The second game in the Chaos Rings franchise, and a prequel to the first game.

In Chaos Rings Ω, we see the events of the Ark Arena during the tournament preceding the original Chaos Rings. The game abandons the multiple perspectives of the original, focusing instead on a man named Vieg. This game provides backstory to the events of the original, while adding additional content and bosses.

Tropes used in Chaos Rings Omega include:

  • Body Horror: The penultimate boss of Omega is Dante and Rachel mashed together into a single creature.
  • Continuity Nod: Piu-Piu returns as the shopkeeper and bonus boss for the game.
  • Convection, Schmonvection: Zig Zagged. The lava does provide enough heat to damage the characters every turn in battle when you fight over it, but not nearly as much as it should. Then, Olgar jumps in to save Vahti and Ohm, and is able to wade through it, slowly, giving a long speech about the importance of family, place his daughter and grandson safely on a walkway, and then, finally sink into the lava as it burns him away.
  • Duel Boss: Vieg vs Yorath; then when Vieg collapses Olgar takes over for him.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending
  • Elite Mook: In Cyllis' Dreamscape, which is made worse by the fact that Omega is harder.
  • Exposed to the Elements: Justified as all the environments are artificial.
  • Foregone Conclusion: If you assume that this timeline is canon to or similar to the canon for any of the timelines represented in the original game, you already know:
    • Kushina is going to die and Ayuta is going to go into cold sleep for 10,000 years and have his memory wiped.
    • Olgar and Raechel are going to die.
    • Vieg is going to be renamed Olgar and escape the Ark with Vahti.
  • Giant Space Flea From Nowhere: The Ark Arena's purpose is to train humanity to fight against one of these.
  • Hub Level: The Ark Arena itself serves as one.
  • Interface Spoiler: Vieg and Olgar's stuff being marked "O" (Olgar) and "D" (Dante, his original name) respectively, and finding equipment for Vahti before she becomes playable.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: If not outright Breaking the Fourth Wall. During a fight with Garrick and Alto in Omega's Extra Mode, Garrick charges up a One-Hit Kill attack while taunting that there's no escaping it because there's no way to run from boss battles. In line with Extra Mode's satirical bent, you can run from this one and in fact have to in order to proceed; with Olgar pointing out that it's stupid not to escape certain doom.

Olgar: [after Garrick and Alto are shocked that they escaped] Since when did you guys become bosses?

  • Mistaken for Gay: Early in Omega Olgar and Vieg leave their wives behind due to Vahti's pregnancy. Given the "couples" setup, when Ayuta sees them fighting together he asks if they're "involved".
  • One Steve Limit: Averted; there are two guys named "Olgar". It's actually a title; the Olgar of Omega was originally "Dante", and passed the name on to his son-in-law Vieg, who is the Olgar of the first game.
  • Retcon: Maybe. Hard to say when you're dealing with multiple timelines.
    • In Ayuta and Olgar's timelines in the original game, Olgar killed Ayuta. In this game, Cyllis kills him.
    • In Olgar's timeline, Ayuta states that Olgar and Vahti killed Vahti's parents. In this game, Cyllis kills Raechel, and Olgar dies in a Heroic Sacrifice to save Vahti and Ohm. They do kill the Conglom made with their genes and memories, however.
  • Vendor Trash: "Piu-Piu's Collection" items. Omega explains why they're scattered around the place; Piu-Piu smuggled the stuff aboard the Ark Arena and the Agent confiscated it. A collection of what is never specified, but one can hazard a guess.

Piu-Piu: Especially those 3D ones. Once you try those, believe me, you can never go back...
