Bait and Switch Credits/Playing With

Basic Trope: The content of the program doesn't match its opening credits.

• Straight: The opening credits of Galaxy Defender Bob is about Bob in his shining Humongous Mecha saving the universe from a comically-evil alien empire. But the series is about a Crapsack World with a Black and Grey Morality, where the soldiers of human planet-states make no qualm about civilians caught in their mecha battles.
• Exaggerated: Scratch fighting in Humongous Mecha; Galaxy Defender Bob is about a man fighting his depression.
• Justified:
  • The creator of Galaxy Defender Bob want to make a series that highlights the horrors of warfare.
  • Or the creator had a Creator Breakdown when working on this series.
• Inverted:
  • The opening credits of Galaxy Defender Bob is a dull slideshow of Bob's vacation photos; while the series is about Bob kicking ass in Humongous Mecha. Turn out that the places for battle and the places he went for vacation are the same places. So it's not unrelated, mm'kay?
  • The opening is made up entirely of actual clips from the show, so you know exactly what you're getting when you watch the opening.
• Subverted: The opening credits of Galaxy Defender Bob is about Bob in his Humongous Mecha saving the universe from a comically-evil alien empire. But Galaxy Defender Bob is about a man fighting his depression. But, on closer inspection, each alien monster in the opening represent Bob's inner demon.
• Double Subverted: Except that when Bob does battle his inner demons in a Battle in the Center of the Mind, Bob is a samurai fighting an entirely-human group of bandits.
• Parodied: Super Warrior Hyperion, a Show Within a Show inside Galaxy Defender Bob, has a Bait and Switch Credits. The characters mock that show for having exactly that.
• Deconstructed: The viewers feel cheated, and the rating of Galaxy Defender Bob flops.
• Reconstructed: But Galaxy Defender Bob attracts a lot of nerds, and a TV Tropes page almost as long as Warhammer40k one wiki was created for it, drawing more nerds into it. And then Galaxy Defender Bob became an instant classic.
• Zig Zagged: Galaxy Defender Bob has Evolving Credits, some are the embodiment of this trope and the others match the series.
• Averted:
  • The opening of Galaxy Defender Bob is also about a man fighting his depression. The title still doesn't match, though.
  • The opening of Galaxy Defender Bob is about a man fighting an evil alien empire, and so is the rest of the show..
• Enforced: The producer of the series hates Humongous Mecha shows, and want to Troll fans of Humongous Mecha.
• Lampshaded: After the credit roll: "...and now for something completely different!"
• Invoked: ?????
• Defied: ?????
• Discussed: "Weren't we in outer space just seconds ago?"
• Conversed: "Weren't they in outer space just seconds ago?"
• Played For Laughs: The title sequence of a show has nothing to do with the actual content, but it's so absurdly funny it works.
• Played For Drama: The title sequence shows the hero reigning as a valiant king to contrast how the show is about his life of slavery and suffering after being deposed.
