Tropedia

  • Before making a single edit, Tropedia EXPECTS our site policy and manual of style to be followed. Failure to do so may result in deletion of contributions and blocks of users who refuse to learn to do so. Our policies can be reviewed here.
  • All images MUST now have proper attribution, those who neglect to assign at least the "fair use" licensing to an image may have it deleted. All new pages should use the preloadable templates feature on the edit page to add the appropriate basic page markup. Pages that don't do this will be subject to deletion, with or without explanation.
  • All new trope pages will be made with the "Trope Workshop" found on the "Troper Tools" menu and worked on until they have at least three examples. The Trope workshop specific templates can then be removed and it will be regarded as a regular trope page after being moved to the Main namespace. THIS SHOULD BE WORKING NOW, REPORT ANY ISSUES TO Janna2000, SelfCloak or RRabbit42. DON'T MAKE PAGES MANUALLY UNLESS A TEMPLATE IS BROKEN, AND REPORT IT THAT IS THE CASE. PAGES WILL BE DELETED OTHERWISE IF THEY ARE MISSING BASIC MARKUP.

  • Adaptation Displacement - Few people seem to realize it started as a comic from an anthology series.
  • Anvilicious - Every episode was designed to teach an important lesson via the human character Willy DuWitt. That this required a rather complicated plan on the part of the toads, and typically left them with a rather humiliating defeat, really hammered it home.
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome - The characters all get quite a few throughout the series.
    • Bruiser is able to scare every toad off of a planet all by himself by being broadcast over Toad TV. What makes this so cool is the fact he does it TWICE.
    • Toadborg completely dominates the Righteous crew in the third episode where they'd previously proven a match for everything the Toads could fire at them.
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming - After rebuffing a pretty young classmate who was trying to get him to help her cheat, finally realizing he can't let himself be fooled into thinking she likes him, Willy's girl pal gives him a kiss for wisening up.
  • Ear Worm - The animated series Theme Song: "I say Bucky! Captain Bucky O'Hare! Mutants, and aliens, and toads, beware"
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Jenny, so very much. Deadeye also, to an extent.
  • Family-Unfriendly Aesop - Everyone in the Aniverse is fully aware that KOMPLEX is the only reason the Toads act as they do, yet they have no qualms with causing as much damage to them as possible or insulting them in some pretty harsh ways.
    • It may be because even before KOMPLEX the Toads weren't exactly the Aniverse's greatest bunch of guys to begin with. They were a society so decadent and lazy that they desiged an AI computer system to take care of even the most mundane tasks for them.
      • Still, the backstory provided still emphatically explains how they kept to themselves and didn't hurt anyone and had families and a society pretty much identical to the mammals' (aside from their diets). Decadent and lazy, yes, but mostly good. Their only "crime" pre-Komplex was lack of foresight.
  • Memetic Sex Goddess: Jenny and Felicia.
    • Some also prefer Mimi.
  • Too Good to Last - The show ended after only 13 episodes when the company that owned the property went bankrupt.
  • Unfortunate Implication - The Big Bad keeps his mooks in line through exposure to Toad TV. This is even weaponized and used against the mammals, causing Bucky to spout the famous line, "It's the most diabolical thing imaginable." Keep in mind this is being broadcast on a television show.
    • Willy's counter makes it even better.

No, it's just dumb junk!

    • This is what happens when your animated adaptation is based on an underground furry comic created during the 80s Black and White boom...
