In 1986, Dennis the Menace was adapted into a Saturday Morning cartoon, by DiC Entertainment.

The 1980s animated series provides examples of:

  • Banister Slide
  • BLAM Episode: The episode Trembly Assembly.
  • Canada, Eh?: However, this plays up to stereotypes.
  • Canon Foreigner: Jay, PeeBee, Lars and Mr. Cavallini.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: PeeBee and Joey
  • Five-Token Band: Dennis, Joey, PeeBee, Jay and Gina
  • Headless Horseman: There was an episode where Dennis scared some people by pretending to be a headless horseman.
  • Innocent Panties: Margaret Wade in the "Charmed, I'm Sure" segment. While walking across of fence, Dennis causes one fence post the flip and knock down Margaret from behind, she falls face first in some mud and her white undies are seen from the back.
    • She has another in the "Wet n' Wild" segment, in a blink-and-you-may-miss-it-moment when she falls onto the raft before Joey.
  • Marilyn Maneuver: In the "Wet n' Wild" segment, a blonde lady keeps her skirt in place as a draft from Dennis and Joey, riding on skateboards while carrying a raft, attempts to lift it.
    • In the segment, "Sir Dennis and the Dragon", Margaret holds down her skirt as a twister suddenly appears and causes a draft.
  • Off-Model: This is a Di C cartoon after all.
  • Revival: Brought back in 2003.
    • Before that, there was one in 1993.
  • Second Place Is for Winners: Mr. Wilson enters a contest for a vacation. He wins first prize, but the vacation package is second prize. First prize is... a pet goose or duck.
  • The Tonsillitis Episode: One episode had Dennis in the hospital for a "tonsil-neck-tummy".
  • Through a Face Full of Fur: At times with Mr. Wilson, whenever Dennis and his friends mean well in helping him but unintentionally doing more harm, which aroused enough anger in him to turn red in the face.
  • Zeerust / 3D Movie: Dennis sneaks out to see The Future in 3D.
