The seventh game in the Fire Emblem series, the second one in the Elibe timeline, the first released in the West, and arguably the most popular of them all, Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade features a massive cast of heroes to cheer for, allies to make, Woobies to gush over, and villains to both understand and be revolted by.
Main characters[]
Lyndis "Lyn" Caelin[]
Daughter of Madelyn, princess of Caelin, and Hassan, chief of the nomadic Lorca tribe, Lyn grew up without a care in the world on the plains of her father's homeland, Sacae. All of that changed when her home was pillaged by a brutal group of bandits, the Taliver, who left fewer than ten people alive. Forced to survive on her own, Lyn's life changes for the better when she comes across a certain strategist, and before she knows it she is caught up in a game of war and political intrigue once she learns of her royal heritage. A life of ease as the last remaining heir of the aging Marquess of Caelin awaits her... if she can survive the ambitions of her Evil Uncle, Lord, Lundgren, that is!
- Action Girl
- BFS: The Sol Katti, her ultimate weapon.
- Bokukko
- But Not Too Foreign: Half-Lycian, half-Sacaean.
- Captain Obvious: Why yes, my dear girl, 1000 years is a very long time!
- The Chosen One: At least when it comes to sacred swords…
- Forced Tutorial: Her entire "claim her inheritance" quest was created out of wholecloth to explain the game to the Western market. Veteran Japanese fans were not amused.
- Fragile Speedster: Can end up as this, depending on how good the Random Number God is to you.
- The Hero (in her quest), The Lancer (in Eliwood's)
- Heroes Prefer Swords
- Heterosexual Life Partners: With Florina, if there's no romance involved.
- Hot Chick with a Sword
- Les Yay: With Florina.
- Proud Warrior Race Girl
- Rebellious Princess: Somewhat. She does make an effort to please the Caelin court but ultimately can't let go of her Sacaen instincts.
- Rescue Romance: If you pair her and Rath.
- Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Wants to massacre the malicious Taliver bandits in retribution for the deaths of her family and fellow tribespeople. In her A Support with Wallace, he reveals he's already done this so that she won't have to, and urges her to be happy they are dead, even if she didn't kill them personally.
- Slap Slap Kiss: Her relationship with Hector, which can evolve into romance if she has an A Support with him.
- Stoic Woobie: Refuses to cry even when she wants to.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: The Tomboy to Florina's Girly Girl.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Dark green hair.
Sain[]
The first and undeniably the oddest person Lyn meets on her journey, Sain is a gallant cavalier in service to House Caelin, full of "passion and fire," beloved of the populace who sends women swooning... or so he would have you believe. In reality, he amounts to little more than a skirt-chaser. Considered lazy and foolish by his comrades in Caelin's knights, Sain desperately wants to be a hero (mostly so he can get chicks), it’s just that he isn’t very good at it, at least at first.
- The Big Guy: Technically fills this role in Lyn's original group, as emphasised when they become a Five-Man Band after Lyn's story. Especially considering he doesn't always use his brain while fighting (and on a technical level, he's the highest of the cavalry units in attack strength).
- Blade on a Stick: It is, as we all know, the most heroic of all weapons.
- Butt Monkey: To the game engine itself. He spends a good slice of the tutorial screwing up, so that Kent can instruct the player on what not to do.
- Chivalrous Pervert
- Crazy Awesome
- Crowning Moment of Funny: A good percentage of his dialogue.
- Heterosexual Life Partners: With Kent. Many fans seem to miss the "heterosexual" part.
- Incoming Ham: Often heard before he's seen, followed by his chat head dashing into view.
- Knight in Shining Armor: He tries, bless him..
- Mr. Exposition: He and Kent know more than a little about Caelin politics.
- Large Ham
- Shoo Out the Clowns: Declines in importance as the game increases in seriousness, to the point that, as far as the plot is concerned, he's almost a non-entity following the Disc One Final Boss.
