  • Author's Saving Throw: Patch 1.2 allows the player to skip both Journal and Foreplay Minigame (provided that the play had gone through the latter at least once per event), as well as increasing the total amount of save files to 20.
  • Base Breaker:
    • While Naoto may be popular thanks to his attractive look and personality both in and out of universe, fans are not so impressed his "The Reason You Suck" Speech toward Natsumi and him being insensitive toward the latter's inferiority complex, though some do view his action as partly acceptable since a verbal fight between siblings, no matter how close they are, is not something usual, and that it's necessary for both to finally get their own perspective and opinion to the other.
    • Yuri was pretty much despised by fans at first sight, being an annoying and unrealistic "fujoshi archetype" in a yaoi game. However, her character in-game is much more tamed and her antics are only for short humoristic scenes. She's actually a serious scoutmaster and also the one who gave Keitaro his very important Journal. She also won a lot of people for her coolness and helpful pragmatism during the beach photo incident.
    • You either find Hiro's jealousy on his route awfully annoying, or endearing once you know why Hiro wanted to go to Camp Buddy with Keitaro, with some people almost feeling guilty for playing the other routes after this one (even if the five routes clearly are not in the same timeline) because they feel like they're making Hiro suffer.
    • Hunter is either cute and lovely or wimpy and too sensitive, depending on your taste. There are also certain fans that feel turned off by his cute and short appearence when the rest of the love interests look more mature, even if his profile states that he is eighteen years old. He was never really lucky on the Patreon's polls and seemed to be the least popular of the bunch until recently. Mikkoukun himself seems to have realized this, and gave Hunter his own centric (non-canon) event "Spring Special".
    • Natsumi has experienced a decrease in popularity as of recently and seems to have taken up Hunter's old position as the least popular of the boys. While he is well-liked in some circles because of how attractive he is, some fans tend to find him blander than the other characters due to his role as "the responsible one" taking up most of his personality traits and generally find his route to be less interesting than the other ones, as they don't feel like it does a good job expanding his character. On the other hand, some fans feel touched by his route despite how simple it is said to be and learn to understand Natsumi better.
  • Ear Worm: Greatest Memories, the game's opening theme, and it variants.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Of all the love interests, Yoichi is easily the most popular one due to his Jerk with a Heart of Gold personality, his great lines and snark with the others, his wild appearance and deviation from traditional shota archetype design. His route is also considered to be the best one out of the five as it is a huge bomb of touching moments.
    • After Yoichi, Taiga seems to be the crowd's second favorite thanks to all of his Hidden Depths and the Character Development he gets regardless of the route chosen. Once his route was released, his fanbase skyrocketed as not only it was very well written and gave players the option to choose whether they wanted Taiga to be a Seme or an Uke, but also because it expanded his personality more than it already was and explored his backstory in more detail, winning over many players.
    • For the secondary characters, Aiden garnered some fans thanks to him being the playful Mr. Fanservice of the group and being incredibly friendly and sympathetic with Hiro's problems in his route.
    • Eduard is also liked for subverting both the Bully stereotype and the Camp Gay trope by having Hidden Depths and standing up to Taiga and actually pointing his flaws as a friend. Also, he's more genuinely funny than annoying.
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: Hiro and Yoichi. Their relationship as the Vitriolic Best Buds during most routes plus Yoichi's Tsundere tendences make this a no-brainer for most fans (not to mention that both already share a lot of Ship Tease moments to begin with). It also helps that they can potentially hook up should the player get a bad ending with either of them. Quite an amount of fans claim that Yoichi is a better match for Hiro than Keitaro.
    • Natsumi x Yoichi also seems to be popular among the fanbase due to their contrast in personality. It also seems to be even more popular than the "semi-canon" pairing of Natsumi and Hunter seen in either of their routes' bad endings.
  • Foe Yay: Taiga and Keitaro get A LOT of this, especially during the first and second acts of the game, as regardless of the route chosen Keitaro wants to find out why Taiga has such a sour attitude and wants to be friends with him, while Taiga is heavily implied to have a crush on Keitaro, but he Cannot Spit It Out because of his jealousy. Taken Up to Eleven in the November 27th, 2019 update which gives Taiga his own route and basically Promotes him to Love Interest (although his route was originally planned to come out with others but it was postponed due to the team not meeting the deadline).
