In General

Action Girl: All of them. Though Gems don't have genders and just identify as female.
The Atoner: They're trying to atone for what the Homeworld Gems did to the Earth and other planets.
Berserk Button: Do not badmouth Rose Quartz or mention Pink Diamond's shattering in their presence.
Dark Secret: They have a lot of dirty laundry.
Destructive Saviour: In Episode Two, Amethyst praises Steven for saving most of Beach City.
Fatal Flaw
- Except for Steven and Rose, the Crystal Gems were initially very unwilling to trust humans with anything. If not for Steven being adamant that Greg could help, this belief would have meant Beach City would have been destroyed by the Red Eye.
- If something is strange and new, their response is to destroy it, no questions asked. Something which nearly gets Earth destroyed as they never interrogate Peridot about the Cluster.
- For a group of magical defenders, they're not very... motivated. They spent the first half of Season 1 only taking down Corrupted Gems whenever they just happened across them. In the second half of Season 3, Jasper rounded up a veritable army of Corrupted Gems without any form of home base or allies.
Freudian Trio: Pearl is Kirk, Amethyst is McCoy and Garnet is Spock.
Hidden Depths: Though they project an image of confidence to Steven, they are very broken inside.
La Résistance
Last of Their Kind: The small group living in Beach City are the last Crystal Gems. The others having either been killed or corrupted. Before Lapis was introduced, they were hinted to be the last Gems period.
Locked Out of the Loop: Pearl aside, none of them knew Rose Quartz was Pink Diamond.
Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: The main reason they defected from Homeworld is that they were treated like crap.
Multinational Team: Garnet (and therefore Ruby and Sapphire) and Lapis are from Blue Diamond's court, Peridot is from Yellow's, Amethyst, Rose and Pearl are from Pink's and they all come from vastly different positions in the Gem hierarchy.
My Species Doth Protest Too Much: Gem philosophy is to conquer every planet within their line of sight. These Gems just kick back and take it easy.
Not So Different: To the Homeworld Gems. Even though they're not trying to wipe out all non-Gem life, they still believe in the superiority of Gems over non-Gem life.
Not Worth Killing: The Diamonds learn pretty quickly that the Crystal Gems are still alive... and do nothing because they don't see them as threats. Well that and the Cluster.
Parents as People: Steven looks up to them but it's clear they're just as damaged as anyone else.
Parental Substitute: To Steven.
The Remnant: Once there was an army of Crystal Gems, able to spread out across, and even hold, the planet. When the series began, there were three left.
Weak but Skilled: The Crystal Gems are pretty weak and useless by Homeworld standards but they have thousands of years of battle experience and a willingness to be unconventional backing them up.
You Can't Go Home Again: They cannot return to the Gem Homeworld, though they consider Earth their home now.

Main Group

Steven Universe

Performed by: Zach Callison (original), Leisha Medina (Venezuelan Spanish)