- Those Two Guys: With Kent, again.
- The Woobie: His supports with Rebecca and Priscilla give some insight into the psyche of a guy like him. It's not pretty.
Kent[]
San's associate, who evidently does the thinking for both of them, Kent is another of the knights sent by Caelin to retrieve Lyn. Kent has a good head on his shoulders and a fair knowledge of battle tactics, which he will gladly explain to you during the Forced Tutorial. He is totally devoted to Lyn's service, something that may simply be duty or may be, as Sain suspects, a sign of attraction.
- Bodyguard Crush: Well, Sain says so, at least.
- Fan-Preferred Couple: A good deal of people like to ship him with Lyn, though that's not to say Fiora doesn't have her supporters, either.
- The Generic Guy: Outside his support conversations at least, his main personality trait is essentially "not Sain."
- Heterosexual Life Partners: With Sain.
- Jack of All Stats: Not as strong as Sain, as accurate as Marcus, as sturdy as Lowen, or as fast as Isadora, but more balanced than all of them.
- The Lancer: He's technically Lyn's second, and will be the first to protest to some of Lyn's less rational decisions (though he goes along with them out of loyalty). A less Hot-Blooded example.
- Mr. Exposition: Through the fourth wall!
- The Stoic: To a fault. Sain once comments that Kent will age too quickly considering how much he worries.
Florina[]
A childhood friend of Lyn's from Ilia. The first Pegasus Knight to join the group, she pledges her support to Lyn due to their friendship. After helping her against Lundgren, she stays with Lyn until Nergal rises up.
- The Chick: In Lyn's group.
- Does Not Like Men: Seem rather intimidated by them, at first. Even the choice of the Tactician's gender will influence her dialogue with him/her.
- Heterosexual Life Partners: If she's not shipped with Lyn, then this is how their relationship is interpreted.
- Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: The 'tiny girl' half with Hector, if they are shipped.
- Les Yay: She is commonly shipped with Lyn.
- Love Interest: She may become one of Hector's, and is her second-most common ship.
- Shrinking Violet
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: Girly Girl to Lyn's Tomboy.
- Weapon of Choice
- Blade on a Stick: Default for Pegasi Knights.
- Hot Chick with a Sword: Upgraded to one upon becoming a Falcon Knight.
Wil[]
A young archer from Pherae, he left his village a few years ago to earn his fortune. Met Lyn in a squabble with some bandits in Bern, and after defeating them he joined her retinue - even coining the name 'Lyndis' Legions'. He's the childhood friend of Rebecca and her brother Dan, the latter of whom he left with before they were separated.
- The Archer
- My Greatest Failure: He's so ashamed of having left his family without warning and not even fulfilling his motivations for doing so, that he hasn't made contact with them in five years - even though he told Lyn he'd send word. Finally does so with some persuasion from Lyn, in their A Support.
- Nice Guy: One of the most stable and all-around 'normal' characters in the game. He's even implied to get along fairly well with Florina, even though they don't exactly fall on the right end of the Weapon's spectrum ...
- The Smart Guy: On occasion - he's not super-intelligent, but he's frequently seen as the voice of reason in Lyn's group.
- Victorious Childhood Friend: With Rebecca, if they get an A Support.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Rebecca calls him out for leaving his home behind and never making contact with her or his family. It works.
Dorcas[]
A quiet but kind man from Bern, who joins a band of brigands to make money for his Ill Girl wife, Natalie. Has a change of heart after meeting Lyn and joins her group. In Eliwood's story, he joins early on, still making money to help his wife.
- An Axe to Grind
- The Big Guy: In the early stages of both Lyn and Eliwood's stories.
- Gentle Giant
- Heel Face Turn
- Honour Before Reason: In his Supports with Farina, he insists on making enough money to pay her back for her charity, even those she's initially willing to let him be.
- Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: Implied, with his wife.
- I Will Protect Her: Builds his entire character around this trope.
