  • All images MUST now have proper attribution, those who neglect to assign at least the "fair use" licensing to an image may have it deleted. All new pages should use the preloadable templates feature on the edit page to add the appropriate basic page markup. Pages that don't do this will be subject to deletion, with or without explanation.
  • All new trope pages will be made with the "Trope Workshop" found on the "Troper Tools" menu and worked on until they have at least three examples. The Trope workshop specific templates can then be removed and it will be regarded as a regular trope page after being moved to the Main namespace. THIS SHOULD BE WORKING NOW, REPORT ANY ISSUES TO Janna2000, SelfCloak or RRabbit42. DON'T MAKE PAGES MANUALLY UNLESS A TEMPLATE IS BROKEN, AND REPORT IT THAT IS THE CASE. PAGES WILL BE DELETED OTHERWISE IF THEY ARE MISSING BASIC MARKUP.

  • Angst? What Angst?: This is a show about three little girls whose mother died tragically and unexpectedly shortly before the pilot. It’s a comedy.
    • However, when it does get brought up (and it does), you can be sure it's not going to be a funny part of the show.
  • Cliché Storm
  • Contractual Purity: How Bob Saget felt about his stint on this and his stint on America's Funniest Home Videos, both of which required him to act like a smiling, family-friendly milquetoast. He now claims, in his extremely profane standup act, "Those shows gave me Tourette's."
    • Hell, every actor on the show falls victim to this.
      • Lets just be grateful Bob was one of the few who didn't turn to hard drugs to recover from being in the show, the other being Candace Cameron.
  • Creator's Pet: Michelle, due to the explosive popularity of the Olsen twins. The writers wanted to give her more screen time but went completely overboard, basically turning Full House into The Michelle Show by the final few seasons. She also got away with more than she should, to the point where fans consider any moment where she does face consequences a Crowning Moment of Awesome from whoever disciplines her.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Rebecca was only supposed to be on the show for a few episodes, but she became popular and eventually married Jesse.
    • Also, Kimmy and Steve, the two best actors (and, coincidentally, least prone to Narm moments) on the series, were pretty popular as well.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: In a third-season episode, Stephanie tells Jesse she wants to be just like him when she grows up "except she'll wear dresses." Come the sequel series Fuller House, Stephanie is basically in the Uncle Jesse role right down to having a musical career.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Danny is shown videotaping Michelle quite frequently in the early seasons. America's Funniest Home Videos launched during season 3.
    • In "A Pox in Our House", Danny said Jesse's suit makes him look like he's spinning from a ceiling disco ball, which he does many seasons later in the grand opening of the Smash Club.
  • Ho Yay: Three guys living together raising kids in San Francisco... someone is bound to get ideas.
    • Joey's and Jesse's boss in the advertising business, for one. The two had quite the subtext during the early seasons of the show, especially the first one. Especially during a moment when Danny caught Jesse serenading Joey in the bathtub. Word of Saint Paul on the subject can be found here.
    • When Jesse and Rebecca got serious and later married, the show seemed to amp up the vibes between Joey and Danny. There's even a scene where Joey kisses Danny on the nose to reassure him, and Danny actually says he feels better after that.
    • There's also slight Les Yay between Kimmy and DJ. An early episode has DJ trying to ditch school because she and Kimmy were in different classes, and their first day of junior high has them devastated when they only have one class together.
  • Hype Backlash: This can arguably be applied to Michelle. Midway through the show's run she became the show's most popular character, with "Michelle" merchandise outselling all other show merchandise by a notable margin. This prompted the show's writers to give her a more prominent role in the series. However, they took it too far and older fans of the show started to hate her.
  • Large Ham: Danny is an in-universe example whenever he's on air. All three young girls were prone to this as well, as VOLUME IS POWER to them or something.
    • Stephanie gets special mention during the scene of the wedding episode where she reads Jesse's letter explaining his wanting to go skydiving before the wedding.
  • She Is All Grown Up:
    • DJ is the most popular example. Nearly everybody who has ever watched the show has commented on how she....developed nicely in the show's later seasons.
    • Stephanie also became many times more crushworthy as she hit puberty. More fitting to the trope, Jodie Sweetin has become very attractive as an adult.
  • Tastes Like Diabetes: An increasingly common criticism.
    • On an interesting note, any moment on a show that is overly sappy (even if the show itself is not normally) is called a "Full House Moment" outside of TV Tropes.
  • The Scrappy: Michelle. See Creator's Pet above.
    • Michelle's friends aren't too well-liked either, especially Aaron.
  • Too Good to Last: Maybe not in hindsight, maybe a lot of people felt the show ran its course, but Word of God basically said that it was being so popular back in the day that killed the show. Being that popular meant that the cast were being paid practically unheard-of salaries, and it was paying them so much that eventually led to the plug being pulled.
  • Unpopular Popular Character: While Kimmy herself is fairly popular (she was Promoted To Opening Titles after all), nearly everyone (save DJ) seem to only tolerate her. It's implied that not even her parents like her much.
  • WTH? Casting Agency:
    • John Stamos, who had gotten his start a few years earlier on General Hospital.
    • Bob Saget. People who has seen his stand-up routine would be shocked. His comedy style is rather vulgar. And, for those who only knew him for portraying Danny Tanner would also be shocked. Below is a few shocked comments from YouTube users.
Cquote1

"I will never watch Full House the same again"

"He... he actually knows those words?"

"My childhood is ruined."

Cquote2
      • He did say "hell" in one episode.