Acrofatic: He's more chubby than fat but he can move really fast. Though he's lost weight as the series went on.
Actual Pacifist: It's most notable in that his only real weapon is a shield. Something meant for defense.
All-Loving Hero: His defining trait. He loves everything and wants everyone to be happy.
Ambiguous Disorder: He might have ADHD and/or autism.
Awesome McCoolname: His last name is "Universe."
Bad Powers, Good People: The New Lars shows he can possess people. If he wasn't so kind hearted, he could probably conquer the world.
Batman Can Breathe in Space: Zigzagged. At the very least, seems to be able to survive in space longer than your average human would.
Be Careful What You Wish For: Throughout the series, he's wanted to be like his mother and looked up to like she was. The Homeworld Gems treat him like his mother alright. When they hold him responsible for her war crimes. When the Diamonds figure out who his mother really was, they have him resume her roles.
Benevolent Boss: When taking on Pink Dimaond's role, he acts very kindly towards the Pebbles.
Berserk Button: He doesn't like it when the faith he's put in others backfires.
Beware the Nice Ones: Getting him annoyed is, a task unto itself but it's not pretty when he gets angry.
Break Them by Talking: Steven prefers to talk out his problems.
Character Development: He started out thinking ice cream activated his powers and now takes his Gem missions more seriously.
Character Title
Child Prodigy: Especially towards music. He can play the piano, the tambourine, the guitar and the ukulele. And he's only fourteen.
Depending on the Artist: How short is Steven? Does he need a footstool to reach the top of the counter or doesn't he?
Depending on the Writer: How does Steven's healing spit work? Does it work on anything, does he need to be emotionally stable to activate it?
Emotional Maturity Is Physical Maturity: Steven only looks as old as he feels as seen in Too Many Birthdays.
Fatal Flaw:
- Steven wants everyone to be happy and will do everything in his power to make them happy, even if that comes at the cost of his happiness or even safety. Amethyst calls him out on this in What's Your Problem?
- His Good Cannot Comprehend Evil attitude makes it hard for him to understand that sometimes the heroes have to do less than moral things. It's most notable when he learns of Rose Quartz's supposed shattering Pink Diamond and has trouble viewing it as anything but an act of unnecessary cruelty even though Rose did it to save Earth from the Diamonds.
Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: When the show began, Steven couldn't understand why anyone would do anything evil.
Half-Human Hybrid: Half Human/Half Gem. Becomes a bonus since he's slightly immune to anti-Gem weapons, and his Gem powers work on humans (to a degree).
Half-Identifying Hybrid: An interesting example. He thought of himself as a Gem when the series began but was regarded by them as a human. The Diamonds then regard him as one of them but he then thinks of himself as human. Whatever someone says he is, he seems to identify as the opposite.
Healing Spit: While Steven's mom had healing tears, Steven's healing powers come from his saliva, and only work on stuff he shares a bond with.
Heroic Sacrifice: When he sees that the Crystal Gems can't stop Aquamarine and Topaz, he reveals he has Rose Quartz's gem and surrenders himself to Homeworld to spare everyone else.
I Am Not My Mother: Struggles with this trope. As Pink Steven so aptly puts it, Pink/Rose is "GOOOOOONNNNE!"
Living Emotional Crutch: To the Crystal Gems.
No Sell: Owing to his organic half, weapons designed to disrupt the hard light bodies of Gems give him little more than a mild tingling.
Past Life Memories: His visions of Pink Diamond. They weren't dreams or astral projection. And in the end, it's implied this is all they were. Just some lingering memories encoded in the gemstone.
Rule of Cool/Rule of Drama: Steven often acts in certain ways because he saw people act like that in movies and television shows.
Shapeshifter Default Form: His normal form is obviously this, but if he expends too much energy, he poofs back to being an infant to build up his strength again.
The Smurfette Principle: Inverted. He's the only male of the main characters.
Spanner in the Works: Since the Crystal Gems aren't 100% sure how Steven can even exist, the Homeworld Gems didn't count on him at all. Steven proves able to not only No Sell their security but bubble the Cluster.
Stepford Smiler: In Seasons 3 and 4, he really began taking issue with the Gems hiding things from him and hinted at a frustration of being the only human/Gem hybrid.
Strong Family Resemblance: To Greg. More noticeable when Steven rapidly ages himself in Too Many Birthdays. His poofy hair does slightly resemble Rose's own hair.
Super Speed: Downplayed but he can move pretty fast when he wants to. Foreshadows his, or should we say Rose's, true nature.
Super Strength: He's strong enough to lift and carry Greg over his head. And Greg isn't exactly a slim guy.
Tagalong Kid: When the series began.
Younger Than They Look: He hasn't changed in appearance since he was eight years old but is actually fourteen. By the movie, he's sixteen and now looks the part.

Pearl

Absurdly Sharp Blade: Her spear.
Ambiguous Disorder: It's hinted several times that Pearl might have the Gem equivalent of autism.
Bad Liar
Beautiful Slave Girl: All the Pealrs are this, and this one wasn't an exception.
Blood Knight: Pearl takes perhaps a bit too much joy in fighting.
Broken Bird: Rose's disappearance AND Pearl's own self-esteem issues did not mix well.
Character Development: When the series started, Pearl kept Steven around as a form of fulfilling her obligations to Rose. Now she's graduated to a full-on Helicopter Mom to him and Connie.
Clingy Jealous Girl: Towards Rose.
The Confidant: She was Rose's. Learning that there were some secrets Rose didn't trust her with, doesn't still well with her. Makes a devastating amount of sense considering the sheer scope of the Dark Secret, Rose made Pearl promise to keep.
Depending on the Artist: Is her hair pink or light beige?
Freudian Excuse: Season 5 flashbacks imply part of the reason she wanted to make Rose/Pink so happy was that she was essentially a Replacement Goldfish to her beloved Pearl.
Gagging on Your Words: Pearl admits to wanting to tell Steven about Homeworld but seems physically unable to say it. Turns out she promised she wouldn't. A Pearl literally cannot disobey her owner's commands.
I Just Want to Be Special: Pearl is a member of a Servant Race and is constantly trying to show she can do things on her own and overcome her crushing inferiority issues.
Inferiority Superiority Complex: Pearl talks big to cover up the fact that, by Homeworld standards, she's essentially a piece of jewelry to show off.
Loophole Abuse: Pearl promised she'd never tell anyone the truth behind Rose shattering Pink Diamond. That didn't mean she couldn't show them. And since someone found out, she can now freely tell anyone she wants.
Mama Bear: To Steven, she even calls him her baby on a few occasions. Goes into My Beloved Smother at times, however.
Mysterious Past: Pearl wasn't Pink Diamond's original Pearl. She even says she was "given" to Pink. Where she was and who she belonged to before that is unknown.
Picky Eater: She doesn't like eating period.
Prongs of Poseidon: Her weapon is a spear but she gets an upgrade from Bismuth to upgrade it into a trident.
Replacement Goldfish: From White Diamond's and her own point of view at least. It's clear that Pink viewed Pearl as a separate and unique individual whom she loved as her own person.
Satisfied Street Rat: "That's right! I am a pearl!" *Punches Peridot across the face.*
Servant Race: Pearl was once, in Peridot's words, "somebody's shiny toy."
She's Got Legs: Pearl's pretty tall and slender, and you know what that means.
Undying Loyalty: To Rose Quartz.
Unwitting Instigator of Doom: "Disguise yourself as a Quartz, Pink Diamond." What's the worst that could happen?
Unrequited Tragic Maiden: Can be easily seen as one for Rose.
Weak but Skilled: She's nowhere near as strong as Amethyst and Garnet but she's flexible, fast and her spear is lethally effective.

