough to need extra protection.
• Bunny Ears Lawyer: He's actually extremely talented in many different ways, despite being one of the most eccentric members of the cast and having Rex.
• Butt Monkey: The infamous Ice Cream Mother incident, Jade risks his life while he's in the hospital to get a spot in the play, gets beat up by Trina to help her stay in the school (which Trina never knows, so he is never given credit for helping), helps Tori with her exam and she beats him by one point for the school record, leaving him a crying heap as his picture is thrown out, and basically every episode sees him either injured, insulted, or otherwise shown in an unfairly negative light.
• Cannot Spit It Out: His crush on Cat. He eventually sung his feelings for her... and she didn't get it.
• Character Development: Steadily needs less of Rex as the series goes on. After Tori herself, he gets the most of it.
• The Chew Toy: Once spent a whole episode working on his car with Beck. Almost as soon as they're done, its promptly stolen, but not before a group of girls who come to flirt with Beck repeatedly spray him with a hose until he's begging for mercy. Bought a bike for $400, which was instantly destroyed less than ten seconds later by Helen hitting it with her car. Tori starts to defend him, then tells him to be more careful and runs away after she finds out the new principal hit it. Later in that same episode, Tori basically makes Robbie get beat up by Trina, while she ignores his saying he's always beaten and hates it. Cue laugh track.
  • To the point that Rex says falling for a blatantly obvious trap that would let him see Tori's (possibly fictitious) butt-mole is the only thing he has to live for.
• Disproportionate Retribution: A big victim of this. Robbie goes to a park (on his bike) to give away some ice cream that would have otherwise been thrown out. He willingly screams out "Free ice cream!" and all the moms chase him into an alley and beat him with sticks. Accidentally kills the Chancellor of Yerba's pet octopus, and it lands him, Trina, Cat, Jade, Beck, and André all in prison (Though possibly justified, as Festus later comments the octopus was like the Statue of Liberty to Yerba). He is also threatened bodily by Trina when he gives a review of her play that she doesn't like, and was once thrown out of a window by Andre's cousin Kendra for accidentally stepping on her toe.
• Expy: On some levels, you could view him as another Chase Matthews (a Nice Jewish Boy with unusually bushy and curly hair) when the series started. Only his Character Development went in completely the opposite direction.
• Extraverted Nerd: Sikowitz calls him "Urkel" in Locked Up (see above), a reference to Family Matters which had a well-known example of the trope, one Steve Urkel.
  • The first season even had him dressing similar to Urkel, with strange patterned and colorful cardigans.
• Flanderization: Somewhat in Season 2 and the beginning of season 3 on the subjects of him being cheap/selfish, having incredibly bad luck (especially with girls) and being a near Sinjin-level loser. Luckily, they pulled back and he's back to his geeky but sweet personality from Season 1, if not a little more characterized.
• Four-Temperament Ensemble: The Sanguine.
• Important Haircut: Whenever he wears his hair flat, his confidence goes up.
• Jewish and Nerdy: Also a Nice Jewish Boy.
• Helpless Good Side
• Heterosexual Life Partners: With Rex.
• He Really Can Act: In-universe, he's arguably the single most talented member of the main cast, skilled in every venue - but has one little issue that causes problems...
• Hidden Depths: Broken Glass.
• Insane Troll Logic: Refuses to pay for a cell phone plan but still owns a cell phone because he doesn't want to look like a weird loser. Tori's face says it all.
• Large Ham
• Laser-Guided Karma: Stands by and lets Jade steal Tori's spot on Brain Squeezers (even after Tori chose him to be on her team) and gets "pus-blasted", a black eye, and a limp via the Doinks.
• Moment Killer: Robbie does this to Tori's parents on their anniversary after getting kicked out of Sikowitz's house. If that wasn't bad enough, he then invites Cat and a guy she has just been on a date with over as well who invite Jade and André.
  • Indirectly the reason for Tori spraying Cat and Daniel with cheese at the Annual Throwback. He did tell Tori where the cheese fountain was. Whether or not he wanted that to happen or if it was a freak thing is up for debate...
• Nerd Glasses: The actor portraying him, Matt Bennett, sports an even nerdier pair in real life.
• Never My Fault: For all the implication that he wanted Tori to sabotage Cat and Daniel's relationship, he has the audacity to call her out on it.
• Nice Guy: He may be The Klutz and a Butt Monkey, but he's a genuinely nice guy, if very socially awkward.
• Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: He has also been known to make things worse on occasion (i.e. The Great Ping Pong Scam and Locked Up). Sikowitz even lampshades it in the latter's case: "Way to go, Urkel".
• No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Tries to give free ice cream to kids at the park instead of wasting it all, and all their mothers chase him into an alley and beat him up. In order to help Trina stay in Hollywood Arts, he has to get beat up by her and is nearly killed when Helen rips off a locker door, ready to bash his head in. Makes a portable battery from car batteries so Tori can use her phone. She later gets frustrated with it and electrocutes him with them (to be fair, he'd promised her the only danger was a mild electric shock which... wasn't true at all). He's the only one who rushes to see if Sikowitz is okay when he falls through his window, and by being concerned for his teacher's safety, breaks character and is sent away. He and Cat deliver some bad news to kids in song to keep them cheerful, and when they do it for Trina, she takes Robbie's guitar and smashes it (in fairness, telling a girl she's been stood up just as she's finished getting ready is a stupid move, when that girl is Trina Vega, it's worthy of a Darwin award). Trains Tori for her tech theater exam, and his school record is beaten by one point, leaving him broken. Gives a review on Trina's play, and is threatened bodily because Trina doesn't like the review.
• Noodle Incident: Met André's cousin once and accidentally stepped on her toe. She threw him out of a window.
• Real Men Wear Pink: While not exactly the manliest guy out there, you gotta give points to a kid his age who came shamelessly flaunt his male make up and $40 pedicures while not being all Camp about it.
• Running Gag:
  • Since the beginning of the show, characters have been known to confuse Robbie for a girl. It's notable however that whenever he's given the chance to prove he's male, he opts out.
  • Usually gets a unique one once an episode, such as his zipper falling down for no reason or being snubbed a compliment every time he asks for feedback on his part in a play.
• Stalker with a Crush: He apparently has made a routine out of hiding in the bushes at Tori's house and watching her.
• Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Sensitive Guy to Rex's Manly Man.
• Unprovoked Pervert Payback: Never seen on the show itself, but he mentions once that he was sprayed with mace when he simply asked a girl out on a date.
• Wardrobe Malfunction: His pants are always unzipped for some reason.
• With Friends Like These...: Everybody will usually give him this treatment, how harshly depends on the episode. They have very little patience with him for no good reason, (he's annoying but still a good friend and person) and don't seem to mind much when he's in pain, insulted, or upset. 
• Yank the Dog's Chain:
  • In The Hambone King, he came this close to being crowned "Hambone King" but cocked it up and Tori was crowed "Hambone Queen" (Tori wasn't his competition but she did defeat the self-titled Hambone King after Robbie had been defeated). 
  • In One Thousand Berry Balls, he finally got to spend time with Cat at a dance and even landed a kiss only for Cat to run off. 

