You can definitely see in his face he got the girl where he wants it.

For every main girl character, there will usually be a boy in her Three Amigos friendship, or a little brother who doesn't give a dang about her, Or, in some cases, the main character is a boy, but is a child. But wait! The little brother/best friend/little male protagonist has a big crush on either the friend's BFF, the girl of the episode, or a recurring girl character. Said boy would end up having a big crush on the girl until something causes it to end, or if kept, this would be at least Played for Laughs.

This mostly happens in most Preteen shows where the main character is, you guessed it, a girl. only happens when her boy best friend is younger like her, the boy is a child and is the main title character, or if the lead is a teen girl, her little brother. For the girl's part, she would be at least Oblivious to Love to the little boy.

Mostly Precocious Crush meets someone who like older women, but the girl's age never goes higher than 25. Might go as far as Stalker with a Crush.

And no, it has nothing to do with Tiny Guy, Huge Girl or Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy (which inspired the trope's original title).

Examples of Little Boy Seeks Big Girl include:

Anime and Manga[]

  • In Axis Powers Hetalia, Romano used to have a crush on Belgium while he was living in Spain's house.
  • In Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, 12-year old Sasshi is this way toward fanservice girl Mune-Mune; which is ironic considering she's really his grandmother, who looks perpetually like her 19-year old self, thanks to a time paradox!
  • Naota develops a crush on Haruko in FLCL. It's implied that he's around 12 years old, and she's 21.

Film[]

  • Anakin and Padme in The Phantom Menace. He's 9, she's 14.
  • Crazy Stupid Love: Robbie has a longstanding crush on Jessica, his babysitter. He's in middle school (so about 12) and she's about 17.
  • Done in an inadvertently disturbing manner in Blank Check. The main character tricks an adult bank teller into going on a date with him and later, she even kisses him on the lips after agreeing to wait a few years.

Literature[]

Live Action TV[]

  • Hannah Montana: The first episode of Season 2 has Rico crushing on Miley, even going so far to manipulate her into doing it with him because he knew Miley was scared that "He knows her secret and will spill it out" (she thought that the "secret" was being Hannah Montana). In the end, turns out that the secret was She still has her teddy bear with her, despite being in high school.
  • Lizzie McGuire: The episode "Working Girl" had this in effect when Matt was depressed, then Miranda gave him advice, and then he starts falling for her. This went as far as asking her on a date.
  • ANT Farm has Fletcher immediately liking Paisley whenever the latter notices him. Examples are in the episodes "TransplANTed" (as shown in the picture above) and "ManagemANT", but luckily, Chyna doesn't seem to mind. Doubles as a "just for his adorableness" Shotacon in Paisley's part.
  • ICarly had this temporarily in the episode "iHave a Lovesick Teacher" where Freddie is struck with a bit of a crush on their teacher when she came in red for Spencer's date with her.
  • The Suite Life of Zack and Cody has this with Zack over Maddie throughout the show. By On Deck, he got his kiss from her. One of the most memorable moments is in the episode "A Prom Story" where they shared a prom dance.
    • Also from On Deck, the 8-year old prince of Liechtenstein crushing on Maddie. He even was near to marrying her, too!
  • Shake It Up had this in one episode's B-plot, where Ty is teaching Flynn how to attract the girl he likes. The said girl is older than him and is portrayed by the same actress who plays Paisley in the A.N.T. Farm example above (Allie DeBerry).
  • On House, a young boy's overly aggressive pursuit of his crush on Cameron is yet another datum for the Case of the Week.
  • Luke is this to Jessie... sometimes.
  • In the first episode of Modern Family, 10-year old Manny writes a love poem to a 17-year old girl.
  • British satire show "Big City" (a satire of american preteen shows) features Liam Youngs, an 8 year old kid who has a huge crush on his older sister's friend, Mia Sanders who's 16. In one episode, Liam tricks Mia into going on a date with him.
  • The teenage Brad on Home Improvement has the hots for the "Tool Time" girl Heidi, who's an adult. Even after she gets married and has a kid, he never quite stops being smitten with her, even hitting on her in the series finale.

Web Comics[]

  • The next-door neighbor's son in the webcomic Out at Home has a crush on Katie's best friend. He's 10; she's 17.

Western Animation[]

  • The Hey Arnold episode "Crush on Teacher". Not to mention Arnold's like for Ruth, a sixth-grader, until he ended it because he and Ruth are different.
    • And alongside Arnold, Gerald had one, too, in "Sixth Grade Girls".
  • My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic has Spike, who is sort of like an adopted son to Twilight Sparkle, in her social circle as a result of being her only friend before going with her to Ponyville to encourage her to make some more friends, and has a major crush on Rarity, who is in said social circle.
  • The Simpsons: Bart Simpson had a one-episode crush on his baby sitter.
  • In Adventure Time, 13-year old Finn has a crush on 18-year old Princess Bubblegum.
  • Ferb from Phineas and Ferb, given the Vague Age of being "under 15", has a crush on the Mad Scientist's Beautiful Daughter, Vanessa. Word of God says they'll go on a date at least once when they're older.
  • Dexter's Laboratory: Dexter has a crush on his teenage baby sitter.
  • In one Family Guy episode, Stewie has a crush on his teen/young adult baby sitter.