- Nice Guy
- Papa Wolf: Is initially willing to do anything, no matter how bad, to help his wife. Lyn only snaps him out of it by persuading him that his wife would not forgive him for it. Even then, he declines an offer by Oswin to join Ostia's knights, stating that he fights only for his wife.
- Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: The Sensitive Guy to Bartre's Manly Man.
- Those Two Guys: Him and Bartre.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: At first - he almost became a Knight Templar over it.
Serra[]
A loud, seemingly obnoxious priestess in service to Ostia who hired Erk to be her escort. They met Lyn and joined her party after dealing with a band of bandits near the Bern border. She joins Eliwood's party by extension of joining Hector on his quest first. Although she seems intolerable on the outside, she has pains within that she hides from the world ...
- Jerkass Facade: In spades. When it finally breaks ...
- Parental Abandonment: It causes her a lot of angst and is the source her irritable personality.
- Rich Bitch: Acts like one, but it's a bit more complicated than that.
- The Scrappy: Had something of a Hatedom in the early years, though it has since calmed down.
- Rescued From the Scrappy Heap: For those who get certain supports, she becomes a much more likeable character once her past is revealed. Especially her supports with Hector, Oswin and Lucius...
- Tsundere: Particularly towards Erk and Matthew.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: The person whose approval she most desperately yearns is Oswin.
- White Mage
- The Woobie
Erk[]
A young studying mage, the only student of the Mage General of Etruria, Lord Pent. First appears as Serra's escort, helping Lyn's party thereafter. While escorting Priscilla, they end up stuck in Laus due to its corrupt Marquess being infatuated with his employer. He and Priscilla join Eliwood's party in exchange for their assistance, also hoping that it may help her in finding her missing family. He's often quite uptight, but mellows around people he's closer towards.
- Defrosting Ice Lord
- Fan-Preferred Couple: With Priscilla
- Parental Substitute: Pent and Louise are like his parents.
- The Stoic
- Sugar and Ice Personality: A male varient
- "Well Done, Son" Guy

Nergal[]
This Dark Druid is the de facto head of the Black Fang, the puppetmaster behind the scenes keeping all the other villains in line. About as mysterious as they come and just as powerful, Nergal has grand ambitions to bind Dragons to his control, but to realize them, he needs vast amounts of "Quintessence," and to gain that, he intends to cause vast amounts of death and destruction. Striking up an alliance with the mad Lord Darin of Laus, and accompanied at all times by his creations, the Morphs, he has set the stage for a war that will provide him with all the quintessence he needs.
Fairly generic Big Bad fare, right? If the player is willing to go hunting for some things off the beaten path, however a new picture of the Dark Druid will come into focus, that of a tragic and deeply disturbed man who believes he is serving a greater purpose...
- Alas, Poor Villain: Make sure you get those bonus chapters...
- Anticlimax Boss: By the time you've found a way around his Story-Breaker Power, you'll have a weapon capable of killing him in two hits. He is also killing you in two hits, though, so watch out!
- Archnemesis Dad: Maaaaaaaaybe...
- Big Bad
- Cain and Abel: With Athos, though they were simply good friends.
- Dark Is Evil
- Evil Counterpart: To Athos.
- Evil Sorcerer
- Face Heel Turn
- Love Makes You Evil
- Mad Scientist: A magical variation.
- Ninian And Nils I Am Your Father: Never outright said but heavily implied.
- Story-Breaker Power: Actually a plot point.
- Tragic Monster
Brendan Reed[]
The founder of the Black Fang and its de jure leader, Brendan, though an assassin, is a noble man who until recently targeted only corrupt nobles, and was seen as a friend to the populace of the country of Bern at large. A widower with two adult sons, he has recently married a woman much younger than himself, Sonia, and with her arrival came a certain corrupting influence in his organization, though whether he realizes it at all is anyone's guess.
- An Axe to Grind: Signature weapon.