Garnet

Performed by: Estelle (original), Rocío Mallo (Venezuelan Spanish)

The Ace:
- Considered by pretty much everyone to be the best of the Crystal Gems.
- To Fusions. Most healthy fusions can't stay fused for more than a few hours. Garnet can stay fused for years at a time and has no extra limbs or deformities save for her third eye.
Always Someone Better: Both Pearl and Amethyst think this regarding her.
Anthropomorphic Personification: She considers herself the incarnation of Ruby and Sapphire's love.
Attack of the 50 Foot Whatever: Was temporarly made giant sized by Yellow Diamond as part her plan turn Steven back to his normal self. She is back to regular size once Steven is saved.
Battle Couple: She is one.
Berserk Button: Fusion is sacred to Garnet and both her components. Don't dick around with it around her.
The Big Girl
Broken Ace: Garnet admits that she's not as perfect as everyone thinks she is but doesn't let her insecurities control her.
Brutal Honesty
Cool Big Sister: To Steven.
Cool Shades
Deadpan Snarker
Foreshadowing: Her being a fusion is a Late Arrival Spoiler but it was hinted at in Season 1 by her boasting that fusion is easy for her and having two gemstones (one on each hand) and having a extra eye.
Gentle Giant: In a way due to her being just as prone to being just as destructive as Pearl and Amethyst during battles but still she does her best to show kindness to her allies and being a good parental figure to Steven. She becomes a more straighter example in I Am My Monster due to Yellow Diamond's powers and the reason why for this is because her plan involves giving Steven a initiative Cooldown Hug and wants to be near his size just so she can able to properly comfort him.
Hartman Hips: Just one leg is larger than Pearl.
Heroic Willpower: While everyone else is on the ground, overwhelmed by Blue Diamond's Emotion Bomb, Garnet powers through and manages to distract Blue long enough for her to be attacked.
Ms. Fanservice: Implied breasts? Check, Hartman Hips? Check, Radar-dodgingly fanservicey fusion dances? Check. Yup, definitely this.
Seer
Shock and Awe: Ruby's fire and Sapphire's ice give her electric powers.
Sixth Ranger: To Rose and Pearl after joining them at the end of the flashback in The Answer.
Spell My Name with a "The": Peridot and Lapis sometimes calls her "The Garnet".
Squee: Not above this.
The Stoic
Talking to Herself: Whenever Ruby and Sapphire start to disagree.
Token Yuri Girls: A fusion of the only lesbian Official Couple.
Unreliable Narrator: Not that many would fault her, but she really bashes on the Diamonds.
War Is Hell: While she had some moments she's proud of, she doesn't look back on the Gem War fondly.
Weak but Skilled: Garnet doesn't have Opal's long range attacks or Malchite's raw power but she's emotionally stable and her Future Vision lets her dominate the battle field.

You Are Better Than You Think You Are:
- Says this to Pearl in Friend Ship.
- And again when meeting the Off-Colors, recounting the tale of Rose Quartz's rebellion and defiantly proclaiming that their mere existence is a giant middle finger to the Diamonds' regime.
You Are in Command Now: Since Rose's passing, Garnet has (somewhat reluctantly) taken up the mantle of leader of the Crystal Gems.