Rex Powers

Voiced by: Jake Farrow

• Ambiguous Situation: It's unclear whether Robbie is controlling Rex or vice-versa.
• Ambiguously Bi: In Beggin' On Your Knees he says Ryder Daniels is hot, when everyone stares he merely replies "Stare all you want, I'm secure", which can be taken one of two ways, but even when a straight man compliments another man's looks he usually wouldn't use such a description. Then in iParty with Victorious after André yells at him, his response is to say he has beautiful skin as he (André) leaves.
• Breaking the Fourth Wall: Rex posts a worried question about the episode Rex Dies on The Slap.
  • Narrates in between commercial breaks during April Fools Blank.
• Casanova Wannabe: Yes, the puppet.
• Companion Cube: For Robbie. The others also treat Rex as if he were real, but it's implied in Rex Dies that they do so to humor Robbie.
• Deadpan Snarker
• Disproportionate Retribution: Rex sabotaged the harness which lead to Trina being injured. All because she punched him in the face. Considering what he said, Trina was unbelievably lenient on him.
• Evil Counterpart: For Robbie, verging on Evil Twin, but Robbie is the only member of the cast who sees him this way.
  • It's noteworthy that Rex seems to hate Cat, the girl Robbie has a crush on.

• The Friend Nobody Likes: He's not hated by the group, nor is he even disliked to Jade and Trina's level, but the others do find him weird.

• Kavorka Man: Closest you could get to on a kid's show... yeah... the puppet 'consorts' with a great number of Northridge girls and even has a hickey from their prom that he went to.
• Lemony Narrator: Briefly, in April Fool's Blank, Rex narrates at the first commercial break, telling the audience to come back..."or don't, I still get payed either way.'
• Mandatory Line: Ever since Blooptorious, he only appears once or twice in an episode and gets a line. In Car, Rain, and Fire he doesn't even appear.
• Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: There are several instances where Rex acts with quite a bit of autonomy and defies general logic suggesting he's real but quite a few other times indicate Robbie is just a really good ventriloquist with Rex being the mouthpiece for his darker aspects.
• N-Word Privileges: At the end of Who Did It To Trina, Rex says that it's only okay if he calls himself a puppet. And yet, in iParty with Victorious, he didn't take offense to Sam calling him one. In fact, when Robbie told her not to say that, Rex just responded "Nah, nah, it's cool."
  • He once mentioned on the Slap something along the lines of "rights for Puppet-Americans".
• Pet the Dog: This exchange with Tori about her waiting for the announcement of the announcement of a new phone.

Rex: You mean you're waiting for the announcement of the announcement? Tori: Yeah. Rex: Girl, you're better than that.

• Sensitive Ventriloquist and Manly Puppet: Watch any episode from seasons 1 or 2 and wait for Robbie and Rex to show up.
• Snarky Non-Human Sidekick
• Stalker with a Crush: Downplayed but he really harps on Tori's cheekbones and makes several comments that imply he's had dirty thoughts about her.
• What You Are in the Dark: Subverted in Beck's Big Break; while dreaming, Robbie sees Rex as a separate being and not as an extension of himself.

