Ryan Gaerity, a deranged Irish terrorist, escapes from a Northern Ireland prison to take revenge on Liam McGivney, a fellow member of Gaerity’s cell who, when trying to stop Gaerity from detonating a bomb near several civilians, caused the death of the rest of the cell, including McGivney’s girlfriend who was also Gaerity’s sister. McGivney fled to Boston and took up the name Jimmy Dove. As penance, Dove became a member of the bomb squad. The only one who knows the truth is his uncle Max O’Bannon.