Ruby

Performed by: Charlyne Yi (original), Judith Noguera (Venezuelan Spanish)

Adorkable: Contrasting Garnet and Sapphire.
Angrish: Whenever Ruby gets angry, this isn't far behind.
Bad Liar: She gets away with it though because the people she's lying to literally cannot count to six.
Butch Lesbian: Fits some of the criteria. Amusingly enough however, she's the one who wears the white dress at the wedding. In your face censors.
Dumb Muscle: Subverted. She thinks she's this and while not as smart as Sapphire, she's more impulsive than anything else.
Expendable Clone: How she views herself considering there are countless Rubies who are mass-produced to be cannon fodder.
Foil: To Sapphire.
Hot Shots: Fire is Ruby's true elemental nature.
I Just Want to Be Free: In StevenBomb 7, Ruby realizes though it's been 5000+ years since she defected from Blue Diamond, she's been listening to Sapphire and Rose the entire time since. She eventually realizes that independence from Sapphire is not mutually exclusive from being with her.
Large Ham: "I am an eternal flame BABY!"
Not So Stoic: More emotional and hot blooded than Sapphire.
Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Ruby is around Steven's height and can send a table flying with only one fist.
Playing With Fire: All Rubies have this. When angry, Ruby can leave burn marks with her feet and evaporate a body of water by standing in it.
Red Oni, Blue Oni: Colour coded with Sapphire. Ruby is red.
Spanner in the Works: To Sapphire's prediction of the Rebellion ending in Blue Diamond's sky arena. Ruby tackled Sapphire out of the way of Pearl's sword and accidentally fused with her, the shock being enough for Rose and Pearl to escape. Which means, in a roundabout way, Ruby saved the Earth from Gem colonization.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Though having two Gems of a different type fuse did give the Diamonds the idea for the Cluster.
Tomboy and Girly Girl: With Sapphire. She's the Tomboy.

Sapphire

Performed by: Erica Luttrell (original), Arelys González (Venezuelan Spanish)

Adorkable: Graduates to this by the time of "Hit the Diamond".
Blind Seer: Sapphire isn't blind but her hair droops down in front of her face creating this image.
Blue Blood: Sapphires are pretty high up on the Gem caste system.
Character Development: Originally Sapphire viewed the future as set in stone but she's since learned to be more open and can now see multiple scenarios.
Cyclops: She only has one eye that serves as Garnet's third eye despite Ruby's left eye as Garnet is colored blue.
Fatal Flaw: Sapphire keeps looking into the future for answers and hope. Something which blinds her to the present.
Foil: To Ruby.
Forgot About Her Powers: As she herself lampshades, she was so happy to be part of Garnet that she never used her Future Vision on Rose to see who she really was.
Gamer Chick: As seen in Arcade Mania. Note how Garnet's upper eye is intently following the game.
Hidden Depths:
- She has lots of worries, likely due to her Future Vision and trying to prevent bad futures.
- Despite being The Stoic, Now We're Only Falling Apart reveals her to be violently anti-Diamond and the most personally offended that Rose was Pink Diamond and on a lighter note before this, in Hit the Diamond she becomes much more upbeat and not as stoic as she normally is.
An Ice Person: Ice is Sapphire's true elemental nature.
Nerves of Steel
Pride: Hinted to be where Garnet gets it from.
Red Oni, Blue Oni: Colour coded with Ruby. Sapphire is blue.
Seers
Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: The reason she firmly believed You Can't Fight Fate was because she herself was so passive that she didn't even bother to see if it was possible to do so and just assumed it was all set in stone.
Tomboy and Girly Girl: With Ruby. She's the Girly Girl.
You Can't Fight Fate: Before Ruby came along, Sapphire wholeheartedly believed this.