  • He Really Can Act: The voice acting is top-notch during the intense scenes, most notably during the fourth act, and really helps the immersion in the story.
  • Memetic Loser: Some fans see Hiro as this. For starters, he is the only one of the love interests who already has a crush on Keitaro right before the start of a route, which means that should he decide to go for someone other than Hiro, the latter has to see how his crush falls for a different person while he can't do anything about it.
  • Narm: Keitaro's thoughts during the sex scenes. Mostly Narm Charm, thought. Less charming are the tongue sounds during sex, more Squick than sexy, and the moaning of some characters. Hiro achieving orgasm, for example, is pretty cringy.
    • Also on the sound department : Despite the team's efforts to create diverses sound effects, some voice tidbits are either repetitive or inappropriate considering the situation. Such as Natsumi's enthusiastic "Okay!" when he packs Hunter's stuff when his parents want him out of the camp.
  • Player Punch: If you get attached to one of the love interests during a certain route and then pursue another one in a new game, is difficult to not think about how the love interest will cope with his problems without Keitaro being there for him and overall make you feel like you are neglecting them in favour of someone else. This happens to players with Yoichi and Hiro the most.
  • Portmanteau Couple Name: There are a few:
    • Keihiro for Keitaro/Hiro.
    • Keichi for Keitaro/Yoichi. Props to Yoichi for using it to name one of Yuki's four pups at the end of his route.
    • Huntaro for Hunter/Keitaro.
    • Hamagame for Natsumi/Keitaro (A combination of their last names, Hamasaki and Nagame).
    • Nagatora for Keitaro/Taiga (A combination of their last names, Nagame and Akatora).
    • Yoichiro for Yoichi/Hiro.
    • Huntsumi for Hunter/Natsumi.
  • Ron the Death Eater: The hate towards Kieran is, to put it simple, exaggerated, with him being made into a guy who tries to break Keitaro and Taiga apart. While him being somewhat of a Yandere and a crazy jealous boyfriend was true, he had then since realized his mistake and was actually sincere in clearling up his loose ends with Taiga so that each of them could move on with their own life.
  • The Scrappy: Goro wasn't very liked before the game's release, mostly because he was an old guy in a game full of young men. His character didn't really won many people over once the game was released, notably for its unreasonable tantrum about the beach incident. Him being so patronizing with Yoshinori and especially with Aiden - whom he bluntly silence in one scene like he was a simple lackey - didn't help. He gets sightly better through the end, but many feels like he overstayed his welcome and should have leave after the whole incident, as he serves no real purpose other than put pressure on the other characters.
    • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: In some sort on Hunter's Route when he shows genuine appreciation for his art and helps him enrolling in an art school. He also mellows out more quickly in Taiga route, thanks to Taiga and Keitaro helping him fix his flower necklace and the nude photo incident not happening, as well as being more open and kind towards Yoshinori.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: The most raised criticism of the game as a whole is the Journal Minigame, either because it's childish, hard or because people already have too many badges compared to what's unlockable with it, and it's unskippable, meaning you have to go through no matter what. Fortunately, Patch 1.2 will allows the player to skip the minigame if desired.
    • The fact that nothing in the game can tell you if you're choosing the right answer to get the perfect ending is quite annoying, and sometimes, neither the questions or the choices help at all. In Hunter's Route, the boys are making a truth or dare, and you have to choose between these four : "Truth! / Truth. / Dare! / Dare." Quite subtile, isn't it. It helps that you have two good choices on this one...
  • Ship Mates: Expect Keitaro/Taiga fans to also ship both Yoichi/Hiro and Natsumi/Hunter. This is done so everyone is happy, as none of the love interests get left out of a relationship and the Game overall shows these three couples as having good chemistry.
  • Ship-to-Ship Combat: Not surprising considering the genre...
    • There are those who think Hiro is the true love of Keitaro and that this is the canon ship, stating that if Mikkoukun's avatar is Hiro, it's for good reason even if he said himself that there is no canon route.
    • Natsumi's chemistry with Keitaro brought this route many fans and this ship has gained a lot of defenders since the game's release.
    • Yoichi already had a lot of fans but his route proved to be the more emotionally charged and won a lot of people.
