  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: The two biggest sci-fi Long Runners crossing paths at last? Picard in the TARDIS? The Doctor on a Borg cube? Yes the nerds were quite happy.
  • Broken Base: The Cybermen being Eviler Than Thou to the Borg. Character Shilling for the Cybermen? Out of Character moment for the Borg? For what it's worth, such attitudes were totally in character for both, the Borg assimilate civilizations, not individuals, while the Cybermen upgrade anyone they come across, meaning that they've long since been the more ruthless party. Though given the nature of the debate, if the Borg had been Eviler Than Thou, then the argument would still have happened.
  • Crossover Ship: Data really clicked with both the TARDIS and the Doctor.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: After the Doctor hears about Picard having been turned into Locutus, he offers his sympathies, saying that no one should have to go through that. Less than a year later, the Doctor would be partially upgraded into the Cyberiad in a manner very much like Locutus.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: To get around the issue of whether these Cybermen are the ones from Mondas or Pete's World, Guinan simply waves off the Cybermen as a product of parallel evolution, five years before that explanation for the Cybermen would be made official in "World Enough and Time."
  • Narm: In the Bad Future, the Cybermen have upgraded the Judoon, the Raxacoricofallapatorians, and the Klingons. The artistic cues that give away which species the reader is looking at makes it quite hard to take these Cybermen seriously.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The Borg came insanely close to assimilating the TARDIS.