Amethyst

Animal Motifs: She has a lot of cat motifs with a focus on pumas.
Annoying Younger Sibling: Jasper views her as one.
Balloon Belly: In "Steven the Swordfighter" after consuming a cloud.
Berserk Button: She doesn't like being reminded of her origins.
Big Sister Instinct: Towards Steven.
Bratty Teenage Daughter: To Pearl's Team Mom.
Brilliant but Lazy: She's probably the strongest of the Crystal Gems but felt no need to train. Getting beaten by Jasper makes her reconsider this.
Brutal Honesty: Oh yes.
Butt Monkey: BWOMP BWOMP! Seriously, count the amount of times she gets poofed compared to everyone else.
Cain and Abel: The Abel to Jasper's Cain.
Celibate Heroine: Amethyst is the only one of the main Crystal Gems who hasn't expressed romantic express in anyone.
The Chick
Cool Big Sis: To Steven. to the point that, out of the three Crystal Gems, she was the one he chose to fuse himself with first.
Elite Mook: By Homeworld standards, Amethysts are rank and file soldiers but due to being raised by the Crystal Gems, Amethyst is far above what her sisters are able to do and has moves Homeworld would never allow an Amethyst to have.
Epic Flail: Thanks to her upgrade from Bismuth, her whip has maces on the ends.
Extreme Omnivore: She'll chug an entire can of beans.
Fatal Flaw: Rage. If she gets angry enough, she'll just be a beserker and not use any skill.
The Gadfly
The Hedonist: If Amethyst had her way, she would eat, sleep and fight whenever the mood struck her.
Heroic Self-Deprecation: Amethysts hates that she's born from the Earth Kindergarten.
Hypocrite: Taunting her friends is fine. Taunting her is crossing the line.
I Just Want to Be You: In Season 3, Amethyst starts to have an unhealthy obsession with Jasper's power and skill. In a Freeze-Frame Bonus, Amethyst even appears to try and reshape her physical form into something more like Jasper's when reforming.
Ms. Fanservice: Less so than Garnet, but she shook her butt at Pearl in Giant Woman and her fusion dance with Garnet, a fellow Ms. Fanservice, also gave some to her. Also, she was shown in her underwear in Back to the Barn.
Pass the Popcorn: She's often seen snacking when arguments are happening. In Season 4, she even gets popcorn to watch.
Plucky Comic Relief
Thicker Than Water: Gems have no blood but Amethyst still feels sympathy for Jasper whom she views as her sister.
Took a Level In Badass: After Jasper humiliates her, she decides to take several. Though she's not yet up to Jasper's level.
The Unapologetic: Amethyst will admit she's made mistakes but never outright says she's sorry.
Unskilled but Strong: Owing to her age and not having many battles, she hasn't developed her innate strength. Until Jasper shows her, the true potential of a Quartz soldier.
Whip It Good: Her weapon of choice.
You Are Better Than You Think You Are/You Are Not Alone: Steven says this to her in "Earthlings" telling her to stop trying to be like Jasper and that unlike Jasper, Amethyst has friends who look out for her.

Connie Maheswaran

Action Girl: Wielding a BFS qualifies for sure.
Adorably Precocious Child: Connie knows things most adults don't and has yet to start seventh grade. Her last stated age was 12 and 3/4.
Badass Adorable
Because You Were Nice to Me: Steven outright saying they could be friends after her confession of having none is what started their friendship.
Birds of a Feather: A platonic example with Pearl.
Blind Without'Em: Until an Indirect Kiss from Steven that is.
Boring Yet Practical: Most of Connie's plans in a nutshell.
Brutal Honesty: She does not mince words.
Character Development: Connie started out as a shy, anxious shut-in who was at the mercy of her parents, particularly her mother, and feared all things to do with Gems, but soon became a confident warrior who could not only stand up to her parents but fight Topaz warriors.
Depending on the Artist: Connie is taller than Steven but how short she (and thus he) is varies wildly.
Disappointed in You: In Steven in the second Bomb of Season 5. She viewed them as equal partners and was extremely hurt that Steven sacrificed himself to Homeworld because he thought only he could save the day.
Humans Are Bastards: Connie doesn't think that Earth needs Gems to threaten it, humans will destroy the Earth themselves via their own greed and stupidity. Though she holds no malice towards her kind.
I Just Want to Be Free: From her mother.
I Just Want to Be Special: In Lion 2: The Movie, she admits that she was envious of Steven's powers and adventures.
I Just Want to Have Friends: How she started out.
Implied Love Interest: Though there's been plenty of Ship Tease between the two, she's never been explicitly labelled as Steven's girlfriend.
Intergenerational Friendship: With Greg. They sometimes high five about human unity.
Interspecies Friendship: With the Crystal Gems.
Interspecies Romance: With Steven.
Living Emotional Crutch: A subtle one to Steven.
Muggle Best Friend: To Steven.
Not So Above It All: She can be very rash sometimes and loves Dogcopter just as much as Steven.

Token Human: While the Crystal Gems have other human allies (Greg being the most prominent), Connie is the only one they take with them on combat missions.
We Are as Mayflies: Connie first feared this trope given that Steven might not age due to his Gem heritage before she said that no matter what age Steven looked like, they'd stay friends.
Wise Beyond Their Years
Wrecked Weapon: Attempts to poof Blue Diamond with Rose's sword. Blue catches the sword and shatters it like glass.

