KissxSis 3142

Keita has two step-sisters (otherwise unrelated to him) who are in love-lust with him and unashamed of showing it. They even enjoy competing for his affections, much to the amusement of their parents and mutual friends.

One day, Ako and Riko (mistakenly translated as Aka and Rika by certain sources) show up at his school to give him lunch, which is the last straw -- he explodes, prompting them both to vocally and publicly confess their love to him to try to calm him down.

This causes the Subtext of their relationship to become text. Now Keita has to choose between his stepsisters.

A manga series by Bow Ditama, manga artist of Mahoromatic and Fight Ippatsu! Juuden-chan!!. It is infinitely more "adult" than the first series, however.

Kiss×sis has been adapted into both a series of OVAs and a TV series by studio Feel and N/S, KP, TX 2008. The TV series aired in the spring of 2010 and is a more "tame" version than the OVA, which follows the manga more than the TV series.

This series features examples of:

  • Accidental Pervert: Miharu Mikuni, the only girl in the series with no intentions of coming onto Keita, usually ends up in compromising positions with him anyway. (By episode five he's had his face up her skirt, fondled her breasts, gotten peed on by her, and had an encounter with her Country Matters, all accidentally.)
  • Actor Allusion: Within the first three minutes of episode six, Ako has gained Girlish Pigtails, a pair of cat ears, the name "Ako-nyan" and looked at a suspiciously familiar red (Mustang?) guitar. Much like another of Ayana Taketatsu's roles.
  • A Date with Rosie Palms:
    • Ako and Riko engage in this outright a few times, and implied at others. Like the time they find what they think is Keita's Porn Stash about threesomes, and decide to practice by rolling his bedding up, a strategically placed pen, a teddy bear, and lots of rubbing. Together.
    • Keita's female classmate, Mikuni, also engages in this, to thoughts of Keita forcing himself on her.
    • Ako's and Riko's teacher does this while wearing Keita's gym outfit, long story. She also thinks about how much she does it while thinking of Keita being raped by shoguns...
    • Both Keita and his homeroom teacher Kiryuu Yuuzuki entertain the same idea as what to have for dessert.
    • Taken to a extreme in Episode 9 of the TV series, where the episode had to be censored. [[spoiler: Due to the fact that Riko and Keita had a mutual footjob session - with their clothes on, and Censor Steam in the form of ducks covering up most of the action. Mark, I said "most" - you can tell what's happening. Some actual Censor Steam later in the episode as well - unusual for this series]]
  • Artificial Riverbank: In the flashback about the two dogs.
  • Artistic License Biology: After an hour of learning followed by shopping, Keita claims he can't concentrate because he's low on salt, blaming his excessive sweating. Ako corrects him, saying it's sugar that's required, which he just consumed in the form of ice cream. First of all: it's both. Next: Eating ice cream doesn't suddenly increase the blood sugar level or the amount of ATP, so Ako's rebuttal is invalid. Third of all: sweating doesn't make you dumber.
    • Consider the characters. Keita isn't exactly a Mensa member, so when Ako bullshits in rebuttal to his lame excuse, he has nothing to counter it.
  • Balanced Harem: Mostly between the two twins, the other harem members are played as minor characters.
    • As the manga has gone on, Kiryuu-sensei has moved up to come close to equal with Ako and Riko, sharply rearranging the balance. In chapter 54, Keita rather enthusiastically misinterprets her request for a kiss as a request to sleep together, jumping for the opportunity after usually shying away from it with his step-sisters for so long. Too bad for him it embarrasses her so much she shuts her door in his face. As her sister puts it...
Cquote1

Mikazuki: Keita-senpai lives with the temptations of Akoriko-senpai; they even kiss on a daily basis. But despite that, he managed to keep his virginity, you know? But with you, even if it was a misunderstanding, it only took a single word from you to break his resolve!

