So, how is the Orain site compared to this one? I have plenty of experience with Wikia, and in some ways Wikia IS better than the 'Pmwiki' the original TV Tropes site has been using for most of its existence. But I haven't even heard of Orain until recently.
Well, Orain has an updated MediaWiki (but we don't have the VisualEditor there), and the Orain fork is somewhat more updated than this one.
Orain uses the stock version of MediaWiki, wheras Wikia uses a heavily modified version, but most of the basics under the hood are the same for both aside from the versions, though we use a refined template module based on Lua on the Orain fork (I tried porting it here, but it doesn't work very well, so the templates use stock template code here)
This is the Wikia branch of ATT, Orain is our other branch, and both are under the same flag (owned and operated by yours truly) and community, and can share content between each other with proper attribution.
The only major difference is Wikia Staff handles the behind the scenes technical upkeep for this branch, and Orain Staff does the same for theirs (I'm an Orain Staff member as well).
This page seems to be a good spinoff of the original TV Tropes page (and of course, as people on TV Tropes point out, the name 'TV Tropes' was an Artifact Title anyway as it deals with tropes from ALL mediums and not just television. So even though the name 'TV Tropes' has Added Alliterative Appeal, the name of this wiki is a bit more accurate).
But I've just got here, so I'll see how good the navigation is when compared to the original.
My first edit was of course updating the Jurassic Park entry in 'Torch the Franchise and Run'. It referred to the fourth Jurassic Park film as 'in production'. The film, called Jurassic World, has now been released.