Peridot

Performed by: Shelby Rabara (original), Sofía Narváez and Mariagni Álvarez (Venezuelan Spanish)

Adorkable
Alien Arts Are Appreciated: She's fallen in love with Earth television specifically Camp Pining Hearts.
Angrish: Though it's more weird noises than anything else especially compared to Ruby.
Anime Hair: Something which is often mistaken for a helmet.
Artificial Limbs: Her limb enhancers though they just fit over her actual limbs rather than taking the place of them.
Berserk Button: Peridot has a strict adherence to logic and efficiency and won't hesitate to call out anyone who's acting irrationally. Even if that someone is Yellow Diamond.
Big Bad: For the second half of Season 1 (barring the finale) and the first half of Season 2.
Blue and Orange Morality: Prior to her Heel-Face Turn. Peridot viewed good and bad in terms of usefulness to the Gem Empire. Her main argument for sparing Earth wasn't because she liked it, but because the resources it offered could be useful to the Homeworld Gems. Even afterwards she has some hints of it saying that Lapis should automatically stop hating her because she's now defected from Homeworld.
Breakout Character
Catch Phrase: Calls a lot of people "Clods" as a supposed swear.
Cowardly Lion: Justified since she can't really fight without her limb enhancers (Though she can't really fight at all even with her limb enhancers since Peridots were made to be technicians.)
Demoted to Dragon: She started out as the first Homeworld antagonist before being shoved aside in favour of Jasper for the first season finale.
Demoted to Extra: After being a major presence in Season 2, she becomes a recurring character in Seasons 3, 4 and 5.
Despair Event Horizon: When Lapis leaves Earth.
Enemy Mine: What sets off her Heel Face Turn. The Cluster will destroy the Earth and she doesn't have a way off of Earth.
Evil Counterpart: Started out as Pearl's. A low ranking Gem that was smart beyond her station and gifted with an aptitude for engineering and machinery.
Evil Is Petty: Peridot was so hellbent on killing the Crystal Gems in Season 2 because she was a loyal servant of Yellow Diamond and dedicated to her mistress' goals right? Wrong, the Crystal Gems were destroying her equipment.
Expy: Personality wise, Peridot started out as Shockwave's logic and Zim's craziness. The former was been downplayed until Back to the Kindergarten and it went away again when Lapis came back.
Fire-Forged Friends: With the Crystal Gems.
Gone Horribly Right: She's dedicated enough to her job that she'll notice things the Diamonds don't want Gems to notice.
Heel Face Turn: Peridot started as a Homeworld Gem, but gradually became one of the Crystal Gems.
Hold Your Hippogriffs: "Clod."
I Choose to Stay: "Earth is our home now. Isn't it worth fighting for?"
Known Only By Their Nickname: Her full name is "Peridot Facet-2F5L Cut-5XG" but since she's the only Peridot on Earth, everyone just calls her Peridot. Homeworld Gems call her "Peridot 5XG" to save time.
Large Ham: "MY LIMB ENHANCERS! WHERE ARE MY LIMB ENHANCERS!?"
Made of Iron: "Us Peridots are tougher than we look."
Mundane Made Awesome: "Fools! Your invisible rotary shield was no match for me! Once I applied logic!". Translation: She was locked in a truck via the child safety lock and rolled down the window to escape.
My God, What Have I Done?: When she severs her ties with Homeworld by insulting Yellow Diamond.
Oh Crap: When she calls Yellow Diamond a clod.
Punch Clock Villain: At first, Peridot didn't give two shits about Earth or the Crystal Gems only wanting to complete her mission and head back to Homeworld.
Sanity Slippage: The more time Peridot spent on Earth in Season 2 without a way off the planet, didn't do her mind any favours.
Selective Magnetism: Though she's not very good at it yet.
Self-Serving Memory: Claims to have "told off" Yellow Diamond. Apparently she forget the Heroic BSOD she had right after insulting Yellow and how utterly terrified she was despite the light years separating them.
Small Name, Big Ego: She talks big and boasts about her brains but it's later revealed by Homeworld standards that she's not even of a high enough rank to own a Pearl. The only other Gem type who's confirmed to be too low to own Pearls are the Rubies.
Spell My Name with a "The": Inverted. Due to her time on Homeworld, she puts a "the" in front of other Gems' names such as "The Pearl", "The Garnet" and "The Steven". The equivalent is addressing a human by their profession or title, "The doctor", "The engineer" etc.
Still Wearing the Old Colors: Until she gets poofed by Yellow Diamond. Change Your Mind is the first episode to feature her redesign.
Super Prototype: Inverted. She's the successor instead of the prototype. While we've yet to see an Era-1 Peridot, Peridot implies they have power and abilities that Era-2 Peridots lack.
Troubled Fetal Position: On occasion.
Unwitting Instigator of Doom: In Marble Madness, she inputted all the names of Steven's friends into Homeworld's database under the assumption these were types of humans (like how a Peridot is a type of Gem). Yellow Diamond then used that list to select the humans that Aquamarine and Topaz were going to abduct.

You're Insane!: Says this to the Crystal Gems but admits that she's no better.