Cquote2
  • Barbie Doll Anatomy: The girls' nipples are apparently there, but they must be really small and hard to see. This, for example. Also Lampshaded when the girls get into the baths together and realize that most of them have little to no pubic hair. (The twins' deficiency was pointed out earlier, but the Kiryuu sisters have none at all.)
    • Oddly enough, despite this trope, there is still the occasional Scenery Censor.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Do not insult Keita's big sisters.
    • Vice versa is also more or less the same. Kiryuu-sensei makes a huge mistake on the last panel here, and it results in this.
  • Blind Without'Em: Miharu Mikuni.
  • Blue with Shock:
    • Episode 6 of the TV series. Kiryuu-sensei is found inside an adult game shop by the Suminoe siblings. Keita sees what she's buying. Cue Blue with Shock from BOTH characters.
    • The series is particularly fond of this trope though, that's just one of the most egregious and outstanding examples.
  • Blush Sticker: Sometimes, more often the Luminescent Blush instead.
  • Butt Monkey: Keita's female classmate again. Lampshaded here.
  • Can't Hold Their Liquor: Keita gets really horny and loses all his inhibitions, while Riko just passes out. Ako exploits this a couple times, with varying degrees of success.
  • Censor Steam: The TV series doesn't have much at first, but later episodes have large censor ducks blocking out risqué regions of the image.
  • Chick Magnet: Keita.
  • Contrived Coincidence: Keita accidentally sees every female around him naked and/or gropes them more often than any guy his age has a right to. And that's not even counting when they do it to him on purpose.
  • Cosplay Otaku Girl: Yuuzuki Kiryuu. Going to great lengths to hide it.
  • Covert Pervert: Yuuzuki Kiryuu, Keita's teacher. Bonus points for acting like a Moral Watchdog.
  • Dancing Theme: The TV series ending
  • Different As Night and Day: Ako and Riko look alike and share their mad love for Keita. That's where the similarities end.
  • Dirty Old Man: Keita's father
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Keita sprays yogurt all over Riko's face, and she licks it up.
  • Dude, She's Like, in a Coma: In chapter 16 of the manga, Ako gets Keita and Riko drunk so she can have her way with Keita and Riko won't do anything to stop her.
  • Ecchi: Panty Shot, Erotic Eating and lots of Stripperiffic clothing being the least ecchi things in this series. Also, No Hugging, No Kissing is averted at least Once an Episode.
  • Erotic Eating:
    • Riko on a piece of phallic candy from a fertility shrine.
    • Mikazuki in the third episode of the anime offering Keita a chocolate-covered banana, then showing him how to "eat" it.
  • Face Fault: Keita, after both of his sisters complain to him about needing to go to the bathroom.
  • Failure Is the Only Option: Keita getting laid seems like this. Despite the fact that every girl in the comic wants to do him, every time he gets close something interrupts - usually one of the other girls.
  • Fan Service
  • Festival Episode: episode 8, featuring a cute little bird fond of jumping inside girls' clothes, and another Potty Emergency on the part of Miharu.
  • First Kiss - at a tender young age for Keita and the twins.
  • First-Name Basis - Kiryuu makes a permanent switch to calling Keita by first name after accidentally falling on top of him naked and refusing to budge. Keita immediately picks up on this despite more pressing matters, as do the others later on.
  • Flipping the Bird: Keita does this to his schoolmates after his sisters' confessions, while explaining the non-wrongness of the situation.
  • Flirty Stepsiblings: The whole premise.
  • Foot Focus/Footsie Under the Table: A playful kicking battle underneath a Kotatsu between Riko and Keita ends abruptly when Keita connects with a sensitive spot. This led to a lengthy scene in which the pair use their feet for more erotic purposes, continuing even when Ako entered the room. Needless to say, when Ako realized what was going on beneath the table she was less than amused.
  • Furo Scene: Keita gets in the bath. His sisters follow, Riko naked and Ako in a School Swimsuit. After some discussion about various Ecchi topics, Keita resolves to get out while he can, only to slip and end up with his mouth against Ako's crotch, and his hand against Riko's...crotch. A Nosebleed ensues.
  • Gainaxing: Miharu, the Meganekko Butt Monkey.