Jade West

Portrayed by: Liz Gillies

• 0% Approval Rating: Her parents, everyone else's parents, every gang member to some degree, the teachers, the student body, there's not one person who doesn't hate Jade to one degree or another. Even the iCarly trio seem put off by her. Beck's aunt even denied her nephew a trip to Cancun because she learnt he was planning to bring Jade.
• Alpha Bitch: Zig-zagged. Was definitely one in the earliest episodes yet her Odd Friendship with Cat disqualifies her from the technical definition of this. If the script calls for an Alpha Bitch however, expect Jade to step up and fill the role.
• Always Second Best: No matter what she tries, she will never be as good as Tori. In fact, her plan in Freak the Freak Out banks on Tori succeeding where she failed.
• Ambiguously Bi: In a (mostly) happy long-term relationship with Beck but seems to go out of her way to have Tori be impressed with her while inviting her touch. And then there's her favourite movie, The Scissoring. Some moments would suggest Jade is a lesbian or a bisexual who heavily prefers women but that she's very deep in the closet. In fact, the janitor's closet is her preferred hangout.
• Audio Erotica: André ended up developing a crush on her, after hearing her sing. Odd since he'd heard her sing before. Tori suspects it was just insomnia and fluctuating emotions (it was past midnight and the two were working on the lyrics to what was implied to be a love song) acting as a Love Potion.
• Anti-Hero: Type V.
• Beauty Is Bad: A very attractive girl and by far and away the cruelest character on the show.
• Berserk Button: She has a number of these, but topping the list would be flirting with and/or kissing her boyfriend.
• Betty and Veronica: As the established girl, she's Betty but her personality makes her more Veronica. She views this as a competition for Beck but Tori doesn't.
• Brainy Brunette: Zig-zagged. She's more clever (i.e: able to quickly think on her feet) than smart.
• Brief Accent Imitation: Whenever she thinks Tori said something stupid, she repeats it back with a Southern Belle accent.
• Brutal Honesty: She tends to tell the truth in situations where other people would sugarcoat it.
• Buxom Is Better
• Cat Fight: With Tori twice in The Wood. The second was staged though.
• Catchphrase:
  • "Ohhh" when Beck (or Tori) offends her.
  • "I'd rather slam my tongue into a car door."
• Clingy Jealous Girl: More than justified in-universe, as most new female characters (even Tori!) have made eyes at Beck (who doesn't actually seem to mind this), and lampshaded by Sikowitz in Freak The Freak Out. Even when they're broken up, she doesn't like him dating, or being around, other girls.
• The Corrupter: To Tori, particularly in Cat's New Boyfriend. It's notable she seems to approve more of Tori when the Latina is letting out her darker aspects.
• Create Your Own Villain: Jade knew full well that Tori was the new girl in the pilot and wouldn't know to avoid Beck at all costs yet still spilt coffee on her due to an innocent accident. Had Jade just restrained herself for once in her life, she wouldn't have had to watch Beck and Tori kiss. It's even implied that Beck only began crushing on Tori in Season 3 because Jade herself was so convinced that Beck had to be.
• Dark and Troubled Past: Her favourite childhood toy was a hammer. She leaves it to everyone else to fill in the blanks.
• Dark Chick: To an extent.
• Deadpan Snarker: She goes into Sarcasm Mode a lot.
• Defrosting Ice Queen: In several episodes, particularly Tori and Jade's Play Date.
• Depending on the Writer: See Heel Face Revolving Door.
• The Determinator: Not even suffering from a blistering burn on her palm could break her out of character in Sleepover at Sikowitz. Until she walked out the door.
• Didn't Think This Through:
  • Evidently, she never planned for her fake black eye to get wet.
  • Her "great ping pong scam" didn't take into account someone else finding out about the team or someone ordering a more expensive dish.
    • Her plan to keep Tori off the team. She says she'll let Tori on if she beats everyone else... but the team has never once picked up a paddle and it's a complete Curb Stomp Battle in Tori's favour. When Tori later sneaks in, Jade again doesn't consider the possibility that the others want Tori on the team.
  • Her plans for hot tub fun in iParty with Victorious completely fall apart... because Spencer and Sikowitz got to the hot tub first.
  • In Victori-Yes, she manages to use the gang's deal with Sikowitz to get Tori to play an embarrassing role. As said by her expression not ten seconds later, it never occurred to her that Tori could do the exact same thing.
• Disproportionate Retribution:
  • Jade went out of her way to keep Tori from playing the lead in Tori Gets Stuck. The biggest part of this was leafing through Tori's medical records and exploiting them to make her donate two pints of blood in one night (Jade purposely misplaced the first pint).
  • When Cat accidentally waxes off Jade's eyebrows, Jade shaves Cat's head.
  • Forces Cat to eat a whole bowl of bush peas on the basis that she's miserable and making Cat miserable reduces her own misery.
• Double Standard: If Tori, as a Naive Newcomer, understandably doesn't know something, Jade will throw a temper tantrum. If the other four don't know something they should know, Jade is very patient and understanding.
• Easily Forgiven: By Tori in Stage Fighting, which she lampshades. Tori tends to treat her this way in general really.
• Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: In Season 1, she was very thin with snow white skin contrasting her gothic ensemble. Downplayed later on due to gaining weight and having more colour in her skin.
• Entitled Bastard: Everyone must drop everything they're doing to help Jade but don't expect her to return the favour (or even offer thanks).
• Entitled to Have You: Even when they're broken up, Jade expects Beck to not even go near another girl if she's not present.
• Even Evil Has Standards:
  • The only person she won't harm is Cat. Well expect for that time Cat waxed off her eyebrows.
  • When the gang's retribution on Dale Squires goes pear shaped, even Jade feels bad.
  • She seems rather pleased that Ryder Daniels was exposed for using Tori and countless other girls.
• Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: "Well, you can't be nice to me when I've been mean to you! That's not how it works!"
• Evil Counterpart: At the start, she was Tori's. Rather than being humble about her talents and getting others to help her just by being nice to them, Jade was smug as hell and bullied everyone into doing things her way. Given Defrosting Ice Queen, this slowly went away over time.
  • All but stated in April Fools' Blank. Jade was cast as the Wicked Witch of the West while Tori was cast as Glinda, the Good Witch of the South.
• Evil Is Petty:
  • Stage Fighting has her fake a black eye to try and get Tori in trouble. What her actual endgame was is unknown but it says volumes about how petty she truly is.
  • In The Great Ping Pong Scam, she has the idea to form a fake ping pong team and use the funding ($1500) to go to a fancy restaurant. Let's rephrase that: She forces her friends to commit fraud (risking 10+ years in prison in the process) for a free meal.
  • Taken to extremes in Tori Gets Stuck where she seems to have no problem killing Tori and Robbie if it means she can get the lead in the play.
• Fascinating Eyebrow: Though nowhere near as frequently as Tori.
• Fat Bitch: Though downplayed, she gains weight every season going from rail thin to chubby. She's certainly not fat but is clearly wider across than Tori.
• Fetish Fuel Station Attendant
• Flanderization: Zig-zagged. She seems to get kinder (or at least calmer) every season but whenever she does do something cruel, it's much crueler than something she would have done in prior seasons.
• Four-Temperament Ensemble: The Melancholic.
• Freudian Excuse: Established in Wok Star, that her father because she doesn't get his respect for her career choice. It's also why she seems to try and push everyone away literally at every meeting. Do it to them before they do it to her - and why she went to Tori for help to get Beck back.
  • Her relationship with her father is shown to be even worse, as a video on The Slap revealed that in addition her father ignores her, rather spends his time with her stepmom and dog, and never kept one promise to her. And the one (and only) time he cooked her breakfast, she spent the whole morning throwing up.
• The Friend Nobody Likes: Mix of Type 1, Type 4, and Type 5: The rest of the group has known Jade for two years, she's dating Beck, and she's so known for viciously retaliating against people that it's unlikely anyone would make her leave even if those other two things weren't true. There may also be Type 8 and Type 9 buried in there somewhere. Best seen in Three Girls and a Moose where everyone is having the time of their lives listening to Cat and Tori's duet and Jade is notably absent.
  • Pushed further in The Worst Couple, the only person in the group she actually considers her friend is André. She didn't even say that she considered André a friend, she just didn't mention him when listing why she doesn't consider the people she hangs out with friends.
    • And considering how earlier André said that if they invite Beck to play cards, they'd have to 'deal with Jade', he doesn't find her a very good friend either.
  • In The Wood, Tori mentions that a janitor that the gang likes gave them some candy for Valentine's Day. Seconds later, Jade realizes she wasn't given any. Tori doesn't seem overly concerned with this.
  • It's practically a Running Gag that all of Beck's family hates her.
  • The pilot has everyone cheer her humiliation.
• Gag Boobs: "Jade can't fit her boobs inside the hamburger."
• Good Needs Evil: Inverted. Tori does not need Jade in the slightest but, as seen when it's being actively denied to her in Cat's New Boyfriend, Jade feeds on Tori's attention.
• Goth: Her appearance is gothic, but not so much her as a character.
• Green-Eyed Monster: Most definitely one towards Tori. Whether it's because of how liked Tori is, how talented she is, or just how skinny she is, is up to the audience to decide. If Tori is Superman, then Jade is Lex Luthor.
• Hates Being Touched: Reacts violently to being touched, not even letting Cat (her best friend) hug her. Except if it's Tori.
• Heel Face Revolving Door: She is definitely the character the writers are not sure whether she should pound Tori/Trina/Cat anytime or to be their Vitriolic Best Buds at best.
• Hidden Depths: If we're to take her fourth "What I Hate" video at face value, she still believes in Santa Claus, which is the last thing you'd expect from someone like Jade.
• Hypocrite:
  • She does everything in her power to cultivate an image of herself as scary and dangerous, but strongly objects if anyone expresses that sentiment to her face.
  • Though she says she wants friends she can count on (see I Just Want to Have Friends below), she refuses to treat Tori and the gang as her friends.
  • No matter how many times she claims to hate Tori, she always runs to Tori for a shoulder to cry on.
  • She prides herself on being a strong, independent, woman yet all but falls to pieces without Beck.
  • Utterly hates anyone who would try to censor her personality yet constantly shouts at everyone to shut up and act like mindless drones.
  • Constantly claims Tori doesn't belong at Hollywood Arts despite Jade herself never being seen to put any real effort into performing. In fact, she's indulged in every behaviour she's used as justification for why Tori doesn't belong at the school and seems the least eager to jump on an opportunity unless it means usurping Tori.
  • Jade can dish it out. But as Pilot and Prom Wrecker show, she can't take it.
  • She spent all of Survival of the Hottest telling Trina "No one likes you." When it's found that Trina was hoarding water, Jade is visibly hurt, acting like she fully expected Trina to share. Discounting all of that, never mind that Jade herself was extremely unlikely to share if she was the one with the water.
• Hypocritical Heartwarming: Never expressed out loud, but she does some things that imply that only she is allowed to mess with Tori, damn it! (For example: Celebrating when Tori gives Ryder Daniels his well-deserved Humiliation Conga, looking shocked and irritated when Robbie said Tori was "freaking out" in Robbarazzi, etc.)