Lapis Lazuli

Alien Arts Are Appreciated: Like Peridot, she loves Camp Pining Hearts.
Alliterative Name: Lapis Lazuli.
And I Must Scream: She was trapped in a mirror for five thousand years and was aware of every second of it. Later becomes trapped in the ocean for the majority of Season 2 when fused with Jasper as Malachite till the Season 3 opener.
Bare Your Midriff: Her outfit is a dresskini until her regeneration in Change Your Mind.
Big Damn Heroes: In Reunited, she has an epic Changed My Mind, Kid moment by dropping the barn on Blue Diamond.
Broken Bird: One of the most hugest examples.
Brutal Honesty
Butt Monkey: Played for Drama as all the mistreatment she endures is due to her being in a Trauma Conga Line.
The Cameo: The Answer reveals she was a member of Blue Diamond's court (or at least someone who looks just like her).
Conditioned to Accept Horror: Poor Lapis just accepts any abuse that comes her way to which Steven points out in Same Old World.
Crippling Overspecialization: Lapis gems are designed for water manipulation. If she's not near water, she's helpless and the water in her gem is solely meant to be used for flight.
Dare to Be Badass: If she's going to be prosecuted for being a Crystal Gem, she may as well fight like one.
Dark Magical Girl: The closest to this in the cast.
Depending on the Writer: The only real thing that the writers can agree on is that Lapis is a brooding, slightly abrasive, aloof ally to the Crystal Gems who would much rather watch TV than do anything else. Beyond that, she can shift between Jerkass, Jerk with a Heart of Gold and Jerk with a Heart of Jerk all within one episode.
Did You Just Restrain Blue Diamond?: Lapis is the only Gem that gave Blue Diamond any form of challenge. Admittedly for less than a minute before she was overpowered but still.
Does Not Know Her Own Strength: It's heavy implied that Lapis does not realize just how powerful having hydrokinesis makes her on Earth.
Easily Forgiven: When she returns in Reunited, everyone runs up to hug her. To be fair, she dropped a barn on Blue Diamond as way of apology.
Emo Teen: Gives off this vibe after she is defused from Jasper.
Faster-Than-Light Travel: Apparently Lapis can fly out of the Milky Way under her own power.
Fatal Flaw:
- Wrath. She's slow to forgive anyone for wrongdoings towards her either via action or inaction. For example, while it's understandable that she's angry at the Crystal Gems, she's also angry at Peridot despite the fact that Peridot didn't capture her and was just doing her job on Earth and Lapis should be aware of how unwilling Gems are to betray or go against their Diamonds.
- Selfishness. Possibly her worser trait than her wrath, is that Lapis is primarily concern with her own happiness and safety to the point she has an All Take and No Give relationship with the only few friends she has. Shown in full force in Can't Go Back. She would love to come back to Earth but her fear of the Diamonds and highly honed survival instincts keeps her running from it.
Flaw Exploitation: When fused as Malachite, all Jasper has to do is remind Lapis that the Crystal Gems once angered her and she agrees to lend Jasper the power needed to fight them.
Glass Cannon: For all her power and being durable to survive a ship crash (though in a cell), it only took one hit from a Bismuth to poof her. This is more justified in Reunited considering the Gem who poofed her this time was Yellow Diamond.
Hair-Trigger Temper: It does not take much. "Raising the Barn" implies that Peridot and Pumpkin often have to choose their words very carefully so as to not set her off.
Heroic Willpower: Lapis kept Jasper subdued as Malachite for months. Even when Jasper gains control of the fusion, Lapis' voice can still be heard showing she still has a degree of control until Alexandrite intervenes.
History Repeats: Can't Go Back implies her life before the mirror wasn't all that dissimilar from her time with the Crystal Gems. Only this time, she's apparently decided it's better to leave such a life than have it taken.
An Ice Person: It's hinted that her hydrokinesis extends to this given Malachite's ice powers.
It's All About Me: Lapis is more concerned with the well-being of herself to the point that after learning that the Diamonds might unleash their wrath on Earth, Lapis literally uproots the barn with her hydrokinesis and flies off into space. She eventually grows out of it.
Lack of Empathy: Lapis is capable of remorse but mainly focuses on how situations affect her. In Raising the Barn, she never even stops to consider Peridot's feelings and ultimately decides to leave Earth and live alone.
Lethal Harmless Powers: By Homeworld standards, someone with hydrokenetic abilities is worthless given the lack of water on Gem planets. On Earth though? She's a goddess.
Making a Splash: She's powerful enough to drag the entire ocean and turn it into a tower reaching up the edge of the atmosphere.
My Greatest Failure: Her decision of fusing with Jasper and sacrificing herself to save Steven is this, as she is ashamed for forcing Jasper to stay in a fusion and admitting to liking abusing the latter.
Never Be Hurt Again: Lapis was so traumatized by the Gem War that she will never be caught in another, even if that means abandoning Peridot.
No Sell: She's felt worse than Blue Diamond's Emotion Bomb.
Put on a Bus: In Raising the Barn, she up and leaves Earth.
- The Bus Came Back: In Can't Go Back before it leaves again and comes back forever in Reunited.
Still Wearing the Old Colors: Owing to not fully being a Crystal Gem until Reunited where she finally becomes one and get poofed by Yellow Diamond, she still has Blue Diamond logos on her dress. In Change Your Mind, she's now sporting the traditional Crystal Gem stars.
Stranger in a Familiar Land: When she arrives back on Homeworld, she finds it unrecognizable due to the 5000 years of changes.
Terraform: According to Yellow Diamond, this is what Lapis Lazulis are made for.
The Unapologetic: Alone at Sea shows that Lapis is well aware of her horrific actions she did and is ashamed, but she has to actually apologize for any of them. In fact, when Connie reminds Lapis that the latter nearly drowned her while stealing Earth's water, Lapis doesn't deny it, but callously shrugs it off.
Undying Loyalty: To Steven.
Witch Hunt: The victim of one. She was thought to be a Crystal Gem by Homeworld and interrogated for information she didn't have.
Winged Humanoid: When her water wings are out.
The Worf Effect: Suffers this after getting her Gem healed. Alternatively, it could just be her laziness.
You Can't Go Home Again: At first because the home she knew is gone due to technological and societal progress over the course of five thousands years and then because she betrays Jasper.