  • Genre Savvy: Keita, when his sisters point out that "they're the only ones home tonight", padlocks his door against unwanted intrusions. It still didn't work out as Ako and Riko manage to sneak in anyway. And too many other occasions to count. It never helps.
  • Ghost Lights: Fairly frequently. Lampshaded by Riko.
  • Gratuitous English: In one TV episode, Riko schemes to get some alone time with Keita. So she erects a barrier on the stairs to keep Ako away, complete with yellow police tape emblazoned with "KIIP OUT". Ako, who apparently does pretty well in English class, notes that the signs are spelled wrong.
  • Hot for Student: Kiryuu Yuuzuki.
  • Hot Teacher: Also Kiryuu Yuuzuki.
  • I Didn't Mean To Give You An Orgasm - Keita carrying Mikuni to the nurse's office, with her bra snapping at the very beginning.
  • Imagine Spot: Hilariously lampshaded by Riko whenever Ako starts daydreaming... especially when it involves Keita. Of course, them being twins...
    • Used straight several times with Miharu, often foreshadowing things to come.
  • In-Series Nickname: Mikazuki tends to refer to Ako and Riko together as "Akoriko-sempai". Doubles as a non-romantic Portmanteau Couple Name.
  • Jade-Colored Glasses: Keita - as seen through a flashback - donned these early, because he wound up figuring out that he couldn't marry both his sisters at once (the fact his father tried to explain it to kid Keita by calling it polygamy didn't help), which is why he's the Deadpan Snarker of the present time.
  • Kamehame Hadoken: Keita, in an Imagine Spot, trying to dispel his lust. He ends up imagining groping that poor, unfortunate classmate of his. Well, more than just imagining it... (in the anime, anyway)
  • Karaoke Box: The setting for all of the third OVA.
  • Konami Code: In the fourth OVA.
  • Large Ham: Ako, Riko, and Keita's father.
  • Lethal Chef: Riko's cooking is represented with the imagery of death itself.
  • Lover Tug of War: In the third OVA opening.
  • Love Dodecahedron
  • Lucky Bastard: Some would think Keita has this, him on the other hand... not so much
  • Luminescent Blush: All the time, unsurprisingly in a series like this.
  • Meganekko: Miharu, the Hot Librarian with Big Bouncy Breasts.
  • Moment Killer: Oh yeah. Lots.
    • Happens so often it's Lampshaded in chapter 39. When Ako and Keita are alone and it looks like they're finally going to get it on, both of them look around, expecting to be interrupted. Instead, Ako gets a nosebleed.
  • Naked Apron: Ako. She made sure to pull it off at a time when no one else but Keita would be at home with her too.
  • No Hugging, No Kissing: Averted in about every chapter at least once, often multiple times.
  • Nosebleed: The shenanigans during the Furo Scene eventually get past Keita's guard.
    • Not just there. Nosebleeds happen from time to time for several characters.
  • Not Blood Siblings: This trope basically summarizes the entire series. Keita also explains it in these terms a few times to people calling their relationship incest or his sisters perverts. Their father even encourages them on this basis.
  • Not So Above It All: Keita sure likes to tell himself that he shouldn't be fooling around with his step-sisters and constantly yells at them to quit flirting with him. Doesn't stop him from doing it anyway.
  • Older Than They Look: Despite looking about 5 years younger then their brother, Ako and Riko are actually older then him.
  • Open Minded Parents: Both their mother and their father are creepily supportive of the idea that their children might have sex with each other. Or anyone else, really.
  • Otaku: Kiryuu Yuzuki, with a pinch of fujoshi.
  • Panty Shot: All the time, both to Keita and the audience. The OVAs even use a few frames of Panty Shot (from Riko) as a standard scene transition.
  • Panty Thief: Both sisters.
  • Pointless Band-Aid: Riko. not so Pointless as of Chapter 50
  • Potty Emergency: Miharu has one just about every time Keita is around.
    • In an early chapter, they're trapped in a locker together until she loses control. In the anime version of that incident in episode five, they escape from the situation only to quickly become trapped in a storage shed, where she suffers the same Potty Failure... on Keita's head.
    • Then in episode eight, Miharu spends most of the episode searching in vain for a bathroom and is finally forced to relieve herself in a clearing in the woods, when Keita stumbles by just in time to watch. Accompanied by fireworks, in slow motion. For almost a minute straight.