• I Just Want to Have Friends: Implied. In one of her "Jade with Tots" videos, she bitterly asks her interviewee why she doesn't have any friends she can count on. (Odd perspective, considering the amount of effort Tori puts into trying to be friends with her.)
• I Reject Your Reality: Seems convinced that, no matter how many times that Beck and Tori show that they're not in love, they'll end up together.
• It's All About Me: Not as borderline narcissistic as Trina but she'll do any pathetic thing merely to satisfy her own insecurities up to and including the attempted murder of two people on account of being made an understudy. Pity any director who hires her in the future.
• Informed Ability:
  • In an almost reversal of Trina's situation, we're given to believe Jade is an expert scriptwriter yet her two plays shown are so cliche, unsubtle, and shallow that they border on Stylistic Suck and Who Writes This Crap?.
  • Likewise, it's often said that she's a Master Actor but she never shows any acting talent beyond anyone else's abilities. In fact, the one time she tried to trick Tori via acting, Tori saw through the ruse in a second and she's never once had a lead role throughout the series. It's implied she used to get all the leads before Tori showed up but that would still mean her acting is inferior to a novice. When a Broadway playwright is heaping praise onto Tori and Beck's performances, Jade isn't even glanced at. Robbie, whom the playwright found terrible, was at least acknowledged.
• Insane Troll Logic: Related to I Just Want to Have Friends, she's fully aware people like Tori better than her because Tori is nice, yet she consistently plays up her bitch factor whenever someone tries to get close to her.
• Irony: In spite of all her paranoia that Tori has a crush on Beck, Tori Goes Platinum implies the opposite was true the entire time.
• Jerkass: Oftentimes, highlights include Jade Dumps Beck, The Great Ping Pong Scam, Tori Gets Stuck, and Brain Squeezers.
• Jerkass Facade: Hinted at, but not confirmed one way or the other.
• Jerkass Has a Point: Subverted. On the surface, she has a point in complaining about Sikowitz's favouritism with regards to Tori and Tori getting all the lead roles but before Tori showed up, Jade was the recipient of such treatment and just wants to be spoiled again. Her problem isn't what Tori does so much as it is that Tori is being praised when Jade feels she should be the one that everyone's fawning over.
• Karma Houdini: Often.
  • Justified in Stage Fighting, when Tori goes out of her way not to punish Jade.
• Kawaiiko: In iParty With Victorious, as the blue swimsuit she wears seems cute, modest, and quite out of character for her. Perhaps she's not as hard-boiled as she lets on...?
• Knife Nut: Her scissors obsession.
• Laser-Guided Karma: Several times, with Prom Wrecker being the best example.
  • In Pilot, Jade spills coffee on Tori due to an innocent accident. Tori then publicly kisses Beck right in front of her. In fact, the class as a whole applauds this.
  • In The Great Ping Pong Scam, she goes out of her way to prevent Tori from finding out about the team and then "forgets" to tell Tori to bring a nice dress for the dinner. She then has to give up her dress to Tori so that the gang doesn't get arrested due to her poorly thought through scheme.
  • In Cat's New Boyfriend, she's The Corrupter to Tori and later invokes Never My Fault while trying to ruin Cat and Tori's friendship. She ends up hospitalized for being dumb enough to listen to Trina.
  • In Tori Gets Stuck, she engages in horrifying behaviour to undermine Tori and get the lead in the play. Just when it looks like all her hard work paid off, Sikowitz decides she was being such a bitch that he kicks her out.
  • In Prom Wrecker, she hires Doug the Diaper Guy to sabotage the prom. Tori casually rigs the voting for Prom King and Queen so that Jade gets stuck with him.
  • In The Bad Roommate, she forces everyone to help her take a better picture on PearMaps (without ever thanking them for their efforts) and the new picture makes it look like she's passionately making out with Robbie.
  • In Brain Squeezers, she literally commits identity theft to steal Tori's spot on the eponymous show. Not only does her team lose to Tori's, Jade herself loses several teeth and gets "doinked" on the head by a car battery.
  • In Victori-Yes, she uses the gang's "Say Yes to Everything" bet to extort $20 for Tori. Tori then uses the same bet to have Jade pop Trina's shoulder pimple. Later on, she uses the bet to have Tori join Trina in dressing up as a giant piece of cheese. And Tori forces Jade to share the same fate not ten seconds later.
• Let Us Never Speak of This Again: Jade's sweating at the end of Survival of the Hottest.
• Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: The dark to Tori's light. (One of two).
• Make Up or Break Up: This tends to be Jade and Beck's relationship in a nutshell, as Jade dumps him over a small argument in Jade Dumps Beck. They do make up in the end. They break up for longer in The Worst Couple but eventually get back together.
• Meaningful Name: She's very cynical and jaded, and is as mean as The Wicked Witch of the West. (Also, the skin of The Wicked Witch of The West is green, jade happens to be a shade of green.)
• Menstrual Menace: Sorta. Jade gets through "that time of the month" by talking about stuff she hates.
• Misplaced Retribution: If anyone is to blame for Jade's anger in Tori Gets Stuck or Prom Wrecker, it's Sikowitz but Jade focuses on Tori. Could be that Jade is unwilling to harass a teacher.
• Moral Myopia: For the truly horrible things she's done (up to and including attempted murder), she loses it when Tori books her Prome when Jade wanted to have her play. In the pilot, she has the gall to act like Tori was unjustified in kissing Beck.
• Nice, Mean and In-Between: The Mean to Cat's Nice and Tori's In-Between.
• Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Though Jade comes off as hardcore and a sadistic maniac, it's frequently shown there are others much worse than her. It's noteworthy that whenever Tori decides to fight back against Jade, Jade loses very quickly.
• Nightmare Fetishist: "I like to pretend I've been kidnapped by witches and they're using me to make human soup."
• Nerves of Steel: Doesn't flinch easily despite real danger, and can sleep through a war.
• Never My Fault:
  • For all her anger at Tori butting in with Cat and Daniel's relationship in Cat's New Boyfriend, she conveniently seems to forget that she deliberately pushed Tori into anger and jealousy.
  • Told Tori to lie on her resume in Beck Falls for Tori and then says Tori shouldn't have done that.
  • Asked Cat to wax her eyebrows and acts like Cat broke into her home and mutilated her when she accidentally waxed them off. Frankly, if she was dumb enough to let Cat near her face, she deserved it.
  • On the whole, she's outraged that people she's known for years like Tori better than her. Tori treats said people like human beings while Jade treats them as lower than dirt.
• Noble Demon
• Not So Different: To the Vega sisters, though it seems a case of Too Much Alike.
  • From Tori. If Jade wasn't so hideously insecure about Tori upstaging her, the two would likely be the best of friends. They also seem to get along much better when no one else is around.
  • From Trina. Jade may not be a Spoiled Brat but she's just as entitled, arrogant, and self-absorbed as Trina. That and they've both got large womanly assets.
• Not Worth Killing: This actually seems to be how Tori views her. Whenever Tori decides to fight back, Jade loses in seconds.
• Odd Couple: Her and Tori, in the rare instances where they get along.
• Odd Friendship: Her and Cat.
• Out of Focus: While still a main character, Season 2 focused on her and Beck's relationship much less than Season 1, only giving her real focus when the plot called for an antagonist nearly turning her into The Artifact. It wasn't until Season 3's The Worst Couple that she got an episode centered around her. And once she and Beck got back together, she only got one subplot dedicated to her before the show ended. Justified since Tori's arc in Season 1 was whether or not she belonged at Hollywood Arts, and Jade was the one telling her she didn't. Since Tori no longer doubted herself, Jade's words became white noise.
• Paper Tiger: Jade can come across as hardcore (smashing André's apple in Tori Gets Stuck, kicking in Beck's door in Wi-Fi In The Sky, slicing up the garbage can in Wok Star), but when real danger seems afoot (most prominently in Locked Up!), Jade either bluffs or bolts. A talker, but not much of a fighter. She may have manhandled Tori in The Wood but that seems more due to the fact that Tori wasn't fighting back as Jade has been shown to be a rather crap fighter.
  • On her Slap Profile, if someone gets her angry, she won't fight them, but will retaliate in a way that will make them sad for a really long time (ex: destroy their peers socially).
• Pet the Dog: Sometimes. She shows a bit of compassion for Tori when she has a breakdown in Ice Cream for Ke$ha and she's greatly concerned for Cat when she's worried that her mom's boss will find out about the damage to his things in André's Horrible Girl. She was even holding Robbie back from hurting himself to save Rex in Rex Dies and was holding Rex's hand in the hospital. She also seems to have a soft spot for Sikowitz and Cat. She does this in a major way in Tori Goes Platinum, by giving up her shot at a major performance that could make her famous so that Tori could perform instead.
• Phrase Catcher: "Gank."
• Progressively Prettier: Becomes prettier each season.
• "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Gives a completely uncalled one to the group in The Worst Couple. Little wonder none of them wanted to invite her to their poker game or check on her after the breakup.
• The Rival: To Tori. It's a largely self-elected position.
• Seven Deadly Sins:
  • Pride. Is a Narcissist second only to Trina and regards herself as the greatest actress who ever lived.
  • Greed. Wants every role and will murder someone for the spotlight.
  • Lust. Is a Clingy Jealous Girl with regards to Beck.
  • Envy. Her defining character trait is being a Green-Eyed Monster towards Tori.
  • Gluttony. The fattest of the main characters (but not fat), the only one to gain weight over the course of the show, and near constantly drinks coffee.
  • Wrath. Is preemptively angry towards everything.
  • Sloth. Despite her Pride, it's rare for her to solve her own problems, usually shoving them onto Tori.
• She's Got Legs: Not as noticeable as Tori or Cat but she can show them off when she wants to.
• Shipper on Deck: In a truly twisted sense of the word, she seems the biggest supporter of Beck/Tori, being certain, often in the face of hard facts, that Beck and Tori are madly in love.
• Smug Snake: Jade talks big and does have talent, but is clearly nowhere near the level that she thinks she's at.
• The Snack Is More Interesting: When the gang is about to be arrested in The Great Ping Pong Scam, she's stuffing her face with a fruit salad.
• So Proud of You: A non-parental version to Tori in Tori Goes Platinum as expressed through her proud smile. Until the next episode though.
• Stalker with/out a Crush: Jade is... fixated on Tori. The extent varies so much that it's doubtful Jade herself even knows why she does it.
• Static Character: Even taking Negative Continuity and Flanderization into account, Jade never changes.
• Stupid Evil: In Tori Gets Stuck given all the insane lengths she goes to just for a no-name high-school play. If she hadn't been such a bitch that no one wanted to see her get any satisfaction, Tori would have very likely let her have the lead role once she'd donated the first pint of blood.
• Tantrum Throwing: In Tori Gets Stuck.
• Token Evil Teammate: And damn proud of it. Though she'll be offended if you say this about her.
• Took a Level In Jerkass: Had some decent depth in Season 1 but quickly devolved into a spiteful Jerkass/Manipulative Bastard who would go so far as to murder Tori and Robbie for the lead role in a play.
• Took a Level In Kindness: Well, not really. She's still a Jerkass, but doesn't seem to be as bitchy as she was in earlier seasons.

