Before making a single edit, Tropedia EXPECTS our site policy and manual of style to be followed. Failure to do so may result in deletion of contributions and blocks of users who refuse to learn to do so. Our policies can be reviewed here.
All images MUST now have proper attribution, those who neglect to assign at least the "fair use" licensing to an image may have it deleted. All new pages should use the preloadable templates feature on the edit page to add the appropriate basic page markup. Pages that don't do this will be subject to deletion, with or without explanation.
All new trope pages will be made with the "Trope Workshop" found on the "Troper Tools" menu and worked on until they have at least three examples. The Trope workshop specific templates can then be removed and it will be regarded as a regular trope page after being moved to the Main namespace. THIS SHOULD BE WORKING NOW, REPORT ANY ISSUES TO Janna2000, SelfCloak or RRabbit42. DON'T MAKE PAGES MANUALLY UNLESS A TEMPLATE IS BROKEN, AND REPORT IT THAT IS THE CASE. PAGES WILL BE DELETED OTHERWISE IF THEY ARE MISSING BASIC MARKUP.
Anticlimax Boss: The fight between Optimus and the Fallen is barely two minutes long. And most of the punching is between Optimus and Megatron.
Badass Decay: Megatron and Starscream. Megatron's case is more arguable than in the following film, however, since he still engages in quite a bit of genuine combat and manages to kill Optimus (though he gets better). Starscream, meanwhile, has been reduced to a complete joke and a Butt Monkey of sorts.
Big Lipped Alligator Moment: The scene with the Allspark fragment from the first film falling into the kitchen, turning his kitchen appliances into destructive feral Transformers, a fight ensues, the house is destroyed. Afterward, this scene is never mentioned again, despite likely being used to establish the power of just one Allspark fragment.
Contested Sequel: Everyone agrees the Sequel Escalation was excessive, but the final opinion is divided between "mindless fun" or "total abomination".
Memetic Mutation: Optimus' line "Give me your face!" right before tearing the Fallen's face off.
Memetic Loser: This particular version of Devastator became a source of mockery pre-and-post premiere of the movie (aside from being commonly decried as an "In Name Only" take).
The Problem with Licensed Games: Subverted. All of this movie′s tie-in games received mixed reviews at best from critics (and negative at worst; this is pretty much the case for the PSP port), and many players considered most of them to be perfectly fine games.
Special Effects Failure: It's plainly obvious that the rendering and animation of the robots (Bar Devastator) during all of the desert scenes aren't up to par as the rest of the movie. Also, the scene were Starscream backs up into a hatchling's pod looks stiff and unnatural.