Bismuth

Affably Evil: Bismuth isn't evil but she's amazing fun to be around.
Anti-Villain
Awesome but Impractical: Her Breaking Point weapon. While it's a powerful One-Hit Kill, it has short range and needs a few seconds to recharge after every hit. And that's assuming you hit the gemstone which could be located anywhere on the body.
Be All My Sins Remembered: Rose gave Bismuth an idealized legacy but Bismuth tells Steven that she wants to be remembered as she truly was.
Be Yourself: Bismuth's life philosophy.
Berserk Button: Do not lie to to Bismuth.
Big Fun
The Blacksmith: Of the Crystal Gems. She forged every non-summoned weapon that the Crystal Gems used in the Gem War and even upgraded a few summoned ones.
Blood Knight: When the Diamonds show up, she's the first to rally the Crystal Gems into fighting.
Bruiser with a Soft Center: Ruby and Sapphire's wedding vows drive her to tears.
Call a Human a Meatbag: Meatball actually but Steven doesn't hold it against her.
Character Development: Minor but Bismuth rallies the Crystal Gems to "put [Blue Diamond] in a bubble" as opposed to outright shattering her.
Death Seeker: Bismuth might have Survivor Guilt as she encourages Steven to shatter her.
Easily Forgiven: When she returns, the Crystal Gems hug-tackle her.
Fallen Hero
Foreshadowing:
- When Bismuth reforms, it's in a fighting position.
- She seizes up simply after Pearl mentions Rose.
- While she constantly talks about the Crystal Gems being free on Earth, note how she never says anything about protecting Earth or the humans who inhabit it.
Graceful Loser: When Steven defeats her, she admits he's better than Rose.
History Repeats: Poor Steven had no idea he used the exact same words as Rose did when rejecting the Breaking Point.
I Just Want to Be Special: Hinted at. Bismuth was just a construction worker before she joined the Crystal Gems and she later tells Steven that Rose turned her to the Crystal Gems by asking Bismuth what she wanted to build rather than just building what the Diamonds told her.
Knight Templar: At first. Now she's grown out of it.
Mr. Exposition: With the main trio out of action in the movie, Bismuth takes on this role.
Mundane Utility: Her ability to shapeshift her limbs into anything is also useful for playing badminton or putting things into the oven (which she can survive due to being built for working in the forges).

Pungeon Master: Replacing "business" with "Bismuth".
Shapeshifter Weapon: Like Cybertronians, her actual limbs can shapeshift into weapons. She mainly forms them into hammers and scythes.
Shadow Archetype: She's what the Crystal Gems could have become without Steven.
She Who Fights Monsters: Bismuth hated the "upper crusts" because they held no regard for the lives of other Gems and shattered them without a thought. Guess what Bismuth wants to do to the Homeworld Gems.
This Explains So Much: When she learns Rose Quartz and Pink Diamond were one in the same.
Walking Spoiler: She's the one who poofed Lapis and led to her being trapped in the mirror all those years ago leading to Lapis' character arc in the present day (Though her debut never acknowledges it) and the return of the Homeworld Gems.
You Are Better Than You Think You Are: She first tells Steven that he doesn't have to live in Rose's shadow and can just be himself.
