Lindsay Dee Lohan (born July 2 1986) is an American model and occasional pop singer and actress, who is largely known for the downward spiral her career engaged in after being anointed one of the rising stars of the '00s.

A former child model, Lohan rose to fame when she switched over to acting and landed several major film roles, most notably the Disney remakes of The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday, as well as the decidedly un-Disney, Tina Fey-penned 2004 film Mean Girls.

Like most young, beautiful actresses, Lohan was anointed by the media as the "next big thing". Unfortunately, this backfired on her, as Lindsay began partying, using drugs, getting into trouble with the law, and acquiring a reputation throughout Hollywood for being a diva who showed up to the set late and hung over. Making matters worse was Lohan's disintegrating home life. Her father was an alcoholic Jerkass, who verbally and emotionally abused her on many occasions, the highlight being when he sent police over to her home for no reason and tried to justify it by claiming he was only doing it to "check up on her." Her mother, meanwhile, was a controlling, drug-addicted Stage Mom, who sought to exploit her daughter's fame and fortune to live the good life. Virtually overnight, Lohan was denounced by the tabloids and media en masse. Her films started tanking at the box office, and her partying began to alienate Hollywood big shots who found her to be an unreliable worker. A rather high profile, briefly successful attempt to launch a career as a pop star only further stained her reputation. Several DUI arrests and trips to rehab finally stalled her career.

Her attempt to relaunch her career on TV with a lengthy guest stint on Ugly Betty backfired, and she was fired (or quit, depending on who you ask) shortly after her character was introduced. Save for a minor role in Robert Rodriguez's Machete, the Direct to Video Labor Pains, and the as-of-now unreleased "Underground Comedy Movie 2010", she hasn't acted in a movie since 2007. Ironically, she was offered the role that eventually went to Heather Graham in the 2009 film The Hangover, but turned it down, not knowing how successful that movie would turn out (though she did later mention that she didn't regret turning down the film despite its huge success).

She is bisexual (maybe; she doesn't want to classify herself), though she prefers not to talk about her sexual orientation to reporters. She has been in relationships with Wilmer Valderrama and Samantha Ronson, though her father did not approve of Samantha because she is a woman (and because he belived her to be a bad influence on Lindsay).

Lindsay is a Marilyn Monroe fangirl, and has recreated some of her famous poses and even has quotes from her tatooed on her arms. Which she has recently removed after finding out that Marilyn Monroe was bipolar and deciding that she doesn't want to have that kind of negative influence in her life.

She was recently cast to play Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime BioPic

Filmography

Discography:

    • Speak (2004)
    • A Little More Personal (Raw) (2005)
    • Spirit In The Dark (TBA)

Provides examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Her father physically abused her mother several years ago, and then threatened her along with her brother and sisters, nowadays her father is committing Financial Abuse by exploiting her image at seemingly every opportunity.
    • Her mother is also guilty of parental neglect, as back in 2003 she reportedly received several phone calls from police who believed that Lindsay was drinking despite being underage at the time, but her mom never responded to any of the calls.
    • My Innocence, Confessions of a Broken Heart are about this situation.
  • Acting for Two: The Parent Trap and I Know Who Killed Me
  • Adam Westing: Aren't there too many films out there that at least seem to play on Lindsay's imperfections?
  • Break Up Song: If It's Alright, Over, If You Were Me, Black Hole,
  • Ambiguously Gay / Bi the Way: Is she bisexual? She dated another woman for a while, but she refuses to classify her sexuality.
  • Bi the Way: Whether her relationship with Samantha Ronson was this or If It's You It's Okay is debated.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Her father most definitely as this video shows.
  • Cool Car: She was given a 2010 Onyx Ranger Rover by GI Motors for FREE! Only 300 of those things were ever made.
  • Cover Version: "I Want You to Want Me" and "Edge of Seventeen" on her second record.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Disney thought that Lindsay's rack in the Herbie Fully Loaded remake would pose too much of a distraction for the audience of a family-friendly movie and decided to edit her breasts to appear smaller.
  • Development Hell: Despite an actual want for her third album-"Spirit In The Dark" to come out. It has not come out. In development since 08. Considering the healing power of music. This is rather unhealthy...
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Even those who hate her find themselves agreeing with some of her views, especially in her BBC documentary.
  • Fiery Redhead
  • Financial Abuse: Her parents never seem to pass up an opportunity to exploit her image for money.
  • Former Child Star: Remember when she was a preteen and starred as twins in The Parent Trap?
  • Follow Your Heart La Bella Vita, Fastlane, Disconnected, I Live For The Day, Anything But Me
  • Freudian Excuse: It's widely believed that Lindsay's out-of-control behavior was the result of a poor-upbringing by her Stage Mom parents, according to one report-her father allegedly blackmailed her into acting when she was little, by beating her mother in front of her and threatening to harm her more unless she worked every day.
  • Godiva Hair: She sports this in a memorable scene in Machete.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Invoked in "First"
  • Hidden Depths: Did a documentary on sex-trafficking and child labor in India.
  • Hollywood Hype Machine: A major victim of its nasty end. While the magazines allied with Hollywood at first to make her a star, she soon fell victim to the "It-Girl Curse" and faltered badly, taking the worse end of the tabloids on her way down.
  • Love Nostalgia Song: "Something I Never Had", "Black Hole"
  • Pretty in Mink: Has worn lots of furs.
  • Rockstar Song: Fastlane, A Beautiful Life (La Bella Vita) and Rumours are examples of this trope.
  • Sanity Slippage Song: "Fastlane", "A Beautiful Life(La Bella Vita)", "Anything But Me", "Disconnected", "I Live For The Day" and there are probably more...
  • Self-Deprecation: She has no problem making fun of her "crazy party girl" image, as seen on her recent Saturday Night Live episode in which she played a jailbird version of herself in the "Scared Straight" recurring sketch (she even mentions the movies she was in and her arrest for stealing a diamond necklace).
  • Stage Mom: Her mother Dina is one of the more notorious modern examples.
  • Silly Love Songs: Who Loves You, Very Last Moment In Time,Symptoms of You,
  • Take That: My Innocence is this to her own father.
  • The Rival: Back in the day when she was more known for her work ethic instead of her partying...HilaryDuff
  • Youthful Freckles
  • Your Cheating Heart: "If You Were Me", "Something I Never Had"