  • Wants to let Rex die in Rex Dies because she thinks it'll force Robbie to be normal.
  • Pushes Tori off the balcony in Beck Falls for Tori as a way to help her conquer her fears.
• Ungrateful Bitch: "Thank you" is not in her vocabulary.
  • When Tori helps her make up with Beck in Jade Dumps Beck and Tori Fixes Beck and Jade.
  • When Tori saves her life in Locked Up.
  • Everyone goes out of their way to help her in The Worst Roommate and she acts like an Entitled Bitch the entire time.
  • Just on the whole, it seems her life would fall apart without Tori and the others but she remains a Static Character no matter what and treats everyone like garbage. Tori Goes Platinum is literally the one time she expressed any form of gratitude.
• Unknown Rival: In a sense. Tori knows who Jade is but is nowhere near as fixated and obsessed about her as Jade is about Tori. Only twice (Pilot and Prom Wrecker) has Tori actually found Jade to be worth fighting back against. Jade is visibly displeased that Tori spends the second half of Cat's New Boyfriend ignoring her.

  • On her bad days, she can act this way to Cat.
  • Come Tori Goes Platinum, she and Tori seemingly graduated to this. Best seen in Victori-Yes.

• Almost Kiss: On Tori, but she refuses because she doesn't want to hurt Jade's feelings.
• Amazon Chaser: Whenever Tori and Trina show off their Super Strength, Beck has a rather aroused and eager expression.
• Auto Erotica: He tried for this, but Jade wasn't in the mood. Probably for the best, seeing how there was a guy with a camera in the backseat.
• Base on Wheels: His trailer, The Silver Streak.
• Beneath Suspicion: Tori Goes Platinum implies that, in spite of Jade's longstanding paranoia, that Tori never had a crush on Beck but that he had a crush on Tori, something that never seemed to ever occur to Jade as a possibility.
• Beware the Nice Ones:
  • He's not very pretty when pissed off, as seen in Tori Tortures Teacher, when Tori and André intervene in the text-fight between him and Jade. It was kinda out of his character, though.
  • He's also not very nice when he's sleep deprived and running on caffeine.
  • The Worst Couple has Jade saying she'd rather slam her tongue into a car door. Beck reminds her of the fact that he has a car. Jade, of course, is offended.
• Character Development: He was pretty generic when the show started, but became more fleshed out in Robarazzi.

• Covert Pervert: When playing a character that has No Sense of Personal Space, he spends a disproportionate amount of time around Tori. The fact that this is nominally a kids's show is probably the only thing that stopped him from outright groping her (not that she seemed to mind though). In a lot of scenes, his eyes seem to drop down to Tori's butt.
  • It's also been noted that, in spite of having a girlfriend, he never thinks that this fact is worth mentioning to all the girls who flirt with him.
• Deadpan Snarker: He does have his moments.
• Even the Guys Want Him: At least when he's in drag.
• Flat Character
• Flanderization: Believe it or not, he had some independence in Season 1 and the first half of Season 2. Following Locked Up! however, he became a full-on Satellite Character to Jade (and briefly became Tori's in mid to late Season 3) and all his plots were dedicated to whether or not he was in relationship. Following Tori Fixes Beck and Jade, he went right back to being a Satellite Character.
• Four-Temperament Ensemble: The Melancholic.
• The Generic Guy: 99% of the time, he doesn't seem to have a definable personality.
• Grease Monkey: Helps Robbie fix up a broken down car in A Film by Dale Squires.
• Half-Identifying Hybrid: Half-Indian/Half-Canadian but since he's not a Bollywood Nerd, everyone just calls him Canadian.
• Heterosexual Life Partners: With André.
• Implied Love Interest: Even though Tori kissed him, it's not really gone beyond an implication that they might like each other. Especially since he's already with Jade.
  • That said, he and Tori have been cast as couple more than a few times and see Covert Pervert above. They also seem very close on Tori's Slap videos almost bordering on Like an Old Married Couple. He's also oddly confident when discussing Tori's butt-mole and Nick.com seems to regard Bori as the Official Couple of the show. There is a heavy implication throughout the series however that he does have a crush on Tori.
• Informed Ability: Like his girlfriend, being a great actor. He's so stoic and emotionless that any on-screen emotions come off as very wooden.
• Informed Attribute:
  • Being unscareable. He certainly has a grasp on his fear, but is shown to be scared several times.
  • You wouldn't guess that he's André's best friend from their shared screentime.
• It Amused Me: In a way, Beck seems to greatly amused by Jade’s possessiveness and jealousy and sometimes goes as far as to induce it a bit in a slight trolling way.
• Laser-Guided Karma: Stands by and lets Jade steal Tori's spot on Brain Squeezers (even after Tori chose him to be on her team) and takes a bowling ball to the ribs, loses all his clothes, and becomes heavily bruised via the Doinks.
• Make Up or Break Up: This tends to be Jade and Beck's relationship in a nutshell, as Jade dumps him over a small argument in Jade Dumps Beck. They do make up in the end. They break up for longer in The Worst Couple but later get back together.
• Morality Chain: Seems to be this to Jade, as he often tries to stop her from doing more awful things and when he went to Canada for a few episodes she got a good bit worse in the meantime, only returning to normal when he came back.
  • Poisonous Friend: Then again, most of the time, he only offers some weak-willed words to try and deter whatever cartoon evil Jade is cooking up and enables a large chunk of her worst behaviour. A good example exists in The Wood where he doesn't call Jade out for snooping around in Tori's room or pushing Tori off the sofa. To reiterate, they're in Tori's house!
• Nerves of Steel
• Nice Guy: More interesting than usual, but he still fits. Best shown in Tori Goes Platinum.
  • Earlier on, in Beck's Big Break, he genuinely has no ill will to Tori for getting him fired from the movie (though he's still thrilled when she gets him the job back).
• Only Sane Man: Although the fact that André is there kinda destroys the purpose of the trope.
• Satellite Character: To Jade, and Tori to a lesser extent, usually functioning as the median for the girls. He's also the only one to not have any episode focused on him in a major way while even Robbie and Trina got at least three. Beck's Big Break is also a notably Tori-centric episode.
  • Most prominent in Tori Goes Platinum where most of his role is "the guy standing next to Tori".
• "Shut Up" Kiss: At the end of Jade Dumps Beck when Jade is saying sorry.
• Snap Back: In Jade Dumps Beck, he tells Tori he's happier than he's ever been in the past two years since breaking up with Jade. Come the episode's end and he's apparently never stopped loving her. There can't be more than a day's gap between the statements.
• Spear Counterpart: There are some hints here and there that he might be Tori's. Certainly he seems more comfortable talking about issues to her than he does Jade. It's very telling that he's the one who recognizes that Tori's Jerkass behaviour in Tori Goes Platinum is just an act instead of André and/or Trina.
• The Stoic: "He's unscareable".
• Straight Man: Usually to Jade, though he had played it to other characters as well.
  • Except for that little quirk about not drinking bottled water from mountain streams because fish urinate in it.
• Stunned Silence: His reaction in Freak The Freak Out when he hears Tara and Hayley sing. In this case, he is actually shocked by how bad they are compared to Cat and Jade.
• Unwanted Harem: Inverted. He has no problems with random girls popping up at his doorstep and asking for rides to school.
• What Does He See in Her?: Whenever Jade has some of her weirder and out there moments, Tori, André, and Robbie will usually turn to Beck with this question all over their faces. It's eventually revealed he likes a woman who will challenge him but he could still find a less psychotic one very easily.