    • And in chapter 43 she's forced into a Test of Courage with Keita, only to realize she drank a little too much juice earlier. When they reach the abandoned lighthouse, which has a fairly lame ghost story about a drowned girl who drags people into the sea by the legs, Keita falls in the water and accidentally grabs Miharu's ankles, with predictable results.
  • Raging Stiffie: Every time Keita gets into a compromising position with one of the girls, which is about every chapter. For some reason, the girls keep being surprised by it. Tip on male physiology, ladies: when you lie on top of us/rub rhythmically against us/show us your naughty bits, we're going to get aroused. It happens. We can't help it.
  • Rape As Comedy: "Your ass is mine! Rape time." Just try to take it seriously and send me the video of yourself cracking up.
    • Also, "To rape or not to rape, that is the question."
  • Rape As Comedy/Double Standard Rape (Female on Male): The series opens with Ako kissing Keita when she figures out he can't move. Then Riko wakes up to kiss him. Then she notices his morning wood...
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Ako (Red) and Riko (Blue). The former is more extroverted and prone to emotional outbursts while the latter is more introverted and soft-spoken.
  • Remix Comic: The Lemon inc. translation is simply genius. The bare plot along with any necessary dialogue is kept relatively in tact. Anything else is gutted and replaced with hilariously stupid dialogue and Lampshades.
  • Sensei-chan: Kiryuu-sensei.
  • Sexy Santa Dress: Gratuitous Panty Shots galore.
  • Shout-Out: Fight Ippatsu! Juuden-chan!! appears in episode five, since both are by the same creator.
  • Sibling Triangle --> Triang Relations
  • Sleep Cute: Chapter 14 of the manga has Ako and Riko asleep together and Keita musing that they're really cute like this. See here.
  • Sneezing: In episode 5, while Keita's sisters speculate on what sort of compromising situation he might have gotten himself into, Miharu sneezes.
  • Spider Sense: Both Ako and Riko seem to be able to sense when the other is about to have a moment with Keita.
  • Spit Take: Keita's reaction to Ako casually telling their mom she kissed him that morning, among other things.
  • Subtext
  • Super-Deformed: Ako and Riko go into Chibi mode as Keita tosses them out of his room.
  • Take a Third Option: Ako and Riko both want Keita to choose one of them, but there's nothing really stopping him from choosing the next trope...
  • Tenchi Solution: Subverted. Keita actually dreamed of this with both his sisters as a child, but gave up on that dream when he found out that polygamy is illegal.
    • Quite likely to end up played straight. Polygamy may be illegal, but living with two women isn't. You don't have to marry them to be with them.
  • The Internet Is for Porn: Why else would Ako and Riko spend a whole night awake?
    • Other than the obvious?
    • Somewhat subverted, as their computer's filter meant they couldn't access any porn, no matter how hard they tried.
  • Those Three Guys: Who are perennially jealous of the attention Keita gets from his sisters.
  • Through His Stomach: Ako tried this strategy in Chapter 60. She ruined it by having perverted thoughts during the meal time and voicing them.
  • Too Hot for TV
  • Twin Telepathy: Ako and Riko have a Spidey-sense-like intuition when the other is up to no good. They Lampshade it more than once when one is having a particularly Ecchi Imagine Spot and the other calls them out on it.
  • Twin Threesome Fantasy: Riko and Ako at one point decide that this is Keita's dream (and it probably is), so they practice for it. They enjoy it more than they're comfortable with.
  • Unlucky Everydude: Keita, who seems to have no luck with women until his step-sisters publicly declare their love for him, which causes every other woman in the area to start going after him. Including a teacher.
  • Unmoving Plaid: Averted, using 3D-animated skirts.
  • Unnamed Parent: Mr. and Mrs. Suminoe don't have given names. Mrs. Suminoe even says so in chapter 36.
  • Yaoi Fangirl: Kiryuu imagines Keita being...violated...by several Japanese generals... Not just imagines, she has masturbated to such thoughts...multiple times.
  • Zettai Ryouiki: Sported by Riko in episode nine.