- Badass Family: A patriarch thereof.
- Beauty Equals Goodness: Subverted. Hard. Brendan is clearly an honourable man with good intentions, while Sonia's villainy is obvious from the get-go.
- Bumbling Dad: A very Badass variation, but when it comes to his children, his head often seems to be elsewhere...
- Doting Parent: Implied to have been one for Nino, despite being only her adopted father. Considering Sonia's not really her mother either but despises her, this says a lot about him.
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: He has good scars across his eye and neck.
- Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: He definitely seems much larger than Sonia, though there's no direct comparison.
- May-December Romance: With Sonia though it turns out she hated it.
- Noble Demon: Let's face it, the guy kills people for a living, but only if they really, really deserve it.
- Please Forgive Me: Says this (in spirit) to his sons when he realises they were right about Sonia.
- Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Again, with Sonia. It's made readily apparent to the player that they're as different as night and day.
- The Unfought: While he's alive, anyway. The morph based on him is fought, however.
- Unwitting Pawn
- Worthy Opponent
Sonia Reed[]
Called "The Queen of the Four Fangs," Sonia is Brendan's second wife, almost disturbingly younger than he. This is, in fact, among the least disturbing things about this woman, for she is actually one of Nergal's dark servants, and the go-between between the Dark Druid and the Fang proper. She is a skilled manipulator and an even better magician, and rumors say she holds more power over the Fang than even Brendan himself...
At the time she married Brendan, Sonia already had a daughter of her own, Nino, who idolizes her mother and ceaselessly tries to make her proud.
- Alas, Poor Villain: If you don't see her ultimate fate as delightfully ironic, you'll probably see it as this.
- An Ice Person: Her signature spell.
- Artificial Human: No matter how hard she denies it.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Well, good enough to fool Brendan, anyway. His sons weren't so naive. Jan told Nino that even Brendan hadn't fully trusted her either.
- Complete Monster: She has a quality or two that could be seen as, if not sympathetic, then somewhat pitiable, but she's at least on the brink of this.
- Dark Magical Girl
- Evil Is Sexy
- Fetish Fuel Station Attendant: Is she ever!
- Humanoid Abomination
- Morality Pet: Nino. Not.
- Moral Event Horizon
- Omniscient Morality License: Well, she claims to have one...
- Offing the Offspring: Tries to pull the aforementioned Morality License as justification for this one. Jaffar (and presumably the player) don't buy it.
- Smug Snake: Even for a villain, she has too high an opinion of herself. Limstella acknowledged her own inhumanity, and Ephidel's arrogance was at least on a more justified level.
- The Scrappy: Her Hatedom is large even considering she's a villain; Fanon tends to make her out as some sort of sexual deviant (which seems par the course fore Scrappies for this game. See also: Marcus and Merlinus).
- Well, when you abuse cutie like Nino, even a Freudian Excuse won't save you from the protective fans.
- Ubermensch: What she sees herself as. She's about as wrong as you can get.
- Bolivian Army Ending: Last seen badly wounded and abandoned by her associates, nothing is ever developed beyond this, oddly.
Ephidel[]
Nergal's faithful retainer, disguised as Lord Darin's faithful retainer. Ephidel is the architect of Nergal's scheme to engulf the country of Lycia in war and Gather all the resulting Quintessence for himself. In fact, Ephidel owes his very existence to the Quintessence, as he is a Morph, an Artificial Human created from Quintessence to do Nergal's dirty work. Ephidel largely keeps to the shadows, planting ideas in Darin's head and making sure all the pieces are set in place for the reckoning.
- Artificial Human
- Complete Monster: One, Two, Three, Four! Four! Four Moral Event Horizon crossings, ah ah ah!
- The Corrupter
- Evil Chancellor
- Hoist by His Own Petard
- Humanoid Abomination
- Manipulative Bastard
- Moral Event Horizon: If you don't hate him when he stabs Lord Helman, and you don't hate him when he stabs Lord Hausen, you'll definitely hate him when he has Leila slaughtered, then has her mutilated corpse posed to look like it's still alive, just to mock you.
