All new trope pages will be made with the "Trope Workshop" found on the "Troper Tools" menu and worked on until they have at least three examples. The Trope workshop specific templates can then be removed and it will be regarded as a regular trope page after being moved to the Main namespace. THIS SHOULD BE WORKING NOW, REPORT ANY ISSUES TO Janna2000, SelfCloak or RRabbit42. DON'T MAKE PAGES MANUALLY UNLESS A TEMPLATE IS BROKEN, AND REPORT IT THAT IS THE CASE. PAGES WILL BE DELETED OTHERWISE IF THEY ARE MISSING BASIC MARKUP.
Award Snub: He is one of the biggest names never to have won the highly coveted "Entertain of the Year" award.
Covered Up: Subverted with "I Told You So". Carrie Underwood covered the song, but while it was climbing, it got re-released as a duet with him.
Played straight with "It's Just a Matter of Time". The song had already been a big pop hit for Brook Benton, a #1 country hit for Sonny James and a #7 country hit for Glen Campbell.
Also "What'll You Do About Me", an album cut from Always & Forever. Steve Earle, The Forester Sisters and Doug Supernaw all charted with their own versions of the song, with Supernaw's being the most successful; even so, the song is still associated mainly with Travis.
Crowning Music of Awesome: His 1986 debut album (under the name Randy Travis, at least), Storms of Life, is widely celebrated as one of the greatest and most influential albums in country music history, the success of which is credited with being a driving force behind the brief revival of traditional country music in the mainstream.
Funny Aneurysm Moment: "Forever And Ever, Amen" may be considered this now that he and and wife divorced.
Seinfeld Is Unfunny: He was among the first generation of 1980s acts who returned the genre to a more traditional sound following the pop-influenced "urban cowboy" country movement. Other artists soon followed in his footsteps, including the "class of '89" acts such as Clint Black and Alan Jackson who would later overshadow him and, as a result, obfuscate how much of a pioneer he was. With pop influences being a Cyclic Trope, he found himself once again out of mode come the late 1990s-early 2000s.
Special Effects Failure: The music video for "Before You Kill Us All", which has Randy against an animated background, has really bad chroma-key.
