  • Before making a single edit, Tropedia EXPECTS our site policy and manual of style to be followed. Failure to do so may result in deletion of contributions and blocks of users who refuse to learn to do so. Our policies can be reviewed here.
  • All images MUST now have proper attribution, those who neglect to assign at least the "fair use" licensing to an image may have it deleted. All new pages should use the preloadable templates feature on the edit page to add the appropriate basic page markup. Pages that don't do this will be subject to deletion, with or without explanation.
  • All new trope pages will be made with the "Trope Workshop" found on the "Troper Tools" menu and worked on until they have at least three examples. The Trope workshop specific templates can then be removed and it will be regarded as a regular trope page after being moved to the Main namespace. THIS SHOULD BE WORKING NOW, REPORT ANY ISSUES TO Janna2000, SelfCloak or RRabbit42. DON'T MAKE PAGES MANUALLY UNLESS A TEMPLATE IS BROKEN, AND REPORT IT THAT IS THE CASE. PAGES WILL BE DELETED OTHERWISE IF THEY ARE MISSING BASIC MARKUP.

Basic Trope: Sunflower as a symbol of energy and happiness.

  • Straight: Magical Girl Heartropea is a Genki Girl, has The Power of the Sun, and has Sunflower as her Flower Motifs.
  • Exaggerated: Whenever Heartropea use her power, Sunflowers bloom as far as the eye can see.
  • Justified: There are really no other flower fitting Heartropea's personality.
  • Inverted: The Big Bad Queen Darke has dark powers and has black roses as her Flower Motifs.
  • Subverted: Sunflower is associated with Heartropea due to her power, but she favors lilies in mundane life.
  • Double Subverted: A few episodes later Momotsuki joins her fight versus Queen Darke's dark kingdom, carrying lily symbolism with her. To make herself unique, Heartropea changes her personal flower to Sunflower.
  • Parodied: Heartropea uses weaponized Sunflowers.
  • Deconstructed: There is a character named Himawari (TL Note: Himawari means Sunflower). She was named so because her big sister(s) died in infancy, and her mother wants her to be strong and cheerful. Well, she is, except that she's faking it because 1) she is actually a quiet girl, and 2) she only wants to make her mother happy. Except that her mother can't really get over her children's death, and thus rarely smiles. This in turn makes Himawari hates her name and Sunflowers in general. She regularly pulls out Sunflowers she grows herself and rips them to bits to vent her frustrations.
  • Reconstructed: After the Sunflower Fairies appears and tell her how they love her, she stops hating the Sunflowers and sincerely make them part of her image.
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted: No characters are associated with Sunflowers.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: "Your garden of sunflowers fits you well."
  • Invoked: A character associates herself with Sunflowers because she wants to be a cheerful person, like those anime girls.
  • Exploited: A character associates herself with Sunflowers because she wants to fool others into thinking that she is a cheerful person.
  • Defied: Sunny Heartropea is associated with Chrysanthemum instead of Sunflower.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
