Tropedia

  • Before making a single edit, Tropedia EXPECTS our site policy and manual of style to be followed. Failure to do so may result in deletion of contributions and blocks of users who refuse to learn to do so. Our policies can be reviewed here.
  • All images MUST now have proper attribution, those who neglect to assign at least the "fair use" licensing to an image may have it deleted. All new pages should use the preloadable templates feature on the edit page to add the appropriate basic page markup. Pages that don't do this will be subject to deletion, with or without explanation.
  • All new trope pages will be made with the "Trope Workshop" found on the "Troper Tools" menu and worked on until they have at least three examples. The Trope workshop specific templates can then be removed and it will be regarded as a regular trope page after being moved to the Main namespace. THIS SHOULD BE WORKING NOW, REPORT ANY ISSUES TO Janna2000, SelfCloak or RRabbit42. DON'T MAKE PAGES MANUALLY UNLESS A TEMPLATE IS BROKEN, AND REPORT IT THAT IS THE CASE. PAGES WILL BE DELETED OTHERWISE IF THEY ARE MISSING BASIC MARKUP.

  • Crowning Moment of Funny: Even after 90% of humanity is dead or enslaved, Bostonians can still take comfort in the Red Sox' 2004 comeback against the NY Yankees.
  • Designated Villain: Pope, as far as the leadership of the 2nd Mass is concerned. True, way back in the second episode he took the main characters hostage. True, he gave away the position of the 2nd Mass... though he was probably under pressure to do so. However, when it comes down to it, he hasn't really done much else to deserve being kept locked up nonstop and treated the way he is - what with the humans having bigger fish (like an alien occupation), to fry and all.
  • Freud Was Right: The best way to incapacitate or kill an alien is to jam something long and hard in their mouth.
  • Fridge Horror: When Anne and Lourdes dissect the Skitter and realize that the Skitters may once have been harnessed kids. Or at least harnessed-something
  • Hot Teacher: Tom Mason was a History professor before the aliens arrived.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Weaver. After we find out what happened to his family, it's hard not to forgive him for his Jerkass tendencies.
  • Tear Jerker: The entirety of the Ricky subplot in the episode Grace, though it may not be as sympathetic for Mike considering his irrational actions.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: For a television series at least, the special effects are quite good.