Trina Vega

• 0% Approval Rating: And how.
• Action Girl: This seems to be what Trina actually does best, as she appears to make up in physical strength, agility and fighting skill, even when drugged up to the gills (Freak The Freak Out), what she lacks in singing ability.
  • Her uniform, which was blue with a yellow belt, is actually a Vovinam Gi, not a Karate Gi. Also, unlike Karate, a yellow belt is the equivalent of a black belt; Trina Vega of all people is a highly skilled martial artist.
  • According to Freak The Freak Out and André's Horrible Girl, she knows some stealth techniques as well. In The Breakfast Club she manages to sneak in and out of the school with no one noticing.
• Attention Whore: There's nothing she won't do for even a second in the spotlight.
• Aw, Look -- They Really Do Love Each Other: With Tori, the most significant moment being the end of Helen Back Again.
• Baby Got Back: The camera does seem to linger on her rear for a bit longer than necessary.
• Be Careful What You Wish For: In Survival of the Hottest, she always wished that she was hotter.
• Big Sister Instinct: She did not take it well when Tori was locked up in prison.
  • She's also shown it at other times to, such as warning Tori about Ryder. She does seem to genuinely care about Tori when someone else is the one hurting her.
• Bratty Teenage Daughter: To the point her parents are quick to abandon her and Tori after Trina gets her wisdom teeth removed.

• Characterization Marches On: Can go from nice and sweet to bratty and vice-versa; sometimes during the same episode.
• Combat Stilettos: Though this is what she wears most of the time, she never wore them in combat, as in Helen Back Again, she's shown wearing sneakers for the first time upon attacking Robbie. However, concerning her heels, Cat states that Trina can walk in them very gracefully despite the fact that they're too tall.
• Cool Big Sis: Though only on good days. However, it's clear that she genuinely loves her sister.
• Dance Battler: Played with: she's a skilled dancer and martial artist, but both of these skills were performed separately in different episodes, and had never been incorporated together.
• Does Not Understand Sarcasm: In Locked Up!
• Drives Like Crazy: Even does yoga and shaves while driving. Oh, and speeds.
• Flanderization: Originally, Trina was just a bit overconfident with the implication that if she practiced more and accepted her limits, she could shine. Now she's completely untalented yet seems to think she's God's gift to the Earth.
  • Ironically, the entire reason Tori got into Hollywood Arts is because Trina took an herb to help her sing better. Something she would never even consider needing later on.
• Four-Temperament Ensemble: The Choleric.
• The Friend Nobody Likes: Stated outright by Jade in Stuck in an RV and again in Terror on Cupcake Street. Mostly Type 2 whenever she tags along with Tori's group. If anything, she seems to be the group's Newman.
  • Later on in the series, they seem to tolerate her though Jade memorably says in The Worst Couple "No one likes Trina" and no one, not even Tori, is in a huge rush to challenge that statement. All that said, she seems to be preferred over Jade and Rex if only because she generally doesn't seem to mean the cruel things she says.
• Good Bad Girl: Trina had no problem stealing Tori's date in Freak the Freak Out and in The Worst Couple, she was ready to take Beck the very minute he said he didn't want to be Jade's boyfriend if they were just going to keep fighting. She even tackled him in an attempt to prevent him from going to the door and after Jade leaves and Beck sits down, the final shot in the house is of Trina resting her head on Beck's shoulder.
• Good Is Not Nice: She truly is a well-intentioned person, but is too obnoxious, selfish, and irritating for that to even be acknowledged.
• Half-Identifying Hybrid: For the same reasons as Tori.
• Handicapped Badass: Even when drugged up to the gills (Freak The Freak Out), she's still capable of fighting.
• Hidden Depths: As said under Action Girl, she's skilled in martial arts.
• Hollywood Tone Deaf: To drive the point home, she does most of the back-up vocals for Tori's songs. According to Tori on The Slap, Trina can actually sing.
  • It's been implied that the problem isn't so much she can't sing, but that she believes she's so talented, she doesn't need to practice doing it.
• Hypocritical Heartwarming: She's done some mean things to Tori herself, but on several occasions, most notably with Ryder and when Tori is arrested, she's shown to genuinely care about Tori when someone else is being mean to her.
• Hypocritical Humor: "You have to be more careful with people's feelings." (Before turning and yelling at the annoying kid behind her for kicking her seat.)

• Informed Flaw: Trina's bad singing is Hollywood Tone Deaf at worst. Other than too much scooping and being flat at times. Trina could sing well if she would just accept that she's not perfect and maybe some lessons would do her some good. And Trina's audition with the submarine scene was pretty good, but it was implied she didn't get the role because of her bad acting, while all she did was say one word wrong.
  • She stage kissed well enough to make Robbie believe that she actually liked him.
  • She's also a skilled dancer and martial artist. Really her problem seems to be that singing is the one thing she's not great at yet that's what she's sticking with.
• In the Back: Has taken out two characters from behind through the show (Hayley in Freak The Freak Out, when Trina appears from behind the couch and grabs her from behind before taking her to the floor. The second time (André's Horrible Girl) was when she sneaked into Hope's party by knocking out a hostess and stealing her uniform via wrapping her arms around her neck and simply dropped her body.
• It's All About Me: She gives herself a birthweek instead of a birthday.
• Jerkass: At her worst.
• Kick Chick: Subverted. She is seen using kicks more than punches whenever she's shown fighting, but she does use her fists.
• Lethal Chef: Not that anyone has eaten her cooking, but she didn't know how to cook a turkey and decided to shove it into the microwave. Justified, seeing her father didn't want to help her.

In Freak The Freak Out, her parents went to Santa Barbara for the sole purpose of avoiding her and Jade has stated quite plainly that nobody likes Trina.

• She's Got Legs: The most prominent out of all the girls.

• Spicy Latina: Much more prominent compared to Tori.
• Spoiled Brat: It's not clear how wealthy the Vegas are, but Trina has mountains of cash to burn through.

