The characters of Final Fantasy XV:
Noctis "Noct" Lucis Caelum[]
Voiced by: Tatsuhisa Suzuki |
The main character, a prince charged with defending his kingdom and its crystal. He draws on the power of the crystal to wield an arsenal of supernatural weapons and teleport. Has a strong friendship with his Nakama.
- Anti-Hero: Was planned to be initially this, but there's not a lot left in the final product except a little case of bad mood and anger over the way the incoming conflict as basically hidden from him to protect his life.
- Badass
- Badass in a Nice Suit: It's the mafia; what do you expect? And damn Noctis looks good in a suit.
- Bishounen: He's a FF protagonist, this was kind of a given.
- Cool Car
- Dark Is Not Evil
- Flash Step: Look at 0:22.
- Heroic RROD: The ring of Lucii causes this, and that's why he is so reluctant to use it.
- Heroic Sacrifice: He uses the ring of Lucii to finally defeat Ardyn and extinguish the Starscourge at the end of the game, but that costs him his life.
- Heroes Prefer Swords: His engine sword seems to be his signature weapon.
- BFS
- Cool Sword: His falchion. It's got an engine attached to it!
- Throwing Your Thirteen Swords Always Works: He could make this an entire combat style in addition to Flash Stepping and impenetrable fields made of swords.
- Hidden Depths: Secretly very shy, especially around girls.
- Hyperspace Arsenal: A justified one, no less.
- Immune to Bullets: Noctis' thirteen swords make him thus. And also immune to explosions.
- Impossibly Cool Clothes
- Kaleidoscope Eyes: Apparently, Noctis's eyes change colour depending on what mood he's in and what weapon he's using. This hasn't been explained, but may have something to do with the crystal.
- Blue Eyes/Purple Eyes: Under normal circumstances, Noctis's eyes are best described as indigo.
- Eyes of Gold: Often showed these in early trailers, though it could just be a trick of the light. His dad has them though.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Sports bright-red eyes when mowing down mooks. This may be a subversion or it may indicate he's a rather dark Anti-Hero.
- Living Battery: In order to use magic, Noctis's party must be near him because he is the one who grants them the power.
- Meaningful Name: It's probably meant to be "light of the night sky." Too bad they butchered the Latin.
- Mr. Fanservice
- Multi Melee Master/Multi Ranged Master: Noctis is said to be able to use every weapon in the game but as The Hero he has a natural preference to swords.
- One-Man Army/Curb Stomp Battle: Noctis: 1, Platoon: 0
- Orcus on His Throne: The main picture for the trope page, and a Heroic example.
- Perky Goth: Despite his moody demeanor and love of black clothing, he's apparently fun-loving and friendly and just tries to look cool.
- Person of Mass Destruction: Possibly.
- Psychic Powers: Can control his weapons telepathically.
- Revenge: Noctis seeks this at the end of the latest trailer.
- Sharp-Dressed Man: Man he looks good in that suit...
- Sleepyhead: From the trailers, it seems he can fall asleep just about anywhere, and has done so in every one of his appearances.
- Slouch of Villainy: And he's the hero.
- Together in Death: The post-credits scene of the game reveals he had reunited with Lunafreya in the afterlife.
- We Cannot Go on Without You
- Warrior Prince
- The Woman Wearing the Queenly Mask: The gender-inversion. He feels he has to look and act serious publicly because of his duty.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair/Shiny Midnight Black/Kaleidoscope Hair: In some scenes, Noctis' hair looks like a shade of silvery blue. Of course in other scenes his hair seems black or silver. And in the early stages, it was meant to be brown.
Lunafreya Nox Fleuret[]
Daughter of the Fleuret family from Tenebrae, she is an ally, a childhood friend, and bride of Noctis.
- Advertised Extra: Her percentage of screen time in the game is small compared to her percentage in ads.
- Captain Ersatz: Her role as important religious figure that is also a love interest seems to borrow heavily from Yuna.
- Forced to Watch: She can't help as Regis is impaled by Glauca.
- Hair of Gold: Very blonde and very nice.
- Ojou: Her family is very wealthy and everyone treats her with respect.
- Woman in White:She is constantly seen in white clothes, reinforcing her constrast with Noctis.
Ignis[]
Voiced by: Mamoru Miyano |
A strategist who is cautious and level-headed. Seems to spend most of his time chastising Noctis's overconfidence and chauffeuring their friends about.
- Actor Allusion: Definitely not the first time he's been a determined strategist. Or a care-to-all Bishounen for that matter.
- Impossibly Cool Clothes
- Katanas Are Just Better
- Meaningful Name: Ignis means fire, magic he seems to be partial to.
- Megane
- Sharp-Dressed Man
- The Smart Guy:
Gladiolus[]
Voiced by: Hiroki Yasumoto |
Old friend of Noctis and Ignis. Appears to be the group's senior.
- BFS
- The Big Guy: Noticeably older and more muscular than the others.
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: Has a scar over his eye.
- Mighty Glacier: From what we've seen of him in the trailers; he seems to employ slow, yet powerful attacks.
- Impossibly Cool Clothes
Prompto[]
Voiced by: Tetsuya Kakihara |
A vigilante and recent addition to Noctis's group of friends. He is an expert with firearms and has a playful personality.
- Bishounen
- Girl-On-Girl Is Hot: Implied that is his opinion, since he uses very suggestive language when talking about Gentiana and Luna partnership.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Occasional perverseness aside, Prompto is kind, optimistic young man.
- Impossibly Cool Clothes
- The Gunslinger: Prompto is the only one of Noctis's party who can properly use firearms.
- The Lancer: Seems to have the personality.