- The Unfought: Much to the chagrin of players who wanted Matthew to gut him. He still gets his, though.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Dishes these out in spades.
Limstella[]
The Four Fangs[]
The brotherhood's four best killers and ranking officers below Brendan and Sonia. The roster rotates depending on the skill of the members, but has at one time or another included:
Jaffar[]
The Fang's "Angel of Death" and its single best assassin, Jaffar was found Atop a Mountain of Corpses by Negal, who raised him to know nothing else but killing. Throughout the story, he handles the Fang's dirtiest jobs and nastiest dog-puntings, including the murder of Leila. But is he all bad? See "Main characters" for the answer!
Lloyd Reed[]
The elder of Brendan's two sons, known as the "White Wolf", Lloyd is a very calm, level-headed warrior and a skilled tactician, unlike his hot-headed brother. He's well-respected and loved among the Fang, trusted by his father, and loved by both his younger brother and his stepsister Nino
- Aloof Big Brother: Towards Nino.
- Anti-Villain
- Badass Beard: Well, stubble anyway.
- Badass Boast: "In the name of the Fang, I sentence you to death. Don't blame me for your fate - it is your own doing."
- Big Brother Mentor: To Linus.
- Death Seeker: If Linus is fought first, Lloyd fights the party partially for revenge, and partially because he doesn't want to keep living after his brother's death. He tells Nino that it doesn't matter if they didn't kill his brother - he'll still believe that they did because it's too late for him to accept otherwise
- Foil: He's the Black Fang's counterpart to Eliwood. Both men have similar personality traits - being rational, level-headed, compassionate towards those who can't protect themselves and willing to fight to protect innocents - both have elements of Fragile Speedster, and both seem to view stopping their enemies as a duty rather than a hobby.
- Fragile Speedster: Less fragile, but he still fits.
- Go Out with a Smile: If fought after Linus. Also when he's killed as a morph in the final chapter.
- Knight Templar Big Brother: Probably his only major character flaw.
- Noble Demon: Like his brother, in "Four-Fanged Offence", he ensures that civillians will not be harmed while he fights Eliwood's group.
- Plot Induced Stupidity: Leaving his hot-headed, irrational younger brother to watch Eliwood's group, expecting him to not attack while Lloyd goes off to inform their father of the army's presence in Bern. Seriously, Lloyd? It's especially jarring when one considers that in the alternate Chapter 23/24, Lloyd sends Linus to report to Brendan while he attacks them. He does, however, get a pass for attacking Eliwood's group in his own version of the Chapter, since he was using the fog on the battlefield to his advantage.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue to Linus' red.
- The Stoic
- Tranquil Fury
- Worthy Opponent: Lloyd compliments Eliwood if they fight during "Four-Fanged Offence", even noting that he doesn't seem "that bad", but that they are still on opposing sides. Eliwood considers Lloyd as such when he comments on his Noble Demon aspects, bringing up their conversation with Uhai. The revelation that Uhai aided them after his death prompts Lloyd to release Eliwood and to promise not to attack them again, though he refuses to defect to their side.
- You Killed My Brother: If he's fought in "Cog of Destiny", he makes it clear that he's fighting to avenge Linus, but that he also seeks death. Unlike Linus, he's able to have conversations outside of battle with Nino and Legault.
Linus Reed[]
- Aloof Big Brother: Towards Nino.
- Anti-Villain
- Badass Boast: "Pray. I'll give you that much time. For all the evil you've done up until now ... Repent it, and sleep."
- Big Brother Mentor: To Nino.
- Boisterous Bruiser: A somewhat smarter example, though not smart enough to be a Genius Bruiser.
