  • For those wondering how the hell something like that ever appeared in a comic book back then, keep in mind that terminology can undergo changes (i.e. "gay" going from "happy" to "homosexual"). In this case, "boner" went from a gaffe to... well, you know.
  • To clarify, this wasn't just one panel- the entire story revolved around the Joker's boners or Batman and Robin's boners. There are nearly forty uses of the the word and the story is less than ten pages long.
