  • Before making a single edit, Tropedia EXPECTS our site policy and manual of style to be followed. Failure to do so may result in deletion of contributions and blocks of users who refuse to learn to do so. Our policies can be reviewed here.
  • All images MUST now have proper attribution, those who neglect to assign at least the "fair use" licensing to an image may have it deleted. All new pages should use the preloadable templates feature on the edit page to add the appropriate basic page markup. Pages that don't do this will be subject to deletion, with or without explanation.
  • All new trope pages will be made with the "Trope Workshop" found on the "Troper Tools" menu and worked on until they have at least three examples. The Trope workshop specific templates can then be removed and it will be regarded as a regular trope page after being moved to the Main namespace. THIS SHOULD BE WORKING NOW, REPORT ANY ISSUES TO Janna2000, SelfCloak or RRabbit42. DON'T MAKE PAGES MANUALLY UNLESS A TEMPLATE IS BROKEN, AND REPORT IT THAT IS THE CASE. PAGES WILL BE DELETED OTHERWISE IF THEY ARE MISSING BASIC MARKUP.

For a children's show, My Parents Are Aliens has lots of examples of Getting Crap Past the Radar, besides the two-part episode, "Beauty and the Breast" and the episode where Brian uses a voice synthesizer.

Note: Most of the examples are from UndergroundReality[[1]].

Examples

  • Here's a line from the first episode, Nobody's Perfect;
Cquote1

Mr Coleman: "Is there some kind of problem?"
Mel: "Boys, pregnancy, drugs, eating disorders, shop-lifting. Take your pick, I quite like the one about the drugs."

Cquote2
  • Also in that same episode, there's a clip at the end where Mel strangles Lucy, even though you can hear her screaming, this serves as Nightmare Fuel for some people. That scene, however was removed when the episode was broadcast later.
  • In the episode, The Opposites, Josh ends up in an alternate reality where everything is the opposite but a bad opposite where Sophie (who in the normal version tries her best to be a good mother) laze's around, drinks, doesn't care about the well being of them or barely pay any attention to their existence, and doesn't care about their feelings.
Cquote1

Sophie: "That's. what. it. says, you noodle-brain simpleton."
Josh: "What?"
Sophie mimicking Josh: "Whhaaaat"
Josh: "No, it's just not something you'd expect from someone who want's to be a good mother"
Sophie: "Oh really, well up yours an' all you stuck up self righteous little brat"

Cquote2
  • There has been countless scenes of Brian chatting up Josh's friends, to even kissing Pete in one scene, this exchange from the Series 4 episode, Operation Date is no exception;
Cquote1

Pete: "Have you had burglars?"
Brian: No, Pete. I have all the creature comforts up in my apartment upstairs, care to look?
Frankie: This I got to see.
Brian: NO, Just Pete! (This is followed by Frankie glaring at Pete)

Cquote2
  • In the episode, Prêt A Brian, Brain becomes a clothes designer and replaces all the children's clothes with obscene outfits such as clothes being made from beaded curtains, Shortly after, they express their discomfort and tell him that sometimes less is more, however this makes him go to the extreme and removes everybody's clothes leaving them all naked and resorting to wearing bin-bags. Also, Josh uses the clothes made from beaded curtains as a chat-up-line, which is a sexual innuendo:
Cquote1

Tanya: "Josh you're wearing curtains"
Josh: "Feel free to pull me at any time"

Cquote2
  • In the episode, Fangs For The Mammaries, Sophie becomes influenced by celebrities saying how they have big breasts so she takes part in the celebrity culture by changing her breast size way out of proportion saying how her bra was made by the space shuttle crafts parachutes, this episode is slightly perverted as pretty much every male character can't stop staring at her overly sized breasts as she uses them to influence other people and make them do what she tells them to do.
  • Speaking of breasts, Here's an exchange from the Season 7 finale, Thanks For All The Earthworm Custard;
Cquote1

Pete: "Why did I want to by this cruddy old calculator?"
Josh: (whispers) "If you type in 80085, it spells boobs."

Cquote2
  • In the Series 5 episode, Burglars Can't Be Choosers; After Mr. Whiteside finds Josh and his two friends, Frankie and Pete playing computer games in the toilet, Josh says they were smoking, Mr. Whiteside asks him where the smoke is, Josh asks him for a light, Mr. Whiteside confiscates Josh's game and he gives the three boys two detentions each, one for playing computer games and the other for smoking.
  • Brian's Ark has some very good examples of Getting Crap Past the Radar from locking animals in cages to giving the dog cans of lager.
  • There have been episodes featuring Brian wearing a skirt and saying how it feels right. Notably the episode, Skirting the Issue.