- Go Out with a Smile: If fought after Lloyd; he's glad to at least join his brother in death even though he wasn't actively seeking it. Also happens when he's killed as a morph in the final chapter.
- Foil: He's the Black Fang's counterpart to Hector. Both of them have similar personality traits - being hot-headed, impulsive, and reckless - both are Boisterous Bruisers, both don't like listening to the rules if they think they know better and both are fiercely loyal to their cause and their friends. They can also both be rather Knight Templar about their allegiance being the correct one.
- Genius Bruiser: He's not exactly an idiot
- Hot-Blooded
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Can be hot-headed and impulsive - both Lloyd and Legault will attest to it - but he's ultimately very loyal to his family and his values.
- Noble Demon: Like his brother, in "Four-Fanged Offence", he ensures that civillians will not be harmed while he fights Eliwood's group. He's less inclined to worry when goes on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to Lloyd's blue.
- Roaring Rampage of Revenge
- What an Idiot!: If he's the one you fight in "Four-Fanged Offence", he initiates the fight against Eliwood despite Lloyd advising him to only watch the party and wait for the right time. Even his right-hand man on the field calls him out for his impatience as does Lloyd, when he finds his body afterwards.
- You Killed My Brother: If he's fought in the "Cog Of Destiny" chapter, he's completely unreasonable and unwilling to listen to the part - he even outright tells Nino that he'll kill her if she aids his brother's killers.
Ursula[]
Jerme[]
The Fang's "Death Kite," he used to be the organization's single best assassin, before Jaffar's arrival cost him that lofty position and his Four Fangs title. Though still maintaining a high position in the Fang, his demotion has made him bitter, and he is eager to prove himself to the leadership by any means necessary. A bloodthirsty sociopath, he has an unhealthy obsession with cutting things, and his sword, the Light Brand, can deal death up close and from far away.
- Ax Crazy: Knife crazy.
- Complete Monster: What he says to Lyn upon first seeing her really clinches it.
- Knife Nut
- Nightmare Fuel
- Squick
Pascal Grentzer[]
He was once part of the Four Fangs, known as the "Crazed Beast", but was imprisoned due to his ruthlessness. Sonia frees him and promises to restore him to his rank if he succeeds in killing the lords. He is known as the Crazed Beast because he once invited his entire city population into his castle, and proceeded to slaughter them all to ensure that one person was killed.
- Axe Crazy: Seems to enjoy killing for its own sake - he would kill anyone and everyone in his way even if they were innocent.
- Complete Monster: He invited his ENTIRE city population just to ensure ONE person was killed and slaughtered them all.
- Eats Babies
- Fridge Horror: This guy what too evil for the organization that willingly employs Jerme, apparently since before it was corrupted. Think about that for a minute.
- I Have You Now, My Pretty: Tries this on Sonia. She just brushes it off, but it's still his Establishing Character Moment.
- Nightmare Fuel
- Palette Swap: Of Bauker
- Red Baron: Known as the "Crazed Beast"
- Squick
- Smug Snake: Really bought Sonia's lies that he'd be reinstated into the Fang
Heintz[]
The first ranking member of the Black Fang encountered by Lyn's party, Heintz is a Shaman sent to retrieve the wayward Nils, who had escaped Nergal's clutches with his sister. He seems to hold a very low opinion of the concept of heroism, deriding as stupidly idealistic any attempt to hinder his designs. He and his men are aware of Nergal's influence in the Fang, and appear to hold loyalty to him rather than Brendan.
- Dark Is Evil
- Genre Blind: Is apparently quite unaware that he is in a Japanese SRPG (with a Medieval European Fantasy setting).
- Memetic Mutation: Ketchup jokes.
- Wake Up Call Boss: While still rather simple (you're still on the tutorial, after all), he's noticeably more deadly than the mere bandits you've faced so far.