• What Could Have Been: In the early drafts of the series, Trina was a Big Sister Bully to Tori before her backstory and personality were swapped with Jade's.
• Yank the Dog's Chain: Helen Back Again was her second day in the spotlight and Crowning Moment of Awesome other than Freak The Freak Out, until the episode after has her in the hospital because her harness was slashed during a play. • Black Best Friend: His equally weird friend, Burf.
• Bunny Ears Lawyer: Apparently, 'he gives great crew' - he can operate lights/sound boards, and build props that are realistic enough to fool people (as he did for Tori in The Great Ping Pong Scam). In iParty With Victorious, he also proves to be extremely good at a surfing simulator (until it malfunctioned and threw him out the window).
• Butt Monkey
• Casanova Wannabe
• Fake Guest Star: Has been absent for about only five or six episodes, not much more than Beck or Trina, yet is still considered a guest star. Then again, he doesn't really do much most times that he appears.
• It Runs in The Family: Has a younger sister who is just as strange as him.
• No Sense of Personal Space: Falls into this territory rather commonly.
• Real Men Wear Pink: Actually has worn pink a few times. He is a bit Ambiguously Bi though ...
• Stalker with a Crush: To Jade. He was in her house in Wi-Fi in the Sky.

• Brutal Honesty: Telling Jade "too bad" when she says she doesn't want to be Tori's Secret Santa in A Christmas Tori. Earlier in the same episode, he even called Sinjin's sister a little weirdo right in his presence and outright told him his parents "should've stopped with him".
  • In Freak The Freak Out, when he tells Jade that she's lucky to have Beck as a boyfriend, and also slams Robbie for his lack of weekend plans.
  • Played with in one episode, where he uses brutal honesty (disparaging Tori's singing and her chances of becoming a professional singer; however, he just says that to kit for reactions from the students) to demonstrate how playing against expectations in a way to draw the audience into an actor's performance.
• Bunny Ears Lawyer: Despite seeming rather insane, he's actually a great acting teacher. Most of the time. Other times, he really is just as dangerous and insane as he seems.
• Catch Phrase: "Dear/Good Gandhi!"
• Cloudcuckoolander: Very out there, but surprisingly skilled as a teacher.

He's not just the only teacher that the kids feel they can trust (as stated outright in The Great Ping Pong Scam), but it's been shown that he has many famous and influential connections in the entertainment industry. Sikowitz has a very good idea of what the kids would be best for in the real world, his crazy teaching methods are in fact preparing them for that world, and they trust him enough to go along with what he does. His MENTAL sanity, however...
• Secret Test of Character: Is prone to using these in his class, in fact, anyone who wants to be in a play has to do the Bird Scene, which they'll only pass if they realize the hidden meaning of it.
• Shipper on Deck: He seems to be this for Jade and Tori, always pairing them together whenever he can. In A Christmas Tori, he makes Jade act as Tori's 'Secret Santa', and in Tori and Jade's Play Date he deliberately has them play a couple and makes them go out on a date.

• Beware the Nice Ones: As seen in The Wood and iParty With Victorious, though the latter may seem to be reasonable seeing that his anger was triggered by Trina's blatant irresponsibility. The Wood, had him really go berserk on the TV crew.
• The Danza: Played by Lane Napper.
• Meaningful Name / Stealth Pun: You could say that Lane guides the students down the right roads since he is the guidance counselor.
• Nice Guy: Most of the time.
• Only Sane Man: He's one of the saner teachers on Hollywood Arts.
  • Until Jade Gets Crushed, with that sour cream and onion scented/flavored body lotion.
• Satellite Character: Normally to Tori and Robbie.

Helen Dubois

• Catch Phrase: "That is not my job!"
  • Former Child Star: Said phrase actually made her famous.
• Charles Atlas Superpower: Tore the door off of someone's locker with ease in assisting Trina in beating up Robbie who was posing as a mugger.
• Everyone Has Standards: Despite being a Sassy Black Woman, Jade's audition horrifies her.
• Hey, It's That Gal: Guess what show she's from?
• Pointy-Haired Boss: Brutally subverted; Helen immediately proves her talent and great competence to Jade who questions her whether she knew about it about it all. However, having everyone re-audition did seem to be kind of a dick move.

Vice Principal Dickers

• Disproportionate Retribution: Gives Tori another week of detention because of Jade's snarky comment directed towards her, although it was more to do with the comment itself pissing him off.
• For the Evulz: Seems to delight in making detentions as un-stimulating as possible.

• Jerkass: He's just a complete douchebag.
• Meaningful Name: Dickers.
• One-Shot Character
• Pointy Haired Vice Principal: He's not very bright to be an administrator.
• Too Dumb To Have Authority: He confiscates the kids' cellphones, only to put them in a box on a shelf where they could just walk over and retrieve them. Sure, Tori only uses it to call Trina to bring tacos, but still...
• Would Hit a Girl: He didn't exactly hit Tori, but he did drag her into the janitor's closet and threatened her.

Parents and Guardians

David And Holly Vega

• Abusive Parents: Not physically, but when Trina gets her wisdom teeth out and is in immense pain, they suddenly have a vacation they need to go on and leave Tori to deal with it.
  • Good Parents: Besides their less than warm treatment of Trina, David and Holly seem to be the only parental figures on this show that are respectable adults, treat their kids well, and are still a family that loves each other.
    • Pet the Dog: The Birthweek Song was probably the only moment in which they are seen being nice to Trina.
    • It actually seems to be more of a case of Flanderization. The pilot episode and The Birthweek Song showed them being kind to and caring about Trina. As the show went on, they began to have little care for her. Come Driving Tori Crazy, Holly is shown being rather indifferent to Tori. It seems the show is trying to have them slowly slip into being uncaring parents.
• Hot Mom and Dad: Arguably, but Holly is actually very gorgeous.
• Parental Neglect: Have been doing this throughout the show, but Holly is shown neglecting her children the most, making breakfast only for herself in Driving Tori Crazy.
• Your Cheating Heart: It's implied in Season 4 that Holly is having an affair, or at least flirting, with her husband's partner, Gary.

Charlotte Harris

• Catch Phrase: "I DON'T KNOW YOU!"
• Cloudcuckoolander: More so than Cat.
• Everything Trying to Kill You: Destroyed André's webcam in a single punch in Wi-Fi In The Sky.
• Go Mad From the Revelation: Though it's unknown what exactly made her go insane.
  • The Conspiracy: Charlotte believes that the post office is "run by aliens trying to enter your home and steal your ketchup." What.
  • They Look Just Like Everyone Else: Convinced that her 7-year old neighbor is plotting to kill her because he was holding a plastic knife.
• Hidden Depths: Is a fan of Kenan Thompson and follows Rex online.
• Hysterical Woman: And HOW.
• I Thought You Meant: From Tori's perspective: Charlotte asks her to stick her hands out so she could hold her oatmeal. Tori puts out her hands, only to have oatmeal poured over them because Charlotte didn't want her to touch her mug.
• Satellite Character: To André.
• Supreme Chef: André stated that "she makes a mean french toast."

