Real People. Real Drama. Real Funny.

Extended Run is a webseries by Perry Sherman and starring the cast of the first national tour of Spring Awakening. It can be found on youtube here.

The plot fictionalizes life on the road with a musical with the most eccentric group of people you're liable to see cooped up together in a long time. Each episode (four, in two-three parts each) centers around a different few adventures the cast embarks on as they intertwine and come together. Some events include a fierce rivalry between the cast and the band, the theft of a lucky bear, leaving people at Alcatraz, a very important talent show, obsessive and gossiping fans, [[time travel], and a secret santa.

Somewhat in the same vein as Billy Green, a later webseries.

Tropes used in Extended Run include:
  • Alpha Bitch: Blake.

 "... Silence, mortal."

When Nodesy is returned: "I'm back, bitches!"

  • Attention Deficit Ooh Shiny: Kyle shows hints of this, particularly while learning "how much family... matters."
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Kyle again, with everything he does. He can be insane, but sometimes you have to wonder if he even knows what's going on,

"...And I'll come in as kind of a young hillbilly..."

  • Hollywood Tone Deaf: Andy, Anthony and Chase. Andy when he's practicing his solo for the talent show, Anthony when he's singing the Canadian National anthem and songs from Aladdin. It Makes Sense in Context. Chase has his memorable moment while rehearsing "Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind" with Steffi D. It's probably due to a case of bad nerves, though.
  • No Indoor Voice: Matt Shingledecker. Oh, god, Matt Shingledecker! Of course, he apparently has "a second degree case of verbal tourettes", so it's somewhat justified.

  • Opposite Day: Minor plot point in the first episode.
  • Romance on the Set: They're all college aged and stuck together for two years. What do you expect? Matt Shingledecker and Krystina Alabado are the most notable example, she can be seen sitting on his lap at one point. There was also Steffi D and Kyle Riabko, and the speculated romance between Sarah Hunt and Anthony Lee Medina.
    • Lucas and Kimiko were a couple off-screen; he went on to date Jenna Ushkowitz, of the Broadway cast, and it is speculated that he also dated Charlotte Wakefield, of the London cast.
  • Security Blanket: Nodsey is this for Blake; without him, he can't act, can't sing, or function as a normal person. On the upside, though, Blake's quite polite without it.
  • Spit Take: Matt Doyle does this on Julie when she questions why Kyle was mysteriously absent from the last few shows.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Lucas.
  • Stoic Woobie: Gabby, with hints of Extreme Doormat.
  • Team Mom: Perry.