Beyard[]
The controller of the group sent to recapture Nils and Ninian following their first escape (and thus probably Heintz's immediate superior), Beyard reports to Ursula of the Four Fangs. A deeply unhappy man, he lives in constant fear of failing the Fang. He confronts Lyn's group when they track Ninian's treasured ring to his fortress, and is given one last chance to kill them by Ursula.
- Driven to Suicide
- Too Dumb to Live: From a gameplay perspective. There is absolutely no reason he shouldn't move, but he doesn't.
- You Have Failed Me: His greatest fear. He ends up doing this to himself.
Wire[]
Boies[]
The first member of the Black Fang Eliwood encounters on his quest, Boies is one of Ephidel's men and seems to enjoy his job a bit too much. His assignment is to stop Eliwood and company from reaching the city of Santaruz, a job he treats as a macabre game of cat and mouse. He is not above involving innocents in his conflicts, employing bandits to pillage the area surrounding Castle Santaruz.
- Mighty Glacier
- Violent Glaswegian: Not literally, obviously, but he talks like one, at least.
- Wake Up Call Boss: Probably the first Eliwood's story boss that's killing you in two hits. He can be a source of nasty surprises for new players.
Damien[]
The Fang member sent to intercept Eliwood's group at Badon to prevent them from getting a boat to the Dread Isle, where Nergal is located. Damien is cold and doesn't display much personality, which makes him seem perhaps the most "assassin-like" of the minor Fang members.
- Bonus Boss: Unless you're playing Hector's story, you don't actually have to fight him. The reward for beating him, however is access to the Arena...
- Palette Swap: Of Wire.
- Wake Up Call Boss: Are you sure you really need that Arena?
Zoldam[]
Uhai[]
A high-ranked Fang known as the "Soaring Hawk", a Sacaen and close friend of the Reeds and Legault. The first enemy the party meets on Valor, he at first tries to take Lyn hostage so that they might hand over Ninian. He warns the party of the futility of fighting Nergal's plans, but when they refuse to back down, he frees Lyn and fights them in a more honourable manner. With his Famous Last Words, he gives them directions to the Dragon's Gate.
- Anti-Villain: Only willingly fights for Nergal because he believes resistance is futile.
- Go Out with a Smile: The only time he's seen smiling is after he's killed, when he congratulates the party for defeating him. The morph based on him in the Final Chapter does the same.
- Let's Fight Like Gentlemen: Refuses to hold a woman hostage in battle.
- Nakama: Explicitly describes the Reeds - and the original Fang - as his family.
- Noble Demon: Although he's willing to take Lyn hostage and attempt to force a trade for Ninian, he does not kill her when they refuse but instead lets her go. He does swear to kill her and the others in battle, but this is partly because he feels that those still alive will suffer more greatly at Nergal's hands.
- Worthy Opponent: Lyn and Eliwood saw him as one, and he returned the favour. Even Hector showed a grudging respect towards him despite his own Black and White Morality viewpoint.
Aion[]
The Fang's "Owl", a mage specialising in Thunder magic. He attempts to stop them from reaching the Dragon's Gate in the first Dread Isle Bonus Level, but his plans are hindered by Kishuna, and he's killed.
- Epileptic Trees: Many fans speculate that he is in fact Marquess Araphen, since both characters share a palette except for their hair colours, and both demonstrate Fantastic Racism towards Sacaens.
- Note that while this isn't impossible (considering Darin may have contacted other lords of Lycia for endorsement of his rebellion), there is also no other evidence to suggest it is true either. Lyn, Kent and Sain have no dialogue with Aion hinting at recognition. On their end, this may be justified by them only having met him once before, but the fact that he doesn't show recognition of Lyn (who reputedly has a Strong Family Resemblance to the woman Marquess Araphen loved) is suspect.
- Fantastic Racism: Toward Sacaens.
- Palette Swap: Of Marquess Araphen.