Mr. West

• Ice King: Tori described him as "cold and judgmental."
  • Defrosting Ice King: Actually admits that Jade's play was excellent.
• Jerk Dad Artistic Daughter: Hates everything concerning creative activities and believes that anyone who performs them are stupid.
• Pet the Dog: Got Jade and Tori a junk car that they could wreck in The Wood.
• Resentful Guardian: According to Jade, he practically hates her and disapproves of her tattoos and piercings. He does seem to approve of Tori however.
• Sugar and Ice Personality: Very aloof and cold towards his own daughter and would rather spend time with his new wife and her dog.
• The Stoic: Not hard to see where Jade gets it from.
• Why Do You Keep Changing Jobs?: In Jade's second "What I Hate" video, she says that she hates people who say, "Have a nice day", before something else along the lines that implies her father can't keep a job:

Other Characters

Hayley Ferguson and Tara Ganz

• Alpha Bitch: Hayley seems to have this trope down perfectly.
• Blonde and Brunette: Tara, blonde. Hayley, brunette.
• Curb Stomp Battle: On the receiving end and brutally stomped upon by Cat and Jade during the karaoke contest.
  • Daddy's Girl: Yet they both stood victorious in the end because Hayley's father was the owner of the club. Cat flat out implies that Hayley's father doesn't love her. It took another curb-stomping from Tori to have her father reconsider that decision.
• Eviler Than Thou: Averted. Tori asks if they were "Jade-level mean" and Cat's response is "No not that mean, but really mean."
• Hollywood Tone Deaf: Their singing is so awful it actually makes Trina's sound bearable. That, and it sends Beck and André into stunned silence.
• Hot Girls Are Bitches
• Jerkasses: Oh, yeah.
• One Shot Characters
• Spoiled Brat: Hayley.
• Those Two Gals
• The Vamp: Both girls had no qualms with flirting with a taken man (Beck) and André until they found out they went to Hollywood Arts.

Ryder Daniels

• Brilliant but Lazy: It's implied throughout the episode that he could actually do a decent job on his own but since he's not quite up to Tori's level, he's just riding her coattails. Heck if he put half as much effort into manipulating Tori as he did into performing, he'd do fine.
• Even Evil Has Standards: Looked shocked that Cat's ditziness might have actually gotten a man killed.
• Foreshadowing: Upon being told that the class can do duets for the Full Moon Jam, he looks right at Tori.
• Hot Guys Are Bastards
• Jerkass: Practically told his friend that once he's done with Tori, he could have her.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He basically toyed with Tori's emotions just for a thrill and a decent grade.
    • A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing: The fact that he's did this to several girls before Tori came in the picture upgrades him to this. Trina even warned Tori about him from the beginning!
• Kick the Son of a Bitch: Every girl he's screwed over accompanies Tori during their performance, humiliating him in front of the entire student body.
• Meaningful Name: He's a free-rider. Someone who does no work and lets the other group members carry the project.
• Moral Myopia: For all his horrible deeds and manipulative tendencies, he has the gall to be offended that Tori looked through his phone.
• One-Shot Character
• Shadow Archetype: Essentially a worse, gender-flipped, version of Jade.
• Wounded Gazelle Gambit: When Tori searches through his cellphone.

Hope Quincy

• Berserk Button: "Sassing" her is a definite way to set her off.
• Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Within the first minute of her appearance, she happily invites Tori, Beck, and Robbie to sushi with her and André. By her second appearance, she's a full-blown bitch who questions Tori's presence at her party and outright tells her to keep her mouth shut.
• Clingy Jealous Girl: It's pretty clear later on that she is indeed jealous of Tori, most likely her friendship with André.
• Daddy's Girl: More so than Hayley, as it's visibly see how spoiled she is. It's brutally subverted though, when she gains a minor concussion from falling debris during the earthquake, her father prefers to watch Tori's and André's performance for a second time than to meet her at the hospital. The party-goers actually did the same thing.
  • And There Was Much Rejoicing: The fact that she gets knocked out during the earthquake right in front of André puts a smile on his face.
• Jerkass Has a Point: Has every reason to hate André considering he's only dating her to get an in with her dad and all but brings Tori as his date to her birthday party while being her boyfriend.
• One-Shot Character
• Sassy and Scary Black Woman
• Spoiled Brat: Flipped out on the hostess over the food at her party.
• Too Dumb to Live: During the earthquake, she's worried about her presents instead of taking covers like everyone did. You can guess how that went.
• Tsundere and/or Yandere: If Yandere, she's not too far from the typical, murderous example; even when André dumps her, she's still hell-bent on having him sing at her birthday party. Those mood-swings don't help her much, either.

Wing Lee

• Affably Evil
• All Asians Are Alike: Wok Star was a Chinese restaurant and Nozu is a Japanese/sushi restaurant, leading to Tori to ask her which ethnicity she is.
• Asian People Are Funny, but Rude
• Dragon Lady: Upon her makeover since opening Nozu's, though her actual ethnicity is unknown.
• Deal with the Devil: She was only going to invest in Jade's play if her daughter was to star as an singing angel. Unfortunately, her daughter was known as "talentless and irritating".
• Disposing of a Body: Outright told her employee to get rid of a stroke-feigning Trina in this manner.

Wing: Just hide the body and don't say nothing to anybody! Everyone: O_O

• Even Evil Has Passions: She is very dedicated to the arts.
• Hoist By Her Own Petard: Or something like that... a subverted example, it's implied that she caused the "mysterious fire" that burned down Wok Star to build Nozu.
  • Played straight in her first appearance, in that her obsession with getting a picture with a celebrity for her wall made her miss opening night of the play.
• Karma Houdini: Most likely burned down her own restaurant and got away with it.
• Mama Bear/Revenge: She reappears in André's Horrible Girl, and it's eerily implied that she will get back at Tori for what she did to her daughter in Wok Star, though it's hard to say whether it's implied on bound to happen seeing she outright told Tori she was to exact payback.
  • Both tropes are played straight in a way in How Trina Got In.
• Misplaced Retribution: Granted, Tori played a role in her daughter being strung up but it was done so Jade could have her play. Logically, Mrs. Lee should be swearing revenge on Jade.
• Stage Mom: Practically commands her daughter to speak louder.

Daisy: Hi. Wing: More power! Daisy: HI!

• Why Do You Keep Changing Jobs?: Well... not change jobs, but Wok Star did burn down in a "mysterious fire", with the implication that she burned it down herself as an insurance fraud to build Nozu.

Dale Squires

• Asshole Victim: Right after his Jerkass Realization, he gets his ass kicked by Kendra on national television.
• Hey, It's That Guy!: Kit Taylor is now a Indie film director who takes all the credit.
• Jerkass: Took all of the credit for the film Tori "directed" herself, and told her that's how the movie business is.
  • Jerkass Realization/Heel Face Door Slam: His conscious caught up with him and he gave Tori and the others the credit they deserved during his confession. Unfortunately, it was too late for that.
• It's All About Me: Definitely.
• Kick the Son of a Bitch: The beatdown he gained from Kendra.
• Lazy Bum: Did completely nothing during the filming of the gang's movie and still took the credit for anything.
• Manipulative Editing: When he changed the credits in the movie.

• Disproportionate Retribution: Fired Beck because he was friends with Tori, who had corrected her line while Beck had done nothing at all. Then she kicks Tori off the set.

• Laser-Guided Karma: More like Arrow-Guided Karma; she accidentally shouts out the cue for someone to fire a crossbow on the set while yelling at Tori, and is shot in the hand in the process.
• Nice Character, Mean Actress: Well, her character was more serious than nice, and it didn't take that long to show that she's a complete bitch.

Mason Thornesmith

• Big Bad: Of Tori Goes Platinum.
• But for Me It Was Tuesday: Doesn't actually seem to remember Jade come Season 4.
• Deal with the Devil: Gives off this vibe in his first appearance.
• Defeat Means Friendship: After Jade gives Tori her well earned spot back, and Mason sees how successful she is, he genuinely backs her on her talent alone.
• Everyone Has Standards: Not even he will give Cat more bibble.
• Graceful Loser: Surprisingly. Once Tori owns the Platinum Music Awards via her talent alone and being herself, he puts his full support behind her.
• Jerkass: At first. He later seems to evolve into a Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
• Never My Fault: Once his Yes-Man points out that he fired Tori, he fires said Yes-Man.