    • Then there's Hunter's very cute story with Keitaro and those who played his route are surprised and enticed by Keitaro's Seme vibe in this scenario.
    • And finally for the main six, you have Keitaro trying to get to know Taiga better and not only gaining his affection, but also changing him for the better in the process.
    • And last but not least, "Who is Yoshi's OTP, Aiden or Goro?"
  • The Untwist: The fact that Hiro has a massive crush on Keitaro doesn't come off as a surprise to anyone considering how Hiro acts towards Keitaro during the prologue and because this is Romance Game, so a Childhood Friend Romance was obvious right from the moment Hiro was introduced.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Seto and Felix big time. Very little of their relationship is shown and, althought it seems clear that they have a thing going on, it is not shown at all (unless you count some very specific scenes) and it's quite frustrating for some fans, as they have a good chemistry together and the Ship Tease between the two is already there to begin with.
  • What an Idiot!: Several moments in the game have this:
    • Common Route:
      • At the end of the Beach Episode a nude photo of Goro is found and this one marks Keitaro as the prime suspect because he is always carrying his camera around.
        • You'd Expect: Goro would handle the situation in a professional way and give Keitaro a chance to explain himself and ask for the alibis of the other campers and eyewitnesses since the possibility of someone taking Keitaro's camera instead of him can also exist.
        • Instead: He throws a tarantum and plans on expelling Keitaro in a few days without doing any farther research.
        • As a result: Keitaro is on Risk of being expelled for something he didn't do and this leads to Yoichi, Hiro, Hunter and Natsumi to make their own investigation to discover the true culprit (Who happened to be Taiga)
    • Hiro's Route:
      • We all know that Hiro has had a crush on Keitaro for who knows how long, and considering what might happen if his mother's health condition doesn't improve, wants to make the most out of his time with him.
        • You'd expect: Hiro, knowing how sociable Keitaro is, would take advantage of the fact that is summer, ask Keitaro to spend some time alone with him and then confess his feelings in the right moment.
        • Instead: Hiro signs up both Keitaro and himself (without Keitaro's consent or knowledge, by the way) to Camp Buddy hoping they get to bond there.
        • As a result: Both end up in a summer camp in which Hiro runs the risk of seeing his crush fall for either a Shrinking Violet, a Chivalrous Pervert, an Ace with Innocent Blue Eyes or his self-proclaimed Rival. He can also get him, but still.
    • Natsumi's Route
      • Near the end of the third arc of the game, during the costume party, Yuri accidentally locks up both Keitaro and Natsumi in the office. After no one comes for them for a long time, they both decide to... have some private time together. Some time after finishing, Yuri comes back alongside Hunter, Yoichi and Hiro and apologizes to the boys for locking them up.
        • You'd expect: Both Keitaro and Natsumi keep their mouths shut about what they did and tell Yuri that they are not angry at her and everyone moves on from the situation.
        • Instead: Natsumi, being who he is, tells Yuri that they entretained themselves by doing roleplay.
        • As a result: Even if Natsumi never outright stated that they had sex, it is enough to trigger Yuri's Yaoi Fangirl Persona and she asks them for details. Lampshaded by Yoichi, who drags everyone out before the situation gets worse.
    • Taiga's route
      • During Taiga's previous year at Camp Buddy, Kieran, Taiga's ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend, started to grow apart from Taiga due to Taiga being sociable and Kieran not wanting to be with anyone else other than him.
        • You'd expect: Kieran would try to make the efford of aproaching Taiga and his friends in order to spend time with his boyfriend, even if they are not alone.
        • Instead: Kieran still keeps his distance from Taiga, causing him to team up with three other people for the SportsFest, excluding Kieran.
        • Even Worse: Kieran goes full Crazy Jealous Guy on Taiga, and decides to get "revenge" by staging the beat-up of a camper alongside with the Camp's bullies, who had a grudge against Taiga, and they all together pin it on Taiga.
        • As a result: Not only the incident does not fix the problems that he and Taiga had, it also results in a huge reputation loss for both Taiga and Camp Buddy as a whole. Doesn't help much that Kieran later assaulted Taiga during a heated discussion, causing both the end of their relationship and of Taiga's friendly and sociable personality, which ends up replaced by a cynic and sour one. It is only here when it hits Kieran.
