Tropedia

  • Before making a single edit, Tropedia EXPECTS our site policy and manual of style to be followed. Failure to do so may result in deletion of contributions and blocks of users who refuse to learn to do so. Our policies can be reviewed here.
  • All images MUST now have proper attribution, those who neglect to assign at least the "fair use" licensing to an image may have it deleted. All new pages should use the preloadable templates feature on the edit page to add the appropriate basic page markup. Pages that don't do this will be subject to deletion, with or without explanation.
  • All new trope pages will be made with the "Trope Workshop" found on the "Troper Tools" menu and worked on until they have at least three examples. The Trope workshop specific templates can then be removed and it will be regarded as a regular trope page after being moved to the Main namespace. THIS SHOULD BE WORKING NOW, REPORT ANY ISSUES TO Janna2000, SelfCloak or RRabbit42. DON'T MAKE PAGES MANUALLY UNLESS A TEMPLATE IS BROKEN, AND REPORT IT THAT IS THE CASE. PAGES WILL BE DELETED OTHERWISE IF THEY ARE MISSING BASIC MARKUP.

Basic Trope: An often wealthy female character who is admired and respected by everyone

  • Straight: Alice is surrounded by admirers who fawn over her constantly. She is given preferential treatment wherever she goes and commands a position of influence if not actual authority.
  • Exaggerated: Alice is treated as the queen of the world and people fall to their faces as she walks past.
  • Justified: Alice comes from a very wealthy family and is a charming, beautiful woman in her own right.
  • Inverted: Alice is a social outcast who people can barely stand to be around.
  • Subverted: Alice comes from a very wealthy and important family, but everyone looks down on her as an Upperclass Twit and no one takes her seriously...
  • Double Subverted: ...when she isn't around, at least. To her face everyone else bows and fawns as apporiate because her daddy would be mad otherwise.
  • Parodied: Bob and Charlie go to increasingly ridiculous lengths to show their respect to Alice.
  • Deconstructed: Alice is confused by her unearned admiration. When others praise her for things she has no control over, she can no longer tell when she's receiving justified praise and begins to develop deep insecurities.
  • Reconstructed: Alice learns not to surround herself with yes men, and also makes good use of her natural leadership abilities.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob practically worships Alice, but Charlie can't stand her, and Dave is ambivalent.
  • Averted: Alice is not particularly rich and admired.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: "I'm so lucky people love me for me, even though I do have money."
  • Invoked: Alice's parents promote a sweet and ladylike public image in an attempt to reach a Hundred-Percent Adoration Rating.
  • Exploited: Alice's father names her head of his company, knowing she will inspire confidence in the stockholders.
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
