Tropedia

  • Before making a single edit, Tropedia EXPECTS our site policy and manual of style to be followed. Failure to do so may result in deletion of contributions and blocks of users who refuse to learn to do so. Our policies can be reviewed here.
  • All images MUST now have proper attribution, those who neglect to assign at least the "fair use" licensing to an image may have it deleted. All new pages should use the preloadable templates feature on the edit page to add the appropriate basic page markup. Pages that don't do this will be subject to deletion, with or without explanation.
  • All new trope pages will be made with the "Trope Workshop" found on the "Troper Tools" menu and worked on until they have at least three examples. The Trope workshop specific templates can then be removed and it will be regarded as a regular trope page after being moved to the Main namespace. THIS SHOULD BE WORKING NOW, REPORT ANY ISSUES TO Janna2000, SelfCloak or RRabbit42. DON'T MAKE PAGES MANUALLY UNLESS A TEMPLATE IS BROKEN, AND REPORT IT THAT IS THE CASE. PAGES WILL BE DELETED OTHERWISE IF THEY ARE MISSING BASIC MARKUP.

Disney

  • A famous example is Pirates of the Caribbean at Disney theme Parks, several aspects, like the winch bride were removed between 1997-2017 due to values dissonance.
  • The Carousel of Progress at Disney Theme Parks. Since a lot of its script was written in The Sixties, there's a lot of talk about how new technology helps ease the women's burden of housework. It never occurs to the husband that the burden could be eased more if they'd step in.
    • Even in the sixties, such things would have been regarded as increasingly antiquated. The current script treats those comments—which only occur in the scenes from the 1900s, 20s, and 40s anyway—as conscious anachronisms.

Six Flags

  • The Carousel Song at Marriott's Great America, while quaint in the 70s when the song was made, since the MeToo movement passed and gone, The Carousel Song now feels sexist to some people, as some lyrics like "Meet a special girl, hold her hand" are creepy to modern viewers.
  • The deep south parks used to have the Confederate Flag (NOT THE ONE WITH THE BIG BLUE X) but it was removed.
  • A lot of the rides like "Tales from the Okefonkee", "Indian Paddle Ride", and even the "Mine Trains" have not aged well, but you may ask, what's wrong with the mine ride? Simple... it's themed to the CSA.

Etc.

  • Luna Park's Coney Island (the one in Australia) has faced some criticism over the years for several black stereotypes.
  • Bon Bon Land is a theme park in Denmark, this is the only example on the theme parks section that is about location and not age, in Denmark, such things that are in the park, like the Confederate Flag, the Indian stereotypes and other stuff in the park are normal parodies, but in the west... it's criticized.
  • KECO built a coaster called "Rebel Yell", while in the 20th century (especially with the song's popularity) people thought it was innocent, but after a certain incident took place, it was renamed "Racer 75".