  • The Woobie: All of the Love Interests qualify in this:
    • Hiro: He has had a huge crush on Keitaro ever since they were kids, and Keitaro not only was (and is) unaware of his feelings towards him, but they also started drifting apart as they grew up and thus Hiro has been unable to confess his feelings. If that wasn't enough, Hiro also has to take care of his mother, who is very prone to illness and is at the hospital as a result, and should her health condition not improve, they might have to move to the capital so she can get a more intensive treatment, possibly never seeing Keitaro again, which is the reason why Hiro signed up Keitaro and himself to Camp Buddy, so he could spend one last summer with him in case he is never able to see him again. Knowing all of this, it is hard not to think how Hiro might be affected with Keitaro and his Love interest establishing a relationship.
    • Natsumi: Natsumi has been considered Always Second Best in everything he does because of his brother Naoto being twice as good as him in everything he does, to the point where his friends and family all constantly compared him to Naoto, giving him an inferiority complex to the point where even he started comparing himself to Naoto. It all changed when he joined Camp Buddy for the first time, as no one could compare him to Naoto anymore and he could enjoy his time as a scout there, which is why he kept coming back every summer ever since. However his inferiority complex caused him to develop Workaholic tendencies, and felt like he still needed to strive for perfection even with Naoto out of the picture. In his route once Naoto comes to Camp Buddy, he starts assisting everyone with their chores for the fundraiser, causing history to repeat itself for Natsumi. He also starts criticizing Natsumi for everything he does (which he himself states that he has been doing that to him for a long time), and it affects Natsumi considerably as he starts slipping up during chores he normally has no problems with. It gets worse when Naoto is named scoutmaster after Natsumi is declined the position, with the latter having enough of the treatment and pointing out his brother's flaws, which ends in him receiving "The Reason You Suck" Speech from Naoto, which is undeserved and insensitive.
    • Hunter: He has been homeschooled all his life and has had a hard time making friends throughout his life as it has rendered him with No Social Skills. His parents, who together run a successful business company, want Hunter to grow up as a succesful person and take over their business company in the future, and put a lot of pressure into the boy and have high expectations for him (And the only reason why Hunter is in Camp Buddy is so he can have a place to stay while his parents are taking care of a business situation). It gets to the point that, in his route, they are initially against Hunter wanting to go to an art school, which is his true passion, and threaten to take him out of the camp, the place where he was able to make friends and open up to others for the first time.
    • Yoichi: Arguably the biggest Woobie of the five: When he was young he was abused by his mother for being an unwanted child and for bearing a heavy resemblance to his father, who left her before Yoichi was born (and thus, he never met him). When she decided that she had finally had enough of Yoichi, she pretended to be nice to him and took him out for a walk, only to get away from him and catch a ferry, abandoning him. The worst part? Even with all the horrible things she had done to him, Yoichi could never bring himself to hate her. Yoichi was then forced to live in the streets on his own, doing anything he could to survive. It was here when he met Yuki, a dog that Yoichi adopted, and she never ever left his side since then. Years passed and Yoichi and Yuki were caught stealing by Yoshinori, who invited both of them to stay with him at Camp Buddy, becoming a Parental Substitute for Yoichi. In his route, Yuki suffers a Death by Childbirth and Yoichi struggles seeing how the only one that has ever been for him through bad and good is now gone forever.
    • Taiga: This Cynic, Jerkass Bully Used to Be a Sweet Kid eager to help and make friends with everyone. He signed Up to Camp Buddy alongside his best friend and First Love at the time, Kieran. While things were going fairly well for Taiga, Kieran was the opposite, with him being possessive of Taiga and refusing to spend time with him and his new friends at the same time, causing them to grow apart. Things finally hit rock bottom at the SportsFest, in which Taiga sided with other four people, excluding Kieran from his group. Driven by Envy Kieran plotted "revenge" against Taiga by contacting some bullies at camp who disliked Taiga and together they staged the beat-up of a camper and pinned it on Taiga, causing him to develop a bad reputation for something he didn't do. Taiga eventually found out about Kieran's involvement in the incident and after a heated discussion, he was assaulted by the latter. The incident had had such an impact nation-wise that Taiga was about to be declared Persona Non Grata in Camp Buddy, but he begged for a second chance. He was given it, but all of these events caused Taiga to develop a sour personality, leaving him as nothing but a shell of his former self.