Teodor[]
Cameron[]
Oleg[]
Kenneth[]
The Fang's "Shrike", Kenneth is a bishop who long ago gave up on his faith to the Gods, beginning to worship Nergal instead for being the only possible deity he could see with his own two eyes. A sadist who enjoys the suffering of men, he misuses the sacred magic of St. Elimine in the Fang's service, and is shown to be trusted by Sonia. He possesses the rare and powerful Light magic tome "Aura".
- Affably Evil: More evil than affable really, but he's still one of the more polite and soft-spoken villains.
- Bald of Evil: Well, he does have a noticable patch on his head at least ...
- Church Militant
- Complete Monster: Implied to be one through his dialogue, though he doesn't seem to be as bad as the others.
- Defector From Decadence: Sees himself as one - "Gods are lies", anyone?
- Flat Earth Atheist: Of sorts
- Light Is Not Good
- Sinister Minister
Maxime[]
Denning[]
Kishuna[]
A morph created by Nergal, and the only one to have emotions. Because his only ability was to block magic in a certain vicinity, Nergal rejected him. He attacks the party on several intervals, trying to prove himself to his creator.
- Anti-Villain: He's not even particularly dangerous or able to attack your party - but fighting him is at times the only way progress.
- Artificial Human
- Beauty Equals Goodness: A very powerful subversion - he's the least attractive of the self-aware morphs, and yet is easily the most sympathetic.
- Bonus Boss: Only appears in optional side quests.
- Designated Villain: Many a gamer was pained at having to kill him in Hector's hard mode. For the party, their only justification appears to be that he's a morph and thus, an abomination.
- The Grotesque
- Sympathetic Monster
- Tactical Withdrawal: Usually quite good at this, proving he's not a complete idiot.
- The Mute
- "Well Done, Son" Guy
- What an Idiot!: Appearing in the middle of the battle between Eliwood's forces and those of Aion - a Fang who relies on magic to fight - is not the best time to show your face, Kishuna
- The Woobie

Batta "the Beast"[]
The first boss of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Sword. He is one of the two bandits that attack Lyn and the tactician in the prologue.
- Badass Boast: "Who do you think you are? You think you can stand up to Batta the Beast?"
- Memetic Mutation: The above quote led to this.
- Suicidal Overconfidence
Zugu[]
Glass[]
The boss of Lyn mode Chapter 2. He and his group of bandits try to steal the Mani Katti from its scabbard, but is stopped by Lyn and her companions.
- Badass Boast: "Sacrilege? I am Glass! The gods fear my name!"
- Ensemble Darkhorse: Despite being a level 3 mercenary with bad stats, he's one of the most beloved characters in the game, mostly due to..
- Memetic Mutation: He's one of the two main lords in the hack known as Gheb FE.
- Memetic Badass
- Unwarranted Self Importance
Migal[]
A member of the Ganelon bandits and the boss of Chapter 3. He becomes angry when Florina accidentally lands her Pegasus on him, and uses it as justfication for wanting to capture and sell them. He's stopped by Lyn and her friends.
- Even Evil Has Standards: He might be willing to exploit women and children by selling them for profit, but even he finds the idea of killing them in cold blood to be repulsive; his highly offended reaction to Lyn's query about him being in the Taliver group - who do butcher indiscriminately - seems to imply some hint of honestly about that, at least.
- Too Dumb to Live: If your enemy has cut through your forces to reach you, and they offer you a chance to go free, it might be wise to not brush their offer away. Especially if the person you're threatening happens to be their friend.
- Ungrateful Bastard: When Lyn determines that his group aren't Taliver, she offers him a chance to withdraw. He refuses.
Carjiga[]
A member of the Ganelon bandits and the boss of Chapter 4. He and his group hunt down Lyn's party after Migal is killed and attack them in a ruined fortress. He was Dorcas' apparent superior before the latter did a Heel Face Turn.
- Benevolent Boss: He may well be one, considering he offered to increase Dorcas' share of the take if he got the job done right.
- We Have Reserves: Calls them up when the battle gets harder
